Chapter 16

Fares was already formulating a plan while asking Azkar more questions about this world, this village, and that pair of grandfather and grandson, on his way to the stone house.

However, there were still many loopholes he needed to fill.

"Do you know when Zena will wake up this time around?" Fares went straight to the point and asked.

"According to how much she ate and her cultivation level, I would say 4-5 days," Azkar answered while rubbing his beard with his index finger.

Fares pondered for a while more, "And how long can we trick those two before they suspect anything?"

"Not much longer than five days. You see that old man has lived over two hundred years now and has seen his fair share of people live, train, and even die before him." Azkar said.

"Then what if we…"

Their conversation went on for a long time after that, and when they were done they were embarrassed by the sight of Mona sleeping peacefully curled up on her stone block with suckling her thumb like a newborn baby.

From Fares' point of view, he wanted to let her in on the plan, but he couldn't speak their language. On the other hand, Azkar was interested in Fares' train of thoughts that he forgot about her.

He lived too long, even longer than Daragma, that he found most of the things he does don't interest him anymore.

Fares sighed and carried her little body onto the bed beside her sister.

The house wasn't that big, it barely had a bedroom, a room where they do their business, usually in a bucket, and the main room. It had everything else from preparing meals to weaving clothes out of tree leaves.

The bed had been covered by a thick layer of leaves which could only be thought of as their makeshift mattress. There were also two cuboid-shaped structures made of leaf covering filled with grass, as it looked from some of it poking out.

Fares put Mona besides Zena on the second cuboid 'Pillow', before covering them both with a large leaf sheet that was folded nicely at the end of the bed.

He was rather confused, why don't I see any animal skin used as either any wearables or even household stuff. Most of their stuff is either, leaves, stones, or wood.

Fares then returned but on his way out he found Zena's long knife, he hesitated for a while before eventually leaving it be.

When he saw Azkar outside he asked, "Can your barrier stay while you're away?"

"I am afraid not, as I need to constantly supply it with energy for it to stay erect. Although it's not much energy, interrupting the skill for a just second which naturally break the spell." Azkar said, shaking his head from side to side.

"Then I need to go out to get a sword, preferably one that's 50 cm long and 5 cm wide. And of course with engravings on it."

"Why would you want something like that?"

"I am going out hunting." Fares said with a mischievous smile on his face.

---------

Fares arrived in front of another 2-story stone house with wooden doors and windows that looked exactly like Healer Raya's place. Except that it had a sign with letters that Fares understood was different from Raya's sign, but couldn't quite read it.

There were very loud banging sounds coming from inside that could be heard from two blocks away.

Knock~ Knock~

Knocking on the door politely, Fares didn't get a response, which was excepted since even he didn't hear it over the sound of banging inside.

Bang~ Bang~

Fares then banged on the door the same way he saw the FBI do it in many movies before.

The sound suddenly stopped and after some rustling from the other side of the door, it suddenly opened to reveal a 2.10 m long man with muscles bulging even more than Doga. He had scars all over his body and short black hair.

Gulp~

Fares gulped at the sight, he was never expecting it, he never met craftsmen who don't use modern technology before, and his only knowledge of it came from some novels he read from here and there. He should've known, even if he went to someplace other than earth what is the probability of actually meeting a dwarf.

"Who are, and what do you want?" The large dude asked.

Before Fares came by, Azkar told him about the guy. His name was Don, he was the only craftsman in the village. Since they go hunting a lot they break too many of the stone knives, but it is understandable as it was made of stone anyway.

Naturally, Fares didn't understand the big guy, so he just passed a little stone tablet with some words from their language written on it, to him. It was given to him by Azkar, sort of like a recommendation letter.

Don looked a little skeptical at first, but looking at Fares' tiny body he didn't think he'd be much of a threat to him, so he took the tablet anyway.

After skimming through its content, Don looked Fares up and down again before gesturing for him to follow.

'What's it with everyone and their gestures? Don't they know other signals?' Fares grumbled under his breath but followed Don inside anyway.

It wasn't much special inside, the only thing eye-catching was a pile of big round stones layered upon each other like a pyramid.

Don ignored the huge pile and entered another room, then he emerged with a big wooden box in his hands.

After opening the box, Fares became amazed. There was a big piece of a beautiful crimson red shining stone sitting over there, it was glittering as if it contained stars swimming within it, below it was layers of grass.

Fares kept watching as Don worked, totally forgetting about his presence.

Don grabbed a few pieces of stone as a trial and used them to hammer the crimson stone, this gave Fares a heart attack.

'You can't just hit stones with other stones like that, it would break.' He thought shaking his head.

But the crimson stone didn't break, on the contrary, the rocks broke one after the other.

With a shocked expression, Fares watched as the big guy light up the fire with the palm of one hand and pointed the other palm at the crimson stone, raising it using energy and pulling it into the fire.

Fares watched intently, as the energy kept moving around Don's body. He shouldn't normally see this but when he saw Azkar use energy to make fire after he broke through. He realized that one could infuse energy to any body part to strengthen it, or even expel it outside their body to change the quantum construction of everything around him. The stronger the energy one has, the more he could change, he even predicted that if one had enough energy, they could change plants to water if one willed.

Since people here don't have a deep understanding of quantum physics, they could just do stuff to their basic understanding.

Fares kept on using energy on his eyes, to watch Don working in deeper details. Although Don didn't use any method he knew of that could melt or even reform that crimson rock, he still somehow managed to melt it and reform its shape to that of a broadsword without a hilt.

Fares saw the whole process on a quantum level when he opened the clog in his brain everything became even clearer to him, and he had even better cognitive and memory functions.

Don's technique was ingenious for someone who doesn't understand quantum physics, surprising Fares.

After a few hours of work, Don presented Fares with a broadsword that had a crimson red double-edged blade and an exquisite wooden hilt with engravings on it. The blade itself had letters from this world's language arranged over its edge.

For a person who lives here, writing meaningless letters on something as exquisite as this was too much of a waste. But for someone from where Fares came, it looked cool, especially that their letters were more like art engravings.

Fares asked the chief to do this, first because he thought their language was cool and secondly so that he could learn their language during his hunting trips.

"It's going to be a loooooong few days ahead of me." Fares sighed as he held the sword with stars-filled eyes as if he was holding his first newborn baby.
