First To Fall

It was currently around 4:30pm and Thaleus was walking leisurely back to the military dorms from town. He had just gotten a huge jump start in his progression to getting stronger and he felt like he was on top of the world. Word had been spread that he was the weakest of the 10 classes of students that came to train. This meant two things 1. he was an eaay target for harrassment. 2. He would have the most growth out of anyone in the next three years. Unfortunately harrassment comes way before graduation. A group of 4 students from one of the other classes that came in that day had heard how weak Thaleus was and heard his description. They were in a bad mood because they were some small fries in their class, so they decided they wanted to vent their frustration on him.

"Hey, what's up man my name's Ian"

The leader of the group came up acting friendly. he was a head shorter than Thaleus he had blonde hair and blue eyes and a bit of stubble already coming in on his chin.

"How's it goin I'm Thaleus" he replied happily not stopping his stride. A hand came out and grabbed Thaleus's shoulder.

"It's polite to stop when someone's talking to you" Ian said a little more menacingly.

"Look, i'm sorry man, but I'm in a hurry to get back to my room I havent set up my stuff yet." Thaleus apologized.

"Looks like he doesn't understand the situation boys." Ian chuckled

The others just looked at Thaleus and cracked their knuckles. Thaleus backed away a little when *ding* (special quest) defeat opponents 0/4

rewards: unkown, 40 skill points. Thaleus smiled and took up a defensive stance. It was an unfair fight but he knew if he was smart he could get out of this with little to no damage. "You guys picked the wrong day to fuck with me." Thaleus growled.

Although he had no weapons this time Thaleus wanted to try out the same technique as last time, but on his fists and maybe his legs if he got the chance. The worst part of this fight was Thaleus didn't know what abilities each person possessed. Oh, but luck was on his side. They all started using their abilities immediately since they thought they had this fight in the bag from the jump. Ian shot a green substance from his hand and Thaleus ducked under it turning around to see the pavement smoking. "Fuck, are these bastards trying to kill me?"

"Ronny wrap him up" Ian ordered. the tallest kid in the back started to stretch his arms to wrap them around him. At the last second Thaleus jumped over his arms grabbed his arms and knotted them together pulling hard. Ronny taken by surprise wasn't expecting to be pulled with so much power. His strength was the weakest and he relied on his rubber like body to tank hits. As he flew through the air towards him Thaleus focused his mind and tried using his time warp on just his fist to punch Ronny. *ding* (combat skill unlocked blink punch 2.5x damage cost: 10 stamina 5 mana.)

Ronnies eyes rolled into the back of his head as he collapsed. *ding* level up +10 skill points

"No way" Thaleus thought. Every time he leveled up his mana and stamina reset to max again.

"Shit alright guys altogether" Ian shot out acid again this time the boy on his left reached his hand out and shot a burst of wind to propel it faster. The third boy was about to act, but Thaleus had already disappeared.

All three of the boys were about 10 meters away which was just outside of Thaleus's Time Lapse ability. There was only one thing that he could do. He dumped all ten points into stamina making it 47. He then time warped towards them one time. As he came out of the warp he activated Time Lapse imediately warping forward again while still sprinting. 1 second had passed. Blink punch right in the Wind users face. *ding* level up +10 skill points . 2 seconds have passed Blink punch at the boy who was about to use his ability. *ding* level up +10 skill points. 3 seconds have passed. Blink punch at Ian *double blink* just to be sure this time. *bing* level up +10 skill points

"WHAT THE FUCK!" Thaleus thought. "Wait this is a joke right?"

"No, this is no joke Thaleus, if you had actually inspected them you would have realized that you had a slim chance of winning, I didn't expect that you would focus your powers on your fist and learn the blink punch. Most don't learn that till around level 15. You truly are a prodigy with these powers." Dom replied in detail catching Thaleus off guard.

"I actually wasn't expecting you to answer me" Thaleus grinned sheepishly.

"Well done on your first real life victory, you still have a long ways to go."

"Thank you for the praise."

"I give praise where praise is due."

"Looks like I need to get into the habit of using the inspect skill" Thaleus thought as he continued to walk back to the dorms. "Now where to put these points at?"
