Runes of Arcane Enlightenment

-" How brazen! To use Bewitching Vixen's blood in the tournament!" One of the nobles sneered as he saw sandworms emerging from the ground.

-" What's wrong with that? Didn't the girls also use monsters to get rid of their competition?" Marcius smiled, he liked the boy and the methods that he used.

-" They still depended on their own skill to attack and escape the monsters, different from the boy."

-" While using Bewitching Vixen's Blood isn't against the rules, it's truly a shameful method, especially when you are trying to show off your skills and capabilities."

Henry was almost asking for Hugh to send someone to save Makakyla and her friend, but every time he thought that she was sage, something even worse happened, and he couldn't watch his sister in danger any longer.

-" Indeed, this is quite the shameful method." Abel had a smile on his face as he gazed at the mirror screen. " But, what is even more shameful is that he is still going to lose."

-" Humph! You don't have to spew such absurd lies just because you bet on the wrong person." Marcius looked at Abel with a vicious grin, all he wanted to see was for him to lose his precious artifact.

-" It doesn't matter if you believe me or not." Abel was relaxed, he had waited patiently for Makayla to finally show the results of her training.

Henry returned his attention to the mirror screen, he was calmer now, as it looked like Makayla had prepared something for the tournament.

Makayla exhaled as she admired the sword's aura that swayed around gently. she thought back to the first time she saw Henry using the sword. The sword had caused quite the impression on her that night, and she always looked towards the day she could finally wield it.

She prepared her stance, and gathered the weapon's aura slowly, she didn't even pay attention to the sandworms around her, completely focusing on the blonde boy far away.

An eagle hovered up above Makayla, on its back one of the tournament staffers grinned as he noticed how strong the attack that the girl was preparing was." Well, those two aren't the ones going out." The man ordered his eagle to go toward the boy as he feared that an accident would happen if he didn't intervene.

Makayla emptied her chest of air and finally swung her sword, she was fed up with the boy, so she put the entirety of her frustration into the attack.

The sword's aura took a cerulean color as it shot out engulfing everything in its path, small white specks flickered as the cerulean energy wave surged.

The man atop the eagle looked at the attack with an astonished face, the power of this attack wasn't something he expected to see in this tournament.

He jumped out of the eagle's back and landed beside the blonde boy, who jumped in fright at the man's sudden arrival. -" Who are you? What you are doing?" The boy recognized the man's uniform.

-" Saving your ass." The tournament staffers looked at the boy with a mixture of pity and annoyance.

-" Saving me?" The blonde boy was confused, but, he let out a frightened cry as he turned around and finally noticed the surging cerulean wave of energy coming toward him.

The tournament staffer snorted as he saw the boy's reaction, and stomped on the ground, making the ground rise up and form a barrier. The sand barrier trembled as Makayla's attack collided with it.

The sand barrier began to show some cracks as the cerulean energy wave continued to push against it, making the tournament staffer even more impressed.

Makayla saw her attack being stopped and sighed, she wanted to pay back some of the pain she felt to the boy, but, it was clear that she wouldn't be able. -" Is he one of the tournament staffers?" Makayla wondered as the sand barrier came down and revealed the man standing beside the blonde boy.

-" It must be." Isabella grinned, it looked like the tournament staff was already watching their battle. " At least he is out of the tournament."

-" I guess." Makayla looked at the frenzied sandworms around her in contemplation. " How long can you maintain that thing?" She pointed to the elemental hovering around Isabella and asked.

-" Makayla! Don't call him a thing!" Isabella raised her hand and the elemental came closer. " He is my partner."

Makayla looked at the strange being and asked once again. " How long can will your partner last?"

-" Fifteen to twenty maximum, " Isabella had a notch on what Makayla was thinking.

-" It's enough time.." Makayla tightened the grip on her sword and gazed at one of the nearby sandworms. " Now, why don't we get a few points?" She swung her sword at the sandworm.

A fiery aura shot out of the sword this time, completely engulfing the worm, which began to growl in pain.

Isabella didn't sit still either, and lifted her wand, making her elemental fly up, and began to gather the surrounding water again.

Henry looked at Makayla in astonishment, he didn't really know what she had done, but, she now looked way more powerful.

-" To even pass the Runes of Arcane Enlightenment to her..." One of the nobles looked at Abel with a curious face. " I'm even thinking that one of the elders of your family had a bastard."

Henry was annoyed at the man calling Makayla a bastard, he even thought of using his Venerable H identity to scold the man, but, he chose to remain silent.

-" As I said before, the Whitelock family owes her brother a debt, so of course, we should repay it." Abel was proud of Makayla, it was only the beginning of the tournament, and her performance had already flabbergasted various spectators.

-" Sigh... And here I was thinking about inviting her to join our family." One of the old noble ladies spoke as she looked at Makayla. "And her friend is from the Elpest family so there is no way that I can snatch her." The lady had frustration written all over her face.

-" Those two are truly good gems, but, they aren't the only impressive participants." Another one of the nobles had begun to pay the attention to another mirror screen, where two participants fought. " Many of the participants this time are more polished."

The nobles watched in excitement as Makayla and Isabella cleaned the area of the monsters attracted by the Bewitching Vixen's Blood. Sandworms, Flaming Hide Jackals, and even another group of Water Calling Cactus had come to the area, giving them a good amount of monsters to hunt.

The two of them knew that if they gather a good amount of points now, they would never have the opportunity again, as they already had used their trump card, so they gave their best effort to kill as many monsters as they could.

And before long, the two were already in the top rankings of the tournament, and their points only kept increasing.

The blonde boy watched the girls dealing with the monster with an anguished face, if he knew that they were so powerful he would never mess with them. -" This is unfair!" He couldn't believe that in the end, it was him that was going to get disqualified.

-" Unfair?" The tournament staffer perked up his eyebrows. and gazed at the boy.

-" Yes! Why I'm even getting disqualified?" The boy grabbed the man's collar and continued to shout at him. " I never asked for help! I didn't even touch my bracelet!"

-" Did you seriously think that you could handle her attack?" The tournament staff grinned as he looked at the boy. " You should be thanking me that you still have your body whole."

-" It doesn't matter! They couldn't beat me!" The blond boy felt even more scorned as the man continued to mock him. " I won't accept this!"

The smile of the tournament staffer grew bigger as he looked at the monsters on the ground. -" You won't accept this?" He grabbed the boy's hands and lifted him. " So be it! If you want to keep participating in the tournament, why don't I give you some help?"

The boy wiggled his legs as he was dangled in the air. -" What are you doing? Stop!" The face of the boy was completely white, just the fall he would take if the man dropped him frightened him, not to speak of the various frenzied monsters on the ground.

-" Don't you want to return to the tournament?" The tournament staffer laughed joyfully as he saw how cowardly the boy was.

-" Still! You don't have to drop me." The boy was almost passing out from fright.

-" So you want me to land and put you on the ground? Tsk! Why don't I go and hunt some monsters for you too?" The man couldn't believe that the boy was so shameless.

-" Don't you fear that the Royal Academy will punish you?" The blonde boy tried to use the Royal Academy's name to make the man back off.

-" Do you seriously think that highly of yourself?" The man shook the boy and smiled. " The punishment that I would receive for dropping you wouldn't be much."

The blonde boy shivered with fear as he saw the man's gaze. -" Okay! Okay! Just bring me back!" The boy gazed at the two girls in rage and bit his lips, he placed the blame for being disqualified on them.

-" Oh? Finally gave up?" The tournament staff smiled and ordered his eagle to keep moving, however, he still kept the boy dangling.
