She's hurt, because...

"After her parents passed away, many things happened in her life."

Said Mr.D with a broken tone, as if all this is caused by him, which gives him so much pain. I wanted to know more. But I didn't feel like hurting his feelings.

"Is it because of her father's business?" I asked. Her father was a prominent figure as Mr.D told me earlier. But he kept his wife and daughter away from the limelight because he wanted them to have a simple lifestyle.

"She is an observer, she sees things we don't see," said Mr.D suddenly.

"What do you me?"

"She has premonition of things that will happen around her with people close to her."

"So she knew about her father, before?"

"Yes, so she mentally prepared a plan for how to overcome trouble that will come in the future. Those days were the cruelest for her. She became so isolated and had trouble in the place she worked."

"What about her mother?" I inquire.

"Aunt was overwhelmed by everything happening around. So Little Moon had to look after her as well as other things with a few family friends' help."

Mr.D seems to be drifting to that time when he was with her at first. I think it was at that time they grew close. A friendship blooming into a new horizon.

"She was also getting ready for the finals. Working full time during day time and studying during the night, while going through all the problems to solve." I saw a smile full of pride for her on his face.

"Must have been tough on her?"

"But she never complained, she went through all with a smile.I tried to help her with the things but she only asked when she really couldn't handle them on her own."

"Didn't have any friends to help her out?" I was curious, as to why Mr.D never mentioned her friends.

"She had but, they were just friends on benefits. They really didn't care about her or what she goes through."

"So ultimately, you became her best friend?" I asked. He looked at me and nodded to say yes.

"We became the best of best friends, we shared everything. The bond between us got so strong in a little time. Even without telling, we knew how we felt."

"Like you both had some connection from previous lives?"

"Yes, something like that I guess."

---------------------------------

Suddenly Mr.D laughed and said he used to write articles on the same paper as her when they were schooling. Even though Little Moon is 5 years younger than him, they had written similar things at the same time. Mr.D has seen a scrapbook at her place, filled with paper cuttings of her writings and his.

"Did you ask her why she collected them?" I asked him.

"When I asked she said, she really didn't know why." He smiled looking at me. He was talking about a past of more than fifteen years.

"I think it's destiny," I said, wondering if the connection I have with Little Moon is also created by destiny.

---------------------------------

"There was one time when she couldn't take it and thought of ending her life."

"Oh my.. how did you know about it?" I asked Mr. D as I was shocked by this piece of news.

"She talked to me, and something she said made me realize she was going through a mental breakdown."

"So..."

"I took her to her favorite place- the beach. The sea breeze while walking on the sandy beach can calm her down."

"I remember once she said while chatting that the beach is the only place that changes with every wave that hits the shore. I was quite surprised after what she said." I told Mr.D while thinking of some things I talked about with StarDust.

"Yes, she has told me that too. I have watched the sunset and the sunrise with her. Do you know what she loves most from both of them, George?"

"Hmm... the sunset...." I looked at Mr.D.

"I feel you understand her, George. She loves the sunset on the beach with stars and the moon shining above. I loved to watch her staring at the horizon for hours."

------------------------------

"Why didn't you two get together Mr.D?" A question that had lingered in my head for some time.

Mr.D gazed far and said, "Because of my sister. She hurt her so much that Little Moon lost most of her friends due to misunderstandings created by her wistful thinking. Little Moon got badly hurt which made her lose trust in others. "

I looked at him, to see how much he had to fight and bear with himself. I guessed it's more than what Mr.D shows to the outside world.

"Little Moon started to embrace loneliness. She only kept in touch with about five to or six people, others she gave up completely. And I am the only person she fully openly talked was me," he looked down while touching the yellow roses, " for the last twelve years."

Not a twist but the fictional truth.
