Chapter 14 The Prison

In fact, the location of the secret mutant prison is not as far away as Austin imagined. It was on the border of Texas, on the surface it looked like a military base, similar to a logistics factory like an arms factory. The prison was hidden underground, and there was even a railway not far away.

"Of course, I remember, it's just, what if, I mean what if, President X uses his telepathy to discern our thoughts in advance and sets a trap waiting for us to enter, what should we do?" Pietro asked nervously and rhetorically.

"It won't happen." Pietro had asked similar questions all the way, and Austin was really a bit tired of it. The two chatted intermittently, and soon the sky darkened and the vast Gobi Desert* sank into darkness.

"Be careful, don't be as hasty as last time. My body can't take it." Austin opened his mouth while lying on Pietro's back, but he regretted it when he finished speaking, as it sounded strange.

However, Pietro, who was in a tense state, didn't care about that, he didn't reply, but after Austin was ready, he directly began to run wildly, getting closer and closer to the military base like a shooting star.   

Because he had escaped from prison several times, Pietro was still familiar with the security here, and soon, without alerting any guards, he arrived at the secret mutant prison hidden under the military base.

When Austin came back to his senses and the vision in front of him was clear again, he once again felt his stomach roll, only this time he held back.

Looking around, he was inside a lounge, a very simple room with only an inner window and two bunk beds, with two soldiers sleeping on the bunks, but with Pietro's help, they could no longer wake up.

The walls of the room had long since lost their paint, the bedposts were rusty, and the air was filled with an unbearable stench, so Austin felt like he was back in Emma's underground laboratory in an instant. "How many years has this place been built?"

"Not quite sure." Pietro shook his head, honestly. "When I came in I heard that this place has been around for decades, I heard that it was there during World War II. At that time, soldiers rushed mutants onto the battlefield to make them moving targets, and they were not allowed to retreat. Anyone who retreated would die. At that time, those mutants could only be forced to charge forward.

Later the war ended, some of the mutants who survived were secretly executed, and some were transported here to conduct all kinds of experiments, only that nothing was ever researched until President X came to power and took over this place, and it was only then that this place was truly converted into a mutant prison."

"There's still such a history." Austin sighed.

"Of course, I'm only hearing about it from hearsay, after all, I didn't live in that era, so I can't say if it's true or not, but I think it's a bit more likely to be true, after all, I've literally met quite a number of guys who are of the same kind as I am, and the vast majority of them were tortured by this kind of power and turned into madmen."

"I understand, that's why I feel that this world has been sick for a long time." Austin changed into his soldier's clothes.

"Remember, the whole prison is a 'U' shape with four floors. The lower it goes, the more uncontrollable the detained mutants. I suggest you give up on the fourth floor and start from the third floor up. That bastard Fisk's office and room are at the end of the corridor on this floor. The stairs to the floor below are on the right side of this room."

Pietro took out a few sets of keys from his arms, obviously, in a short period of time, he had already done a lot of things unknowingly.

"OK, I got it." Austin received three bunches of keys from Pietro's hand, in fact, there were four floors in total, which corresponded to having four bunches of keys, however, Austin and Pietro thought the same thing - they didn't plan to directly release the mutants on the bottom floor from the start.
