Chapter 45

Meanwhile, we see Lilith in a hallway and in front of Abe's room. She knocked on the door, but there was no response as she still looked worried. She was about to knock on the door, until it open and she ended up tapping Abe on the face.

"Ah!" Abe responded, while covering his head with his right hand.

"I-I am so sorry! Are you okay?" Lilith responded, frantically.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Did you want something?" Abe asked.

Lilith took a good look at Abe as he looked devasted. His eyes were swollen, black under his eyes and his hair was a mess as he was in his indoor clothes.

"I wanted to check on you. I was really worried about you." Said Lilith.

"Well, I'm fine. Thanks for your concern. But you don't have to be here." Said Abe.

"No! You need someone with you! I can't imagine what you're going through. But I know how it feels to suffer through difficult times." Said Lilith.

"You understand? How can you understand what I'm going through!? From what I remember, you barely know your family! And didn't you mother sold you? So how can you understand what loss is?" Abe responded with anger.

Silence fell upon them as Lilith stepped back with watery eyes, while Abe realized what he said.

"Lilith, I—" Said Abe.

But Lilith ran away, crying as Abe tried reaching out to her. But he went back to his room and as he was about to close the door. He quickly remembered Ana as he stopped himself. Abe then gave a frustrated look on his face as he slapped himself on the forehead.

"Idiot!" Abe said to himself.

He quickly grabbed a pair of shoes and ran after Lilith. We then see her walk out of the boys dorm, trying to hide her tears. She kept on walking, acting like nothing happen. But she couldn't stop her tears, until she noticed someone walking ahead of her. She looked up and saw Vergil walking with Delilah with his hand on her shoulder as they were heading to the main campus building.

"Delilah…?" Said Lilith.

"Lilith!" Abe shouted.

Lilith heard him but didn't look at him as she ran towards the main office.

"Hey, wait!" Abe shouted.

Lilith walked into the main building and saw Delilah and Vergil as she ran to them.

"Delilah!" Lilith shouted.

Delilah stopped and turned, while Vergil stopped as well. Delilah saw Lilith as she was surprised, while Lilith hugged her as she teared up.

"I can't believe it. It's really you!" Lilith cried.

"Lilith…?" Said Delilah.

"I'm sorry, but please step back." Said Vergil as he pulled Lilith away from her.

"Where are taking her?" Lilith asked.

"That is information for hunters to know. I can't tell students." Said Vergil.

"Lilith, just go away." Said Delilah.

"But Delilah…" Said Lilith.

"Lilith!" Said Abe as he ran in.

"Come on." Said Vergil as they kept on walking.

"No, wait!" Said Lilith as Abe reached her.

But Camille, Merlin's assistant, stepped in and stood in her way as she gave a serious look.

"I am sorry, but if you go any further. I will be forced to escort you out of the building. With force if necessary." Said Camille.

"Please, let me through! I have to talk to her! I want to talk to my sister!" Lilith shouted.

Vergil and Abe were shocked as Delilah didn't respond. It would be moments later as we see Lilith sitting together with Lilith and Abe as Camille was at her desk quickly typing. Then they remember moments before as we see Vergil approach Lilith and Abe.

"If that's true. Camille, after Merlin is done talking with Isaac and his gang. Tell him about these two being siblings and see what actions he wants to take." Said Vergil.

"Why? What did she do? Lilith asked.

"Your sister was a part of Ana's death." Said Vergil.

"What!?" Lilith and Abe responded.

"And if you're really sisters, we need questions that can be answered by you. Since we're taking her to be questioned. Abe, can you make sure she stays here?" Said Vergil.

"Uh, yeah." Abe replied.

"Good. It's good seeing you walk around. I'm sorry about what happened. C'mon." Said Vergil to Delilah as they left.

They fade out of the memory as it was awkward between the two of them. Lilith made sure she was on the other end of Abe as she looked upset.

"Lilith, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those words." Said Abe.

"Then why did you say them? Yeah, I don't know what loss is. But I know how it feels to have a sibling. Even though, our relationship is different compared to you and Ana. I know that feeling. That's why I was so worried about you. But I guess going to see you was a mistake on my end." Said Lilith as Abe moved closer to her.

"No, it wasn't it! I made it into a mistake. You've been so nice to me. Even after, staring too much at you. I never want to lose a friend for something I've done. So please, forgive me." Said Abe as he gently held her hand.

Lilith liked the way he held her hand as Abe quickly let go, looking adorably embarrassed.

"S-Sorry." Abe apologized.

"W-We'll see." Said Lilith.

Meanwhile, in Merlin's office we see the gang all in shock, while Isaac was surprised.

"NANI!?" Garry shouted.

"Wha…?" Jasper responded.

"Exactly!" Garry replied.

"Did I hear you right? Franklin, is there something in my ear?" Violet asked.

"Nah, you're good." Said Franklin, not looking.

"You're not checking!" Said Violet.

"You want us to…" Said Scarlet.

"Be the replacement team for Salem Academy?" Marcus asked.

"Yes, that is exactly what I said." Said Merlin.

"Why?" Iris asked.

"Yeah, why?" Garry asked.

"Because you're the only students who know how to work as a team. And there's seven of you. Eight, technically speaking. But Isaac is going to be excluded." Said Merlin.

"Why? Is it because he's Isaac?" Violet asked.

"To be fair, yes." Said Merlin.

"No fair!" Violet shouted.

"But the reason why is because I'm going to be part of a task team to take down the bastard who killed Ana and her relatives. Unless you want to take my place?" Said Isaac.

"Oh. Then I'll go with the tournament package." Said Violet with her hand raised.

"But who's going to lead us?" Jasper asked.

"Who else? Marcus." Isaac answered.

"Huh!? M-Me?" Marcus responded as he pointed at himself.

"We put our lives in your hands. You're big, strong hands." Said Violet as she drooled and touched Marcus's arms.

"Can you take this serious?" Said Marcus.

"I know this sounds sudden, but you all are my only best chance at winning this tournament. I would choose our top students at this school. But they most of them work on their own and if they are willing, then they would need time to prepare and train. To learn each other's strengths and weakness. So you all are my only chance." Said Merlin.

"But we're average compared to them!" Said Garry.

"Yeah, Ana's team were all mostly powerhouses or cunning thinkers." Said Franklin.

"Smartest one out of all of us is literally Scarlet." Said Jasper as he pointed.

"Oh, thank you." Said Scarlet, bashfully.

"Is that what you guys really think?" Isaac asked as he stepped closer to them.

They all looked at him as Isaac looked at all of them with confidence.

"You guys are better than you think. You have a lot of potential. Yeah, you may not be the brightest bunch. But you're the best team I know. I know you all can do this. I have faith in each and every one of you." Said Isaac.

"Stop, you'll make me blush." Said Violet.

"But if you think we can do it…" Said Jasper.

"C'mon, guys! We got this! Let's do this for Ana and her team! Let's at least do that for them. Who's with me?" Said Franklin with his hand out.

"You know I'm with you, bro!" Said Garry as he put his hand in.

"Yeah." Said Iris as she nodded and put her hand in.

"You'll obviously need me. The smart one." Said Scarlet as she did as well.

"Okay, don't get full of yourself." Said Garry.

"Eh, screw it. I'm in." Said Jasper as he put his hand in.

"AH! Franklin, you got me all hype! Let's do it!" Said Violet as she put her hand in.

They all looked at Marcus as he turned around giving his back to him.

"Seriously!?" Violet yelled.

"I'm thinking! From what I saw, all of the other students are strong as hell in their own way. And it is a bit intimidating." Said Marcus.

"Sooooo…" Said everyone, besides Isaac and Merlin.

"But I'm not back down to a challenge like that! Let's do this!" Marcus shouted as he put his hand in.

"Yeah!" The gang shouted.

"Questions, do we get matching uniforms?" Violet asked.

"Oh, yeah! Teenage monsters with attitude!" Said Garry.

"No, you're uniforms and gym clothes will be suffice." Said Merlin.

"Okay~!" Said Violet.

It would be moments later as they all were walking out and saw Abe and Lilith still waiting.

"So should we train?" Scarlet asked.

"Might as well, right, Isaac?" Marcus asked.

"Don't look at me. You're the leader now. But I'm still above you, though." Said Isaac.

"No arguments here." Said Marcus.

"Isaac, I'm going to need you a bit longer." Said Merlin.

The gang left, all hyped up as they were making noise in the hallway. Isaac approached Merlin as he stood in front of Abe and Lilith and Delilah, while Camille told him everything.

"I see. You three step into my office." Said Merlin.

"But I was just in there." Said Isaac.

They went back into the office as Abe and Lilith sat down, while Isaac leaned against a wall, next to one of the office windows.

"Lilith, I need you to cooperate with me and to please answer every question I ask honestly and truthfully. Because I know when someone is lying to me." Said Merlin.

"Magic?" Isaac asked.

"You know it." Said Merlin.

"If I do so, will you let me talk to Delilah?" Lilith asked.

"I will do everything I can to make it happen. That I promise." Said Merlin.

"Okay. What do you want to know?" Lilith asked.

"When was the last time you saw her?" Merlin asked.

"It wasn't long ago. Almost a year." Lilith replied.

"Do you know why she would be working for Bram?" Merlin asked.

"She's not working for him. She's his slave. My mother sold her and I to him. And he…used us as he wished. He made Delilah into his own personal servant. He uses her for fighting, errands and whatever he doesn't want to do." Said Lilith.

"I see. Do you think she will tell us anything about him?" Merlin asked.

"No. He made sure that she will always be loyal to him. All slaves are put under a spell brand to be loyal to their masters. Even I had one placed on me. But I was lucky to have mine nullified. And if they betray them, the spell kills them instantly." Said Lilith.

"Well, there goes that plan." Said Isaac.

"What's the point of all this!? Why can't you guys send your strongest hunters and kill this bastard once and for all!" Abe yelled.

"Hey, easy." Said Isaac.

"NO! He killed Ana! My sister, your friend! Aren't you furious about not doing anything?" Abe yelled.

"I am pissed, Abe. I'm mad as hell! But he took out Ana. He was able to outsmart Van and have him injured by other demons. Hell, he's working with another group that's making sure that he doesn't fail at this. So think about it for a second. We would've had him dead as soon as we had the chance. But we don't. This demon is deadly, has connections and is a high class of his race. He won't be easy to kill." Said Isaac.

"From what Kiyomi has told us, he's able to regenerate at fast speed. And she's known to cut down her enemies in one strike. And they never get back up. Abe, I understand you are angry and frustrated. But if we're not careful, we will lose more people. Even you since you're his next target." Said Merlin as Lilith was shocked.

"Then what's the plan? Because I want to help! I want to make sure he pays for what he's done!" Said Abe.

"We've already have a plan ready, kid." Said Van.

Abe and the others looked back as they Van, Vergil, Jennifer, Yuko and Christine were with him.

"And this time, he's ass is going to be sent to hell." Said Van.
