Mirror: Ancient god of Mirrors

The Earth lay in a state of formlessness, devoid of power and life. It was a desolate realm, lacking even the concept of reality. The world existed as an expanse of emptiness, an endless void and space where nothing could dwell. For thousands of years, time flowed swiftly, yet the Earth remained unchanged. It seemed as though it was cursed by time itself, trapped in a stagnant existence akin to an ancient vessel. But then, from the depths of cryostasis, someone awakened. An ancient aura descended upon the Earth, instantly overwhelming everything within its reach. Though there was nothing within the void, it began to split and crack under the weight of this indomitable force. The darkness in the sky churned and swirled in response to the unbearable aura emanating from the mysterious figure. Standing amidst the vastness of outer space, the man gazed upon the planet of blackness. The darkness that enshrouded the Earth was oppressive and stifling. Change was necessary, something needed to shift. This being was short in stature but possessed a muscular build, and had a face concealed by thick darkness. His visage was hidden, for anyone who beheld it would be consumed by the truth of his being. But there was no one to witness it. The universe appeared to be in a state of laxity, with no external force capable of altering this fact. And then, with a sweeping motion of his hands, the void and space were torn asunder. A formidable shockwave rippled through the fabric of existence, dividing the waters that had compressed into a single form. It became evident that this seemingly boundless water had been compressed in such a manner. However, every power has its limits, and it was possible that the waters were truly bottomless. Yet, the man's power concealed that fact. Swirling black tendrils streaked across the expanse, severing the darkness and reducing the endless abyss to a sky pit. The sky pit, a supernatural realm, devoured anything that ventured into its depths, condemning it to eternal loss. As land emerged, celestial bodies materialized out of the blue. The sun, the moon, and other planets revealed themselves. The being did not create them; these celestial entities had been concealed, only to be unveiled by the manifestation of his mighty powers. The sun cast its radiant light upon the newly formed planet. And as the planet took shape, life mysteriously appeared. Plants, animals, and eventually humans came into existence. Once again, the being ventured into outer space. He unleashed his powers, creating a formless energy known as "Mirror," which flooded into the sky pit. The Mirror energy possessed reflective properties, harking back to the days of the gods when the being himself had been an unrivaled, peerless youth. He had the ability to create Mirror energy, and those who absorbed it could reflect their own powers back upon themselves. Mirror was the miracle of the universe. From Mirror energy, he bestowed unique Aspect abilities. Fourteen ranks were meant to be unlocked, but only seven were unlocked by the most individuals. Upon inheriting the Mirror energy, they became Seekers. Their souls were engraved upon reflecting mirrors, rendering them immune to the corruption that could potentially invade their beings.

Critical Crossroad

Chapter 8— Critical Crossroad

"Rex, you left on your own again?"

Jake sounded very upset that Rex forgot how to breath for a while.

"Where are you now?" He tried to calm himself.

Rex lingered.

"The market!"

Jake was instantly infuriated.

"The market? How could you Rex? You knew fully well that this was exactly where you disappeared. Do you always want me to keep worrying? Do you always want the likes of me risking my life to save yours... or even risking our both lives?"

Rex was damned.

"Sorry, I didn't inform you. I wanted to find someone and I know that you would never let me go. Truly, no one can harm me now. I swear."

"Are you sure, because you always land in one trouble or the other and I tend to locate you just to save your ass out there... your parents didn't die for you to be so stupid and careless!!"

Jake said with rage. But almost immediately, he regretted saying what he had just said.

When he noticed Rex unusual silence at the other end, he felt a sudden fear.

Why would he... why did he add Joseph and Hannah into this? What would he do now?

Jake felt like bashing his head against the wall.

"I... I'm sorry Rex, I don't mean to..."

The call suddenly went dead and Jake sighed.

He definitely was not supposed to say that to him.

Meanwhile, Rex was saddened after the mention of his parents that he did not know how the call actually disconnected. When he checked the mobile, the network's bar had completely disappeared.

He simply kept the phone into his pocket and left.

But, he met Kevin, Jace and Jared who smiled at his misfortune.

"Well, well, well... look who escaped from us the last time. Never imagined you'd meet us again, at this very spot."

Jace said but Rex sighed.

"What do you want this time?"

Rex questioned and Kevin instantly attacked with his power of reality.

That minute Kevin unleashed his power, Rex saw.

[Mental Stealth activated]

The system protected him from Kevin's mental attack.

These abilities were activated automatically and that, at least saved Rex the stress of actually activating it.

When Rex did not flinch or falter at the attack, Kevin's brows furrowed.

He then, used the full brunt of his mental attack, this time... Rex's Mental Stealth could only filter in a little mind attack which Rex could manage to shrug off.

Kevin was stumped.

Was it not this same powers that had almost crippled Rex the last time? Now, he was barely affected by it.

"What did you do?"

Kevin asked and Rex immediately sneered, something he would have never done to them.

"Listen I am asking what it is that you want from me and you think that keeping me here would actually solve your problem?"

Jared was angered.

"You dare challenge us? You dare talk to us in such fashion?"

Immediately, feathers manifested around Jared and an impulsive tremor ran around it causing a great instability to the air and the void around it.

And then, when Jared sent one of the feathers towards Rex, he retaliated with a punch.

After lifting heavy weights for almost three weeks, and not the same weight, weights increases each day. So, after lifting heavy weights for almost three weeks, Rex strength could already Rival a peak Mage or a Legion at the least.

When his punch collided on the feather, the impact caused a deafening collision and everything shattered beneath dust and stones.

Jared's pupils shrank.

Seeing such strength caused Jace to instantly wonder what happened.

Did Rex awaken? Did he receive any blessings from the mirror energy?

No... he wasn't yet awakened. But, what exactly changed? They couldn't tell.

Jace was reluctant but, he nonetheless attacked by manipulating his frozen popsicles to form a massive ice crater. This ice crater towered beyond what Rex could comprehend and of course, Rex did not know how to counter it.

Should he use his Mirror ability?

Should he knock himself unconscious? Because only when he was knocked unconscious would his powers take over him, but Rex shook his head.

He didn't want to actually be the one to knock himself out, these three would foolishly do it and also, to their detriment.

Rex smiled at Jace.

He turned towards Jared and his smile turned even sinister.

He didn't look at Kevin at all and a cold shiver ran down Kevin's spine.

Jace was suddenly hesitating, but Jared screamed.

"Blast him Jace! We should knock him out and abduct him. Do it Jace! We might earn some money from his worthless parents or guardians."

Jace did not resist anymore and then, the massive icy crater descended towards Rex and then, Rex was blasted backwards in a deafening crack.

He fell unconscious.

But, the next minute after Rex fell unconscious, he woke up.

But, something was definitely different. Jace, Kevin and Jared could see it. His eyes was shockingly listless.

Jared immediately attacked with the void and, layers of it peeled and shattered around Rex, but...

Suddenly, a single shard of mirror appeared before them and then, a terrifying might caused shockwaves to instantly spread.

The three of them were rendered defenseless at this display and they fell prey to the mirror prison.

What Rex realized next was, he just woke up from sleep and, a tiny shard of mirror in his grasp.

Rex shrugged and tossed the glass shard into his bag.

********

Rex wanted to continue towards that place he had been held as a prisoner, but somehow he remembered Jake and decided to return home.

Seeing Rex from afar, Jake was instantly relieved. The boy was safe, and didn't seem to have been in any form of trouble.

When Rex arrived, Jake felt a bit guilty with his choice of words, but before he could utter a single apology, something strange unfolded.

Both Rex and Jake felt a terrifying sense of crisis.

It was as though, the universe was unleashing threshold of darkness from it's embellished atmosphere.

Tendrils of darkness was seeping through the void, instantly shattering and rendering it useless.

Rex's eyes widened.

This was defilement... this was a full blown corruption and it was blooming right within their apartment.
