Chapter 80 Infiltration

(Sorry For the Delay...Bad Internet)

"People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define 'reality'. But what does it mean to be 'correct' or 'true'? Merely vague concepts... Their 'reality' may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?" Itachi Uchiha ~ Naruto

Now, the question hung heavy in the salty air: who was this stranger, and what game was she playing? Would she be the medium qof their vengeance or their ultimate downfall? The tension snapped, replaced by a chilling certainty: the path to retribution had just taken a sharp and unpredictable turn.

The woman stepped fully into the moonlight, her eyes glinting like chipped ice in the darkness. Her beauty was captivating, almost ethereal, yet a cold wind seemed to emanate from her, chilling Kaito and his men to the bone. Her smile, like a predator's, held the promise of both salvation and annihilation.

"Miyuki and her vipers," she began, her voice a seductive purr, "they've taken everything from you. Your livelihoods, your reputations, even the comfort of your homes. Tell me, Kaito, does the fire of your rage still burn bright?"

Kaito's grip tightened on the doorknob. He met her gaze, his own smoldering with a mix of suspicion and desperation. "Who are you?" he growled, his voice a rasp against the wind. "And what game are you playing?"

The woman tilted her head, her laugh tinkling like shattered glass. "A game of shadows, Kaito," she replied, her smile widening. "A game where vengeance comes at a price."

Intrigued and wary, Kaito ushered her inside. The flickering lamplight revealed more of her, a serpent-like tattoo coiling up her arm, her eyes a stormy grey that danced with secrets. In the worn faces of his men, Kaito saw a flicker of hope, a desperate willingness to gamble with this enigmatic stranger.

She introduced herself as Akari, a name as sharp as her smile. She spoke of being an outsider, someone who had crossed paths with Miyuki and tasted the sting of her treachery. Her vendetta, she claimed, mirrored theirs, and she offered them a path to reclaim their lives, a viper's bite for Miyuki's viper's nest.

But her proposition was far from bloodless. Akari demanded not just their trust, but their complete obedience. She laid out a meticulous plan, a chess game they were to play blindly, trusting every move she made. Failure, she warned, would be swift and fatal.

For days, the cabin thrummed with hushed whispers and furtive movements, where Akari would come to them exactly at midnight, and leave with the first ray of sun.

Kaito and his men sometimes tried to follow behind her, but as soon as she stepped out, she would vanish in thin air, leaving behind just a breeze of cold wind, combined with the humming of the birds.

Akari drilled them in tactics and subterfuge, weaving a web of deception that would infiltrate Miyuki's very foundation. Their anger, now honed into a sharpened blade, became their fuel, their only solace the promise of retribution.

As the night of their mission approached, a suffocating tension clamped down on the lodge. Kaito's heart hammered against his ribs, fear and anticipation twisting in his gut. He met the eyes of his men, each reflecting the same desperate gamble, the same question: was this their salvation, or their final dance with death?

Under the cloak of the moon, they slipped out of the abandoned beach, shadows swallowed by the darkness. Akari led them through confusing back alleys and deserted streets, guiding them as if it's her backyard, something that chilled Kaito even further. He had become accustomed to her cryptic words, her secrets veiled behind a mesmerizing smile.

They reached their destination: Miyuki's glamorous mansion, one built out of bribery and seduction, a shining palace bathed in the cold light of security floodlights.

Apparently Miyuki had held a party, celebrating the promotion, and all the officers were invited by Miyuki and her subordinates. Fear clenched Kaito's throat, but Akari's hand, icy cold and strangely comforting, gripped his shoulder. "Remember, Kaito," she whispered, her voice a serpent's hiss in the night, "Vengeance is a delicate dish. Savor it slowly, and make her choke on the bitterness."

With that, she disappeared into the shadows, leaving Kaito and his men standing at the precipice of their gamble. The path to retribution lay before them, shrouded in darkness and whispers of danger.

Their choices, and Akari's true intentions, remained as mysterious as the woman herself. Would they emerge from the shadows as avengers, or become consumed by the flames they unleashed?

Miyuki's mansion, perched arrogantly on a cliff overlooking the glittering city, was a monument to stolen dreams. Alabaster walls gleamed under the moonlight, casting stark shadows that mirrored the darkness in Kaito's heart. Crystal chandeliers dripped from the impossibly high ceilings, bathing the interior in an icy luminescence that chilled the air and the spirit. Every inch screamed wealth, every angle exuded an aura of cold superiority.

Akari, a whisper against the opulent backdrop, traced the outline of the mansion with her gaze. "Eyes sharp, ears open," she murmured, her voice a slithering hiss in the wind. "They'll expect force, so we become ghosts." and ghosts they became.

Under Akari's precise guidance, they slipped through forgotten tunnels that snaked beneath the manicured gardens. The guards, fat and complacent, patrolled the glittering surface, oblivious to the infiltration taking place right under their feet.

Reaching a ventilation shaft near the mansion's roof, Akari instructed them to use the cramped metal arteries to infiltrate the upper floors. Kaito went first, the rough metal scraping against his skin, the stale air thick with dust. Each creak of the rusted opening and each rasp of his breath felt like a betrayal to their silence.

Finally, all of them emerged into a deserted wing, moonlight filtering through tall windows draped in bright velvet. Kaito's heart hammered against his ribs, the smell of old money and polished mahogany a heavyweight in the stale air.

Akari, silent as a viper, led them through a maze of corridors, bypassing security cameras with uncanny precision. She seemed to anticipate each obstacle, her movements fluid and effortless, as if the mansion was imprinted in her mind.

Reaching a heavily guarded chamber, Akari unveiled the final stage of her plan. With a flick of her wrist, she tossed a small sphere against the wall. It exploded in a flash of blinding light and a thick cloud of smoke, momentarily disorienting the guards. In that instant of chaos, Kaito and his men surged forward.

Kaito and his men emerged from the shadows, their whispers replaced by the sharp crack of knuckles and the hissed threats that echoed through the luxurious halls of Miyuki's stolen paradise.

Kaito fueled by rage and desperation, led the charge, his eyes searching for the woman who had orchestrated their downfall. In the ensuing chaos, the lines between justice and revenge blurred, the mansion morphing into a battleground where shadows danced and secrets bled into the cold moonlight.

They attacked the nearby guards swiftly subduing them, rendering them unconscious, hidden in one of the many storerooms on that floor, their hands and legs tied, mouths gagged, and blindfolded rendering them immobile.

There were only two-three guards up there, and actually, they weren't even guards, they were just fat complacent, low self-esteemed men who had a high inferiority complex and were filled with insecurities appointed to do the odd jobs of the mansion.

As for why they were on guard duty, well they were ugly, Miyuki who was concerned and conscious about appearances, didn't consider these men important and thought that these men held no value that's why she ordered them to stay up as she didn't want to shame herself in front of her guests so she told them to stay on the upper floors and provide for things asked for.

Once these pseudo guards were silenced, Kaito and the others hid themselves in the farthest storeroom of the mansion.

Apparently, the farthest store room on the floor had a really good strategic advantage offering an unobstructed view of the lavish party unfolding below and they could easily keep an eye on their targets and meticulously plan their next actions while ensuring they remained unseen and undetected amidst the luxury of the event.

Miyuki and her subordinates still unaware of this infiltration were busy enjoying their party without a single shred of worry, totally unaware that this was going to be their last party of life.

While Kaito and his men were sitting in the farthest room planning their plan of action Akari was in the room where those so-called guards were tied up.

By now the guards had also woken up, seeing Akari they had fear in their eyes, seeing her approaching their heartbeats quickened as Akari's figure distorted, the girl now turned into a boy, in full black stealth suit, and a black orca mask.
