Chapter 9

Max couldn't stop crying as he looked at his bloody hands. His head was playing the scenes repeatedly and making him feel guilty even more. He despretly tried to clean them on the white tile floors but it just made him feel even worse as the crimson colour stood out.

"Fermo! Non piangere sul latte versato." His brother snapped at him. He could still see Xaviers' scowl when he looked at him with blurry eyes.

(Stop. It's no use crying over spilled milk.)

"It's not your first time killing someone. Dammit."

Max just looked down at his hands and then up at the dead body. It just made him cry even more.

How could he not cry when he could still hear the sounds of the bullets resounding in his ears? How could he not cry when he had killed an innocent soul?

He wanted to be like his brother But, He so desperately did not want to feel this guilt that always made it hard for him to breathe. He wanted to be strong.

"How many times do I have to tell you, Max, that boys don't cry?" Xavier asked him as he crouched down on the floor in front of him. "Why must you always make me angry, raggazo?" (Boy)

He feared to be slapped for his vulnerability again but found an earring been put in front of him. He knew the earring was of the innocent girl he killed. He trembled and another round of tears escaped his eyes.

Xavier then proceeded to pick up the earring and put it in his pocket.

"Every killer has his souvenir from his first kill. Treasure it."

"Do you still have yours, Xav?"

"Si."

Xavier pulled a handkerchief and handed it to him. Max dried his tears with it and blows his nose before returning it to him.

He sees that the handkerchief is soft and has a letter on it in the corner.

Xavier gives him a wolfish grin and says, "It was this handkerchief. "

As he stepped into his office he saw Matteo sleeping on his couch. He went up to him and slapped his head.

Mattel jolted up and looked around the office with his gun in his hand.

Xavier goes around the desk and sits on his chair.

"I said to complete all the tasks while I was gone. What are you doing sleeping on the couch?" Xavier confronted.

"I completed all the work. I just wanted to take a nap as yesterday night was restless."

He says rubbing his head and sitting up straight.

Xavier raises his brow questioning him.

"Last night I got into a fight with Bianca." He mumbled while rubbing sleep from his eyes. "How was Nonna?"

"Alive."

"And you...? Do I need to call a doctor over? Are you wounded badly?" He gets up quickly and walks over to him.

"I am fine. Now go and interview the candidates waiting."

Mattel looks at him one last time before leaving to do his job.

Xavier's phone rings suddenly.

It was his father.

He ignores the call and goes back to work.

But his father is as stubborn as him and calls continuously.

Frustrated, He picks up the call.

"What?"

"How was your trip to Noona's house?" Stephen asked in a hurry.

"Why do you wanna know?"

"Just answer the question. Did he say anything about the Famiglia?"

"It was nice." And with that he hung up.

He probably wanted to know if Xavier got beaten up or removed from being Capo.

Smirking, He resumed to work.

The ride back home was the same as that of coming. It was full of silence. But this time there was no tension.

Xavier had his eyes bored and was leaning back on his seat while I sat there staring at the surroundings.

After a few minutes, I felt like I was being stared at. I looked over at him and found him staring right into my eyes.

"What?"

Shaking his head, He resumed to staring creepily.

"Stop staring at me like that, you creep."

He smirked but closed his eyes.

I was sitting on the couch eating some strawberries. I texted Bianca to come over.

After a minute or so I heard the door bell ring.

That was fast!

I opened the door and Bianca rushed in and went straight to the kitchen.

She cane out with a bottle of water and sat on the couch. She drank the whole bottle in one sip.

"Woah slow down. Or you might choke." I warned her.

"I...ran... the whole way...here." She said breathlessly.

"Ok. Deep breathes."

After she calmed down she mumbled, "Damn. I need to excersice." She looked over at me worried. "Anyway, How was It? Did Noona beat or scold Xavier? Did he dethrone him?"

"Relax. He did beat Xavier but he didn't really dethrone him. He is still Capo. He is The Don."

She smiled and breathed out a sigh of relief.

"That's good. Many people are curious of what might have happened? I think even Maria and suocero will want know the status. Be careful." (Father in law)

They really dislike Xavier huh. They are going to disappointed after knowing about this.
