What if I had lost her just like dad?

Could you do me a favour?

"Yeah, sure. What is it?" Ian asks.

Could you take some fresh clothes for me and bring them to me?

"Why? Where are you?"

I am in the hospital.

"What happened?! Why are you there?" he asks, worried.

I will tell you when you arrive.

Also, can you tell Lucas to get my motor for me?

I left it behind. I say.

He agreed. After that, I told him the hospital's address and where my motor was.

We say our byes.

After 30 minutes, Ian arrives, and I go downstairs.

He gives me the clothes.

I go to the toilet and change into them.

I throw my old clothes away and go back to Ian.

"Will you tell me what happened?" he asks.

I could hear that he was worried.

I sit on the bench outside the house exhaustively.

The energy of my body got drained out.

She.... just like dad... I say, breaking out in tears.

Ian comes sitting next to me.

"Hey, it is okay," he says while putting his arm over me.

She.... wanted to commit suicide, Ian. I say with complex.

Do you know what is worse?

She was happy the whole day.

No one noticed something.

I had this weird feeling in my stomach because she said strange things, but if I had not gone to her, then..... then she... would have been gone. I say with heavy breathing.

"You saved her. You at least noticed something," Ian says, giving me a brotherly hug.

I don't know what I would have done if she had been gone, just like dad.

"But she is not. And she is alive because you saved her," says Ian.

After I calmed down, Ian let go of me.

"It had been a long time since you had opened up to me like this. I know this wasn't what we all had hoped for, but I like the new you," he says, giving a faint smile.

I don't look at him.

All I could think about was Mia.

"How is she now?" asks Ian.

She is in the recovery room.

No one can visit her till tomorrow. I say.

"Have you eaten anything?" he asks.

I shake my head.

I don't have the appetite to eat.

"Don't do the same thing again. Would you want Mia to see you like this when she wakes up?" he asks.

I didn't say anything to him.

I knew what he meant but couldn't think about anything other than Mia.

He sighs.

"Anyways, I will get you something to eat, and you will try, okay?"

I nod my head.

"Oh, by the way, Lucas will come too," he says, walking away.

I kick away a flower pot in anger and sadness.

The memories of my father drown in.

I sit back down on the bench, frustrated.

After a while, I feel something over me.

A jacket.

I quickly look to my side and see Lucas.

"I heard what happened. I saw Ian on my way here," he says, sitting down gently.

I nod my head.

Thank you for coming, man.

"There is no thank you's between friends. Are you okay?" he asks.

I don't know.

I have just met her, but it feels like my whole world would have crumbled if she was gone.

"I know, man. I know when you care for someone. Do you want to put off some steam?" Lucas says.

I look at him.

"We can go boxing. Maybe it will make you feel better," Lucas says.

Before I could answer him, Ian arrived.

"First, he will have to eat something. He can't do anything in this state," says Ian putting the bag down.

"Yeah, let's do that," says Lucas.

"I got you your favourite wrap, Chicken Tikka," says Ian while giving me the wrap.

I slowly take it.

I knew I had no appetite to eat it, but I had to do it for them.

To show them that I was at least trying.

"I also got one for you and me, " Ian says, giving one to Lucas and taking one for himself.

"Thank you, man," says Lucas taking the wrap.

We all sat on the bench quietly.

No one dared to say anything.

I took a bite of the wrap, barely making it through my throat.

I put the wrap down next to me.

Just seeing it made me want to vomit.

"You know, when I met you, I thought you were rude and arrogant. I would never have thought there was someone else under the Nathan we all saw daily. You can't judge someone until you truly meet and get to know them," says Lucas smiling.

"Yeah, I had the same thoughts, but after getting to know him, I saw someone that would fight for his family and friends and teach what is right," says Ian.

"So, what I want to tell you, is that you shouldn't forget who you are. You shouldn't drown in sadness and forget to fight for Mia while she is out there fighting to come back to you and her family," says Lucas giving me a little nudge on my shoulder.

I know, but what if she...

"No buts! Okay, Nathan? You can't imagine something that didn't happen and let that affect your future. Right now, you are still here, and so is she," says Ian.

You are right.

I am sorry, guys.

All I could think about was, what if I had lost her just like dad?

But I forgot that she was still here.

She didn't leave me yet.

"You need to show her that you are still here, so she knows she isn't all alone. Show her you care and love her every day like it is your last moment, " Ian says, giving me a small smile.

"Shouldn't you be the first person to take your own advice?" says Lucas, smiling.

"Shut up, man!"

I smile at their silly behaviour.

Shall we go? I ask, standing up.

"Huh?" they say both.

Weren't we gonna go boxing? I ask them.

"Oh, yeah. Let's go," says Lucas.

They both stand up, and we all leave.

We take Lucas's car.

About forty minutes later, we arrived.

We go off after Lucas parked.

I could already smell the sweat of people working out.

This was my cup of tea.

Already feeling at home, we go into the place.

After having a match with Ian and Lucas, I sit down tiredly.

This was fun.

It got my adrenaline high, making me feel much better.

I gasp, my chest going up and down.

It was already 5 o'clock.

Just one more hour and I can go to Mia.

"How was that?" asks Lucas, out of breath.

That was good, of course, because I won. I say, teasing Lucas.

"Wow, already feeling better?" he says, pushing me away.

Ow, I say, pretending he hurt me.

Lucas rolls his eyes, and Ian and I burst into laughter.

"So so, who do we have here?"

I look up at the person and sigh in annoyance.

Wasn't hurting an innocent person enough? I say, standing up and wanting to walk away.

He grabs my shoulder.

"Ho ho, I didn't know you cared soo much about her," he says.

Ian and Lucas stand up.

"You wouldn't want to start a fight here," Lucas snarls.

"Well, why wouldn't I? Should I be afraid of you guys?" he says arrogantly.

Ian walks up to him, grabbing his collar.

"What if I tell the boss what you did last time? Uh? You think he will take it lightly, Elijah?" asks Ian.

Elijah pushes Ian away.

"What if I tell the boss that you are planning to leave?! You think he will like that?" he says, coming up to me.

That is none of your business!

It's better if you stay out of my business! I say, pushing him away.

His men come the moment they see me touching him.

Elijah puts his hand up, gesturing for them to stop.

"Leave him, boys. He will have enough trouble when the boss hears this," he says, smirking.

I walk away, and so do Ian and Lucas.

"You want to take a shower and then visit Mia?" asks Ian.

No, no, let's go to Mia now.

I have a terrible feeling about Elijah. I say, walking to Lucas's car.

"Huh, what do you mean? Do you think Elijah is planning something?" asks Ian.

I have a feeling that he won't let this slide soo easily.

Since he knows that the boss favours me above him, he will do something.

"I will tell everyone to keep an eye on him for the time being, so don't worry about him and just focus on Mia," says Lucas.

I smile at him.

We go in the car, and Lucas starts driving.

I ruffle my hand through my hair in frustration.

"Hey, don't worry about anything. Leave this to Lucas and me," says Ian giving me a reassuring smile.

The rest of the car ride was silent.

I wished with every feeling I had that Mia had already woken up.

After a while, we arrive, and I get off.

I run towards the reception.

Hello, In what room is Mia Mason? I ask the woman impatiently.

"Oh, hi, let me take a look for you," she says, smiling.

After a few seconds, she tells me the room, and I go without thanking her.

I could hear Ian thanking her for me and felt grateful.

I go in the lift without waiting for them.

I knew they would hate me for this, but I hoped they would understand.

I stopped on the third floor and searched for her room.

After barging into random rooms, I finally find her room.

I stand in front of it hesitatingly.

Fear crept into me again.

I could hear Ian and Lucas walking towards me.

"Why are you not going in?" asks Lucas.

"It will be okay. We are here for you," says Ian.

I take a deep breath and slowly open the door.

I walk to her.

I sit on the chair next to her and take her hand into mine.

A tear fell.

I didn't know what to say to her.

"Yo, Mia. I can't believe you made our boy cry here. Wake up, or else he might lose it," says Lucas.

Ian slaps him on the arm.

"Ow, what did I do wrong this time?" he asks.

"Could you just shut your mouth?" says Ian.

Out of nowhere, I could feel one of her fingers moving.

I look at her, shocked but happy at the same time.

She slowly opens her eyes.

I got closer to her.

Hey, lovely. How are you feeling? I ask her softly.

She smiles.

"You smell," she says.

I smile.

"Woah, she woke up! See! She woke up because of me!" says Lucas jumping like a child.

"Can't you stay silent? You always mess up good moments," asks Ian.

Mia looks at them.

"You are the one that disturbed my beauty sleep," she says to Lucas, and he stops.

"Oh, sorry. I heard it is not the good fortune to wake a girl up from her sleep."

"Well, whoever told you that is right," she says, smiling at him.

"Why don't we tell the nurse that you woke up," says Ian taking Lucas with him.

She looks at me.

"I don't know if I should say you look hot or miserable," Mia says, smiling.

Well, I know I am hot. I say, kissing her hand.

"Didn't you sleep?" she asks, this time worried.

I give her a reassuring smile.

Are you worrying about me? I ask her.

"I was hoping you would come back," she says with a shaky voice.

I am sorry I was late.

Please, forgive me. I say.

"Hey, it is not your fault. Don't blame yourself for what I decided," says Mia stroking my hair.

She takes my hand out of my hair.

"Eww, your sweat," she says with her sweetest face.

Sorry.

I just came back from boxing. I say, laughing.

"Well, you should take me next time. You never know when that sociopath of yours may attack me again," she says, smiling.

How did she know that is what worried me the most right now?
