Legends Reborn Online

“Some stories are known as myths or legends, while some are called history. But, what happens when those very same stories you thought were mere legends, were a part of our history all along?” The narrator started in a deep voice. “The world is in terrible danger, and the only ones with the powers to stop it are the characters from myths and legends, but they are long gone.” “Find the lost bloodlines of the progenitors and revive their species from extinction and you will have the power to accomplish what they can’t, in their absence.” The video then faded to a black screen before showing the words, “Legends Reborn Online” in big gold letters. The narrator then continued, “Find the lost bloodlines and save the world. Legends Reborn Online launches on June 1st, 2073 at 12 am.” This trailer made Enzo Knight and his friend Ivan extremely excited. They both love playing video games, so getting the new DIVR headgear to play Legends Reborn Online wasn’t even a question. —————————— Thank you to anyone who decides to support the novel.

Weapon Training

"Alright kid, you know where to find me. Just come to my stall once you have a few silvers and I'll give you a nice weapon or two." William said, interrupting his thoughts.

"Thank you. I am Atlas by the way."

"It was nice meeting you Atlas. You can call me Will."

Enzo nodded and turned back around to face the training dummies as Will left.

"That's right!"

He then remembered what Rhea said about the menus. There were many other menus he could open with his thoughts.

'Inventory.'

A screen then popped up with his inventory and another one showed his coin balance.

He only had 5 bronze coins to start off, but Enzo wasn't aware of how valuable those are.

The main thing he saw was the different starter weapons.

There were 4 weapons in his inventory already. There was a bow and arrows, a sword, and 2 daggers.

He took them all out and looked at them.

A screen popped up with the details of each one.

[Monster Slayer's Daggers (Trash)]

[Description: A set of starter daggers for Monster Slayers]

[Monster Slayer's Bow (Trash)]

[Description: A starter bow for Monster Slayers]

[Monster Slayer's Sword (Trash)]

[Description: A starter sword for Monster Slayers]

Enzo nodded his head before putting the weapons back in his inventory. He would strap them on once he was ready to go hunting, but for now he would just use the training weapons that were scattered around the field.

Enzo walked towards a line of straw training dummies, and picked up a wooden sword from a nearby rack.

There was no one else in the large training area at the moment, so he had it all to himself.

Enzo stood in front of the straw dummy and got into what he assumed would be a good sword stance.

[New Quest: Basic Sword Training]

[Perform 50 perfect sword slashes in each direction. From left to right, right to left, top left to bottom right, and top right to bottom left.]

[Rewards: +10 Exp +1 stat point]

"A stat point?" Enzo mumbled in surprise.

Players were given 2 stat points after every level up, so Enzo would basically receive half of a level up just from this quest.

He immediately began practicing his sword slashes.

It took almost 20 tries before he was able to get it right, and the only reason he knew it was right is because another message popped up.

[1/50]

Enzo continued slashing and tried to focus on what he was doing differently when the quest told him he completed a perfect strike.

Only 1 out of every 10 or so strikes was perfect for the first 30 strikes.

That was until Enzo figured out what a perfect strike consisted of.

"It's all in the edge alignment…" He mumbled.

Every time he got another perfect strike, it was when the edge of the blade was perfectly aligned in the direction he was slashing.

After this realization he quickly completed the slashing target for the 4 directions given.

It took almost 2 hours, so he was very tired afterwards but he felt very accomplished as well.

[You have completed the quest: Basic Sword Training!]

[+10 exp]

[+1 stat point]

Enzo smiled in satisfaction before sitting down on the grass and lying on his back to rest for a bit.

After another 20 minutes, Enzo got up and decided to try archery next.

He abstained from using his stat point now because he needed to think carefully about what he was going to use it on.

Enzo walked over to the area filled with targets, and grabbed a bow and a few arrows from the nearby rack.

He walked towards the target until he was 20 feet away and then readied his bow.

Just as he predicted, he got another quest from the system.

[New Quest: Basic Archery Training]

[Successfully hit the target 100 times with an arrow.]

[Rewards: +10 Exp +1 stat point]

"Only the target?" Enzo mumbled.

He thought the quest would tell him to hit the bullseye, but it only told him to hit the actual target.

He soon found out why…

"Fuck! This is too hard!" Enzo screamed.

After an hour of trying to shoot the target, Enzo didn't land a single hit.

There were many times where he got close, but he never hit it.

"Need some help?"

He quickly turned around.

Standing in front of him was a short girl who looked to be about 5'2. She had long strawberry red hair and green eyes.

"Hi, I'm Pepper. I practice archery in real life if you would like some help." She offered.

Enzo looked up at her ID as she spoke.

[Title(s): N/A]

[Name: Pepper]

[Level: 1]

"Sure I would love some help. My name is Atlas by the way."

Enzo reached out his hand and she shook it politely.

Pepper then immediately started teaching Enzo, "Okay, the first thing you need to fix is your stance. Your shoulders shouldn't be facing the target. Make your body perpendicular to the target and spread your feet shoulder width apart."

Enzo did as he was told.

"Good. Now, relax your left arm more. Your bow arm shouldn't be so stiff."

Enzo once again followed her instructions.

"Good, now knock an arrow, breath in, and as you breathe out let the arrow fly."

Whoosh!

The arrow made a sound as it cut through the wind.

Twang!

[1/100]

"Wow!" Enzo shouted in joy.

The arrow landed right on the edge of the target.

He turned to pepper and with a big smile on his face said, "Thank you very much, is there anything I could do for you in return?"

"That's okay I wasn't looking for anything in return."

"No really, I insist. I'm not the type of person to let debts go unpaid. If there's anything I can help with please don't hold back."

"Hmmm."

Pepper didn't answer for a while as she thought of something he could do in return for her.

She understood that he would feel bad if she didn't let him repay his debt.
