12. An Opportunity

"Hello sir , What can I get for you? "

Just as Samuel entered the restaurant a gentle old sound spoke to him. It was the shopkeeper of the establishment with a gentle old smile in his face.

"Curry Rice and pickles with some side vegetables "

"It'll be ready in a while please take a seat "

Samuel took a seat while waiting for his food when another voice came from his back.

"Sir a bowl of cold noodles for me please "

And the person came and sat right beside Samuel. While looking at him the shopkeeper gave a deep smile while he replied.

"In a minute Alex take a seat"

'He must be a regular' Samuel thought while looking at Alex and he couldn't help but be Surprised.

'Isn't this the examiner of the academy' Samuel thought. While noticing Samuel's Surprised expression Alex replied

"Do you Know me Kid?"

"Ah!! Yes, we met a week ago during the examination." Samuel replied.

" Ah ! I see, call me Alex you must be one of the students who were failed by Count Kyle "

While hearing this remark Samuel couldn't hide his disappointed look on his face while giving a nod.

"Don't be sad kid the seats were already decided by Count Kyle even before the examination began."

Listening to Alex, Samuel gave a Surprised look as if it was asking him, what does he mean ?.

"That bastard was already bribed by those nobles and rich merchants to let their children's in even if they don't know how to hold a sword"

"Huh ! How can the Academy allow such a thing to happen?. What about the nobles and royal's whose children's are actually talented ?.

Samuel Knew it would be pointless to talk about him and other Commoners as they hold no power to go against a Count of this Kingdom. But there are quite a few talented kids from the noble households with all the resources they have how could he get away from it?.

"That bastard is extremely sly and careful and makes sure to take a note about all the talented kid's from notable families and judges them fairly to avoid any future troubles."

"The one's who are actually suffering are the people like you and Commoners who don't have any solid backing "

"What about the academy I am sure they won't let something like this go." Samuel asked

Alex scoffed while answering that

"Huh ! Academy how can they do anything when one the elder council is involved in this incident too."

"What ? One of the Elder's of the Academy. Why ?

Who ?, When ? "

Hundred's of questions were surrounding Samuel's mind. Why would an elder do something so immoral. he couldn't possibly be someone who lacks money ?

Looking at Samuel's peering gaze Alex shook his head and replied

"It's none Other than Kyle's father Count Vincent Murdoch a Cardinal Rank Swordsman and one of the head instructor of the Academy."

Hearing Alex's reply Samuel couldn't hide his disgust as he replied

"Why would a Cardinal Rank Swordsman need to do something like this ?"

Alex shook his head as he replied

"It was never about the money "

"Huh!!! What does that mean ?"

"That Count is a blood supremist with a huge inferiority Complex due to certain someone. He used this kind of petty tricks to separate and keep a distinction between nobles and Commoners "

Samuel gave a nod as if he completely understood the situation. As the era passed and knowledge of magic and swordsmanship is passed throughout the continent and it's not just exclusive to Nobles and people of high birth class talented people are rising throughout the Continent as the line between the Commoners and Nobles began to blur and rather than people with noble blood the talened one's are sorted out for .

But Samuel suddenly had a confused thoughts 'As a Cardinal Rank Swordsman Count could be considered a genius to who could he possibly have felt such inferiority to resolve to such underhand method's' Samuel shook his head as he thought 'forget it it's none of my business.'

"Thank you Sir You helped me a lot. For the past one week I had been troubled and thought all the efforts I put on my swordsmanship was a waste but because of you I found out it was something that was already out my hands now I can see a clear path ahead of me."

"Huh!, Aren't you angry about what happened to you ?"

Hearing Alex's remark Samuel gave a wry smile as he said

"Of course I am angry and I feel wronged but there's nothing I can do about it now can I ?.

So I am not gonna waste my precious time which I can use to practice my swordsmanship on thinking about stuff that are out of my hands"

"Ahh!! Food's here let's eat I am hungry "

Looking at this kid gobbling his food as if nothing happened Alex had a perplexed look on his face.

'This brat is mature. A bit too mature for his age '

After finishing his meal Samuel paid his tab and started heading out towards his Inn when a sharp voice stopped called him from behind.

"Wait ! I have something to tell you "

"Sir Alex is there something I can help you with ?"

"Actually if you're looking for an instructor I have someone in my mind. only if you're willing."
