14 Chapter 14 - Water Upgrade

Chapter 14 – Water Upgrade

"Take your time and don't rush this. I love my Silfra a lot and I don't want you to mess up. Also, I hope you will not use the method mentioned in that book. Can you find a method to upgrade Silfra to another species?" Bertha spoke.

"Silver Claw Frog is too crude and savage for my Silfra. She is a girl and having that long and menacing claw will not make her beautiful," Bertha added.

"…" Glen did not know how to reply to that. He had many methods but he did not know what species it would be after the upgrade. He could evade using the Silver Claw Frog but that did not mean that the unknown species would be beautiful.

"You cannot do that?" Bertha asked.

"I am a newbie and I am not even an official Upgrade Specialist. I may be able to deduce a method but as for the species it will become, I am not sure about that," Glen replied apologetically.

"Then is it not possible to let say, add a certain color eye, wings, or something like that?" Bertha asked.

"I don't know about that but I will try. You should know that my knowledge is only from the books I read. Even if I want to do any deep research on materials, I cannot do that because I don't have the proper equipment," Glen replied.

"Hmm… Then, just do what is possible. I thought I could get my Silfra to look more beautiful with increased power," Bertha sighed.

"I will do my best to make her not look ugly," Glen added. After all of that was done, Glen decided to try completing the mission to help Bubbly ranked up to Rank 2.

He already had an idea on how to do that and that was by upgrading the Colorless Stage Water to better quality water. He already knew that upgrading anything in the game was possible as long as he had enough data.

The data he needed to make better water was available to him for a while but he did not try it because there was no necessity for that.

Now that he needed to complete the mission, he decided to get better water for Bubbly. He promised Bubbly before too about it and he finally decided to fulfill it.

Species – Water

Stage – Colorless

Rank – None

This was the basic information about the Colorless stage Water when appraised with Beginner Appraisal skill. Below it were the methods to upgrade the material.

Upgrade Method

Material – Rank 1 Bubble Beast Core

Procedure – Soak the core inside the water

Glen decided to choose this method because the material was the easiest to collect as the Bubble beast was super common in the prairie. Although it was hard to get the beast core to drop, with many of them available in the wild, it would be easy to gain them.

"Hmm, Bubble beast is most commonly found near a water source. I need to head to the nearby river to farm the core," Glen went downstairs and looked at the map Bertha had pasted on the wall.

It was the map for Maru Prairie. It was also the location of the other eight villages but that was not Glen's aim. He could hunt the Bubble beast at the village's lake and the river that was connected to the lake but he decided to go further away.

He wanted Bubbly to gain more experience in fighting and if they hunt the Bubble beast in the village, they would not be able to fight other beasts. In the wild, they would encounter many types of beasts and thus, they would gain a better experience.

With Bubbly's strengthened skills, Glen gained more confidence in fighting other species of beasts. He had been too careful earlier and he decided to broaden his horizon by fighting a stronger-looking monster.

This would increase his knowledge and data in Data Saver. He also decided to camp in the wild for a few nights to collect more materials for money.

Thus, after preparing enough supply to camp in the wild for a few days, Glen departed away from the village. He only prepared some cooked food and nothing else. He did not need to worry about the tent and similar stuff because he had a Private Room.

Glen traveled to a river further away from the village. Along the way, he would evade any beast he felt like too strong for Bubbly and after a few hours of walking, he arrived at the river.

He smiled widely when he saw the many Bubble beasts floated leisurely around. "I am sorry to all of you. I do this to help your fellow family," Glen mumbled and started hunting the Bubble beast with his dagger.

He did not need Bubbly's help because the Bubble beast was too weak that even Glen who was weak could easily handle. He did not want Bubbly to waste his energy for an easy battle like this.

Bubbly decided to wait at the side and guard Glen. If a strong beast appeared, Bubbly would inform Glen about it.

A few minutes later, Glen stopped as he had hunted almost 100 Bubble beast and collected almost 20 Bubble beast's cores.

The Bubble beast would drop only two things and they were a bubble or its core. The bubble had an unknown purpose because no one could keep it from popping and the core could fetch for quite a good price since it was a beast core that had many uses.

From the books he reads, the core could be used in brewing potions and medicine. It was also widely used in many methods to upgrade a beast.

Furthermore, with the technical setup in the game, the core could also be used as a power source to power up the electronic device in the game. The television and many electrical appliances at the inn used beast cores to operate.

Glen decided to try upgrading the water. He took out a big basin and a scoop he bought in the village. He opened the private room and put the big basin inside and then, he started scooping the river water into the basin.

Since there was no mention of how much water he needed for one beast core, he just filled in the basin and used only one Bubble beast's core. After he was done with it, he left it inside the private room and he prepared to hunt some real beast.

He looked around and found a horned rabbit hopping nearby. "That will be our target today, Bubbly," Glen smiled.

"Bu bu!" Bubbly was excited.
