Chapter 4: Life vs. Death

Spring didn't know how to feel or what to do. It was too hard to take in the information she had just heard. She didn't know if she could tell autumn because she had just corrected her when she was about to pick a fight with Jacob.

All she had done was go upstairs into the room Autumn and Jacob was when to talk things over on the argument. She acted like she didn't hear anything, like everything that Streak had just said was not heard.

When she came into the room Autumn was sitting in a chair and Jacob was talking to her.

"Sorry I took so long." She said with a fake smile.

"Its okay. You didn't miss anything." Jacob said friendly.

"Okay good. So we can talk now." Spring said looking at Autumn.

Autumn didn't say anything. Her face expression had looked like she was embarrassed about what had happened.

"Autumn we have to talk about it, and honestly you really have no choice." Spring said feeling the confidence again.

"Okay, fine. Let's talk. Ask me question and I'll try and answer, like an interrogation." Autumn said with a serious tone.

"Oh shut up! You have done nothing but complain Autumn and I'm sick of it!" Jacob yelled while balling his fist.

Spring held his hand "Please. Calm down. Just wait outside the room. I'll talk to her. Okay?" She asked him.

"Okay, fine." Jacob said stomping out of the room.

Spring sat down slowly. "Now, without yelling, let's talk." She said seriously.

"Great, pep talk from my own sister." Autumn said rolling her eyes.

"Your not going to break me like you did with Jacob. I know what your doing and it's not going to work on me." Spring said relaxing in the chair.

"I'm not doing anything." Autumn said seriously.

"Yeah sure." Spring said looking at her.

"Anyways, you need to get your act together, because clearly screaming and yelling at people isn't getting you nowhere but in that chair talking to me." She said gaining more confidence with every word that came out of her mouth.

"Congrats, you want me to give you a, best sister of the year award for giving me pep talks." Autumn said with more seriousness in her voice.

Spring stood up and couldn't take it anymore. Autumn's sassiness what to much to not do something more, so she slapped her.

There was only Autumn and herself in the room, and the slap made a loud noise in a second. It had felt like all time stopped. Autumn had no idea she was going to slap her.

"Wh...what did you do that for??" Autumn said shocked.

Spring slowly sat back down "Oh I'm sorry I thought that would fix whatever was going on with your brain. I mean if it didn't I'll be happy to do it again" She said leaning back in her chair.

"No no no...please no." Autumn said rubbing her face.

Spring smiled "Good, Now we're getting somewhere."

"What do you want to know?" Autumn asked.

"I want to know what happened to you. Why your being like...this now." She said in a serious tone.

"Ok fine. I'll say, I'm worried if I don't, I'll get two slaps in one day." Autumn said rolling her eyes.

"Maybe. Now tell me." Spring said impatiently.

"Okay okay. So...it all started when I arrived to New Jersey. I was hurt because of the fact that I had to leave everything I loved behind. I wanted to cry but I knew if I did my powers would be uncontrollable. So I held it in." She said calmly.

"I understand that. You didn't want to hurt anyone." Spring said, thinking while Autumn told her story.

"Yes. I was trying to find a place to live and ended up at this Motel. I met Streak when she was getting attacked by a caretaker a few months in." She said.

"Str....Streak..." Spring said replaying in she mind what Streak had said about the car crash.

Spring was still taking in the information that Streak was the person that had started the car crash. She didn't know if she was going to tell Autumn. She didn't have enough confidence to do it.

"Spring? Are you okay?" Autumn said breaking Spring out of her flashback.

"Oh...yes. I'm fine. Let's get back to what you were staying." She said.

"Well, Like I said before, I had met Streak by saving her life from a caretaker. But while saving her I couldn't save myself and so the caretaker captured me. There were many kids there. But the one person I had became friends with was Jacob. He was in a bad place at the time and I used all my positivity to brighten his world. But in the processes I darkened myself. I held everything in. I guess I had blamed it all on Jacob though. When I really should have blamed myself." Autumn said in a sad tone.

"It's okay. I understand, and so will Jacob if you give him a chance too." Spring sad softly.

Jacob rushed into the room breathing heavily. "Spr...Spring...I just went downstairs to answer a call that was for you. Your mother and father Are in the hospital and they are awake." He said trying to control his breathing.

Spring was shocked "Oh my gosh! I need to go see them!"

Autumn stood up "I'll go with you Spring"

Spring nodded her head and smiled.

After waiting, Spring and Autumn were finally able to see her parents. They walked into room 21 and their they were, side by side laying in hospital beds.

"Mom...Dad." Spring said while waiting to her mothers bed side.

Her mother opened her eyes. "Yes my love. My dare scarlet."

Spring smiled. "I go by Spring now Mom."

Her mother smiled at her and nodded. She slowly turned her had to look a Autumn. "I'm getting this is your sister. She looks beautiful. I'm glad you found her honey."

"Mom, I'm just glad I'm going to have you back into my life again. I've been so lost without you." Spring said with a tear going down her cheek.

Her mother turned her head to look at Spring. "Honey, me and your father are not going to make it. I'm sorry."

Spring started totear up. "Mom don't say that!"

"But its the truth. I need to give you something before the time is almost up." Her mother said pulling out a green necklace.

Autumn was shocked "that looks exactly like mine."

Springs mother nodded "Yes. this is your green necklace Spring. You need to wear it to unlock your full power and your memories of who you really are. Than you'll become your true self."

Spring started to cry "Mom I love you, I don't want you to go."

"I know honey, but no one can stop death." She said.

As her mother says her last words, the machine stops beeping and her mothers eyes closes. Spring takes the necklace, but in the processes, cries over her loss.

Spring wipes her tears "Where the hell in Streak?" She asked in anger.

"She's at the motel, why?" Autumn asked with a concerned face.

"Because I need to give her a peace of what my fist taste like." Spring said in a serious tone.
