Chapter 31

As the conversation went on they all came to the conclusion that it was safest for Jade to remove himself from the city as quickly as possible. Against all protest that Jade gave against Noel coming along with them he eventually agreed to allowing him to tag along with them both. It was a mixture of his own desire to keep the man close to himself as well as the fact that he felt more comfortable keeping Noel where he could ensure Logan pulled no under handed methods to have the barkeep killed for having a jealous fit of rage when he found out he was going on the run.

Capricorn and Noel were standing outside the building waiting for Jade. He had sent them both on ahead of himself in order to return to his apartment for something he said he could not leave behind. Neither one of them were sure what he was going back for but they knew there would be no room to protest against the man so they simply waited for him in silence. A strange look of curiosity was exchanged between them as they both realized neither of them had the slightest clue what was so important to Jade to ensure he did not leave it behind.

"I'm guessing you have no clue what was so important we had to wait for him outside?" Capricorn looked around the area for any signs that others might catch on to them.

"Not that I can think of.." Noel muttered out his response as he felt frustrated that Capricorn would assume he would have any idea.

Suddenly a crashing sound came from above as they both glanced up to see what it was they saw the glass of Jade's apartment shattering on the balcony. His figure was seen standing on the balcony as he slowly stepped forward with his single wing stretched out. Dropping from the balcony his body came gliding downward with his single wing guiding his figure until he landed on his feet in the street.

Noel and Capricorn came running over to Jade in a hurry to make sure he had what he went back to his apartment for. The second they both saw him though Noel's face blushed slightly as he face palmed himself. Capricorn had to hold himself back from laughing out loud at the sight. It was the last thing he had expected to see Jade landing with.

Perched on top of Jade's shoulder with it's tail wrapped tightly around Jade's neck was a small calico cat. It's long black hair was blowing in the breeze almost hiding the small animal from view other than it's small face that was nuzzled up against his chin. It's eyes pinned on the surroundings as though it was simply riding along for the view. The cat acted as though the glide from the balcony had not startled it in the slightest. A soft sound of purring could be heard clear as day as it's little paws clung to it's master shoulder.

"Alright. Let's go." Jade blurted out to break the silence.

His figure turning to walk down the street his group was one that quickly had attention drawn to it. A tall man in black with one single black wing walking down the street with a calico cat perched on his shoulder was something that was hard to not look at. Following him was the lively barkeep, Noel, who was the sort that girls would naturally fawn over for being cute in their eyes. Beside Noel stood Capricorn who's looks would draw the attention from any gender and even if his looks didn't his golden hair was naturally illuminated beautifully in the moonlight and his single bandaged eye would leave one wondering. They were a group that was hard to be over looked.

The little calico cat purred away happily as it crawled from one shoulder to the other in order to glance back at Noel and Capricorn. It's eyes felt as though it was sizing up the two new companions in it's master's life. Noel reached out his hand towards the calico in order to pet it but the little cat's paw reached out and lightly landed on his hand as if to stop him. A soft meow escaping from it's mouth as if Noel was being scolded.

"We should pick up pace. If we keep moving this slow it'll take all night to get out of the city." Jade blurted out as he felt frustrated at the slow pace they were taking for Noel to keep up.

Turning around towards Noel he knelt his body downward. Wrapping his arms around Noel's back and under his legs his hoisted him up into his arms wedding bride style causing the man's face to blush in embarrassment. Capricorn made no comment on the sight in front of him but cleared his throat as if he felt awkward.

"What are you-?" Noel started to protest but was cut off.

"Hold on tight you two." Jade stated as his wing beat against the air boosting his speed as he ran throughout the city with Capricorn following at his heals. He could hear the beastly roar of a leopard coming from Capricorn's throat as he fought to keep pace.

Even though Noel felt embarrassed by the situation he was in his arms still wrapped around Jade's neck tightly to hold himself in place so that he did not get dropped. His eyes could not keep up with the pace they were going because he was not some high level demi human like the both of them. The wind was strong and he could see the small calico cat holding onto Jade's neck and hair with all it's strength.

Sliding one of hands over slightly Noel helped the small cat hold onto it's balance. The two of them lightly relaxed their foreheads against each other as their faces were placed against Jade's warm neck. Noel and the calico both calmed their racing hearts with the sound of Jade's beating heart. A soft touch of one of the calico's paws tapped onto Noel's cheek as though the small animal was trying to show it's appreciation and acceptance.
