Chapter 29

A loud crashing noise broke Noel out of his sleep. Jolting awake from his slumber he sat upright on his bean bag chair where he had passed out moments go after talking to Jade in his bedroom. The night was still dark and he could hear the sounds of footsteps walking into his house from the balcony where the sliding glass door had become shattered so suddenly. There was a figure standing in the shadows who's golden hair reflected in the moonlight.

"Who the hell?!" Noel felt startled and shouted the question out of reflex.

"I work with Jade! Don't freak out on me!" Capricorn quickly threw out his connection to Jade in order to calm the man down before he could begin to panic more then he felt it was necessary. The barkeep treated Jade well so he had no intent on harming him unless situation required him to do so.

"That doesn't explain why you broke in and my balcony door is now destroyed.." Noel's face twitched as he wondered if all hired killers in the city were so reckless like these two. The thought of a band of reckless killers running around the city doing such antics made his head hurt.

"I was in a rush," Capricorn glanced behind him to check if Silvester was still coming. He could sense the man off in the distance but it seemed as though he had stopped in his tracks and was awaiting him outside. "Where is Jade?"

"He's sleeping on my bed." Noel sighed and pointed to his bedroom. The only thing on his mind at the moment being that he hoped the man would not break his bedroom door as well. After a moment of thought he quickly darted in front of Capricorn in order to open the door himself so that he would not break it down for sure.

"Uh.. Thanks." Capricorn said as he saw Noel open the door for him to the bedroom. He was not certain if the man was being polite or simply thought he was going to destroy the entire apartment.

"Right." Noel simply responded as they both entered the bedroom with Capricorn entering first.

Noel was not sure what the man wanted but since it was his apartment he figured it was best that he followed the man inside. A part of him did not know whether or not to trust the man alone with Jade. If it turned out the man was an assassin after Jade and he let him in the room he did not want to experience such a situation. He felt it was best that he accompanied him in case something was off with Capricorn that he did not know about.

"Does he normally sleep this heavily?" Capricorn felt stunned that Jade had not budged in the slightest even though he had literally broke his way into Noel's apartment by force. If he had been a real killer after his life he would surely lose his life easily.

"How would I-" Noel's face flushed red at the thought that Capricorn would expect him to know such a thing about Jade. He had not even known the man's real name til last night because he would refuse to tell him anything about himself every time he tried to communicate with him.

"Forget it, that's not important right now. Logan and Silvester are looking into his identity and have figured out I'm not really loyal to that ruthless man. I'll be staying with you two for the time being. When he wakes up I'll figure out the plan from there.. For now I'll stand guard." Capricorn turned and left the room with Noel following him from behind in a fit of confusion.

Noel glanced back at the bedroom where Jade was sleeping peacefully. The thought that Jade could be someone of standing that would cause others to hunt him down for his very life made him wonder more about who he was and where he was from. If it was his status that would make others want him dead it would be understandable to a point that he would try to hide who he was from others. Though it still caused his chest to ache that Jade did not consider him someone he could confide in more.

Capricorn could see the look of confusion and hurt on the man's face. He was not slow to catch on to the situation and could not help but exhale deeply as he tried to think of a way to calm the man down a bit. His gaze swept over to where Noel was looking to see that he was staring at Jade's sleeping figure.

"I don't know why exactly he chose this city. I don't know why he chose to do the job he does either.. but even if he can't realize it himself it's obvious that he cares for you." Capricorn spoke as calmly as he could. He could not let the man become weak minded at such a time as Jade's life being at risk.

"What are you talking about he wont even tell me anything." Noel forced a smile on his face as if to hide the pain in his chest.

"The fact that he can sleep so soundly here is proof that he feels comfortable with you but in turn that puts his life at risk itself with Logan's personality." Capricorn placed his hand on Noel's shoulder in attempt to calm him down as he spoke.

Noel's eyes never left Jade's sleeping figure as he took in the words that were spoken. He could feel in his heart that there was more to Jade than he'd show to others and did not need Capricorn to tell him such things. It was just that his heart could not help but break at the idea that he was considered a danger to Jade's life for something as simple as a good night's sleep that Jade was getting by being in his apartment.

"You're saying I put him at risk?" Noel asked.

"In a way.. Yes," Capricorn responded bluntly with his opinion. "but fear doesn't stop death.. it stops life. As long as he's content with his choices I will follow him regardless of the risk. If one does not take risks in life then can you really consider yourself living? Life's evolution, is it not all due to risks that people took? Without risks nobody would ever get anywhere in life."
