Chapter 24

Noel banged his head against the wall of the bar outside in the alleyway repeatedly a few times. He had been at work all night and yet he could not find a way to clear his mind. The time he had been apart from Jade he could not help but wonder what was going on with him. A million questions could be found in the back of his mind as he tried to figure out what everything meant that day he spent with Jade. If there was one thing he felt sure of it was that there was more behind the kiss that Jade had gave him but when it came to finding Logan at Jade's apart and seeing him kiss Jade in front of him made his chest ache.

"What's wrong with you, Noel?" He asked himself as he sighed heavily. His head was resting against the wall while he held himself up against it with both hands. The more he allowed himself to think about anything at all the more his mind would become flooded with the memories of that day.

If he allowed himself to think more clearly about it he could easily guess what was wrong with himself. It was not that Noel did not realize his own feelings for Jade but that he was surprised that he could feel anything for such a person as Jade. A slight headache started to take hold of him as he realized he was going to have to admit to himself that he was falling for the man.

"How.. Could I possibly.. For him of all people.." Noel grit his teeth tightly. He barely knew anything about the man who hid everything about himself from the world. If he had to think of something he tried to consider that it could be simply because he gave off such a mysterious vibe about himself but he knew that was not true. There was no way he could measure his feelings down to any specific factor when it came to his heart.

"No.. It was from the start.." He thought out loud as he could easily recall from day one when he met Jade that his heart had instantly sent waves of emotion to him upon his first glance. Jade had always been beautiful in his eyes even if he was a dangerous man and hard to approach. There was no telling how long it would be before Jade would speak to him again and it made him consider for a moment that maybe Jade was going to cut him from his life completely without ever clearing things between them.

He turned his body around and leaned his back against the wall. With a slight scrapping noise as his clothes dragged against the wall he slid down until he was sitting flat on the ground with his back against the wall. His blue eyes were cast with a confused and broken expression as he gazed up at the sky above the city. Lights from the buildings were too bright to see the stars and yet in his mind he could feel himself being lost in the vast emptiness of the sky above as he imagined he could see them.

"I wonder what he's doing now.." Noel day dreamed about Jade's figure in his mind. He could still feel the warmth of the kiss from that day on his lips as he slowly slid his thumb against his mouth. The kiss that day had felt so warm and sweet. To this moment he could still feel the tenderness behind that voice had whispered into his ear with before leaving him behind in a daze.

"Didn't anyone ever teach him not to leave someone hanging like this?" He asked out loud with a heavy heart. Jade would never become aware of it but in the days they had been separated Noel's heart had been filled with hope that Jade would try to come after him. Clearing up the misunderstanding was all that Noel hoped Jade would try to do because he missed Jade's presence in his life. In the time that they had known each other there had been countless times that Jade would vanish for days before they would speak again but never had they parted on such rough terms before.

They were not a couple and Noel understood that better then anyone. When the day came that they did meet again he wondered how he would react to seeing him. It was not clear to himself if the would be able to speak to Jade about what happened calmly or not. If he thought about it more he wondered if he would snap and yell at him without being able to control himself. There was so many things he wanted to yell at him for when it came to how they parted ways. Whether it had to do with how he left him behind after promising him the day together or if it was how he allowed Logan to kiss him so easily in front of him there were a good number of things he wanted to explode about.

"No, just come back safe." He stated out calmly as he considered it all closely. When it came down to it the only real thing that mattered to him was that given what Jade did for a living he only wished for him to remain safe until they could meet again. He did not want to have any regrets between them because he knew that Jade's work could easily get him killed any time he went out to take care of another. It was made clear when he was injured badly by the other demi human in white and lost a wing.

His eyes closed shut as he knew he'd have to suppress his feelings for Jade. If he had to make a guess he could only assume his feelings for Jade would be seen as a burden. The man did not like attachments and if he found out Noel held such feelings for him he'd probably try to run or at the least kill him for being a burden. It was not in Jade's character to so easily accept something like that from someone else from what he could see.
