Chapter 25

"Jade, he's coming your way!" Capricorn shouted as he watched their target turn and run into the direction Jade was in.

Capricorn had short, but fluffy, golden hair that reflected the moonlight beautifully. There were bandages that covered his right eye and yet the reason behind the bandages were unknown to Jade. His single blue eye that was visible and deep enough to draw a person into it. Black was the main color of his clothing but his over shirt was a milky white. A couple of golden necklaces hung from around his neck with a red ruby on one of them that stood out easily.

Jade had no interest in responding to the man's shout. He was not one to usually work with others but he had been forced into this partnership because of Logan. Ever since he had started working again Capricorn was there with him on every mission to ensure that things went well. The man did not seem bad but it was still different in a way that made him uncomfortable. It was hard for him to truly focus with another around him all the time when on the job.

As the target darted into his direction Jade rushed to get ahead of him. The man came to a stop and looked away in a hurry to find a way to escape as Jade stood before him and walked slowly into his direction. Fear was all over the man's face as he flustered out some nonsense to himself. Jade could see the man's sanity leaving him as his desire to live was surfacing.

"Are you playing with the target? Why are you so slow?" Capricorn laughed slightly while running up from behind the target. They had the man corned from both sides.

"Shut up." Jade glared at Capricorn with a mix of hate and annoyance on his face that only enticed Capricorn to chuckle to himself slightly in amusement. If Jade wanted to hear a bunch of useless words he felt he would go find the barkeep that always seemed to be talking when he was around.

"You're not cute at all." Capricorn smirked with a slight sigh. "I got this-"

Before his own words could leave his mouth Capricorn moved in on the target. As his body launched forward there was a streak of golden light left behind him that lasted for a few seconds. His eyes were pinned on the target. Like a leopard pouncing on his prey he was on the target quicker then Jade could respond.

BAM!

The target's body was slammed into the ground with a loud noise. Bones all over his body shattered upon the harsh impact as Capricorn's brute force slammed him downward. There was a soft rumbling sound coming from Capricorn's throat. As he opened his mouth while glaring down at the body of the target that was pinned below him his teeth had become sharp and pointed like a feline. His eyes had slits to them that improved his vision in that moment that quickly faded back to normal.

"Weakling." Capricorn stated at the target upon realizing that the impact alone that ended it's life. Mortal lives were so fragile in his opinion that it seemed rather fleeting.

"He wasn't weak you're just way too damn brutal." Jade sighed heavily at the remark. He had once been human so he knew that Capricorn was over powering to a mortal life just as he was. It was not that he considered himself to be any closer to a mortal than Capricorn because he was aware that even himself was much different.

"Either way I'd consider this task complete." Capricorn ignored the remark about him being brutal and just stood back up straight. He was not interested in pretending to be weaker just because he was helping Jade hunt targets down for Logan. "I'll go and contact Logan, you can head on back for today."

"I wasn't going to ask you for permission so don't bother giving it." Jade scoffed and turned to walk off. He could hear the light chuckling from behind but had no interest in saying a word about being laughed at. The only thing he wanted was to head home for some sleep because his thoughts were too scrambled.

The walk was not a short one and took him a few hours before he made it back to the area he lived in. While walking down the street he could feel his mind beginning to blur and his head ached. His hand naturally found it's way to his head as he tried to calm himself down. It was his natural instincts to hunt more that was trying to take him over again. Wobbling slightly as he tried to walk he found himself bracing his arm against a building and standing there. Breathing heavily he tried to think of how to calm himself down his entire body quivered.

"Jade?" A low voice called out from somewhere behind him but his mind was too much of a mess to take in who it was. At the moment he could not help but hate how weak he must look in front of others bracing himself against a wall. His eyes slit themselves like a feline as he could sense a hand closing in on him from behind. All of his warning bells went off and he turned quickly to grab the wrist that hand belonged to; Noel.

"Barkeep?" Jade asked between broken huffs amidst his blurred vision as he swallowed hard. As much as his heart desired to flee he could not help the demonic part of himself that wanted to do so many other things in that moment. His entire body was screaming at him to act on instinct instead of with his head.

The look on Noel's face while Jade stood there holding his wrist firmly in his grasp was completely unreadable for Jade. He could not understand if the man was angry with him or happy to see him. It was completely a puzzle to Jade on what the man wanted from him.

Right.. It's been.. a while.. since I've seen him.. without Logan.. Jade thought to himself amidst the fog in his mind. His eyes slowly closing as he collapsed onto the sidewalk. The last thing he remembered seeing as his consciousness faded was that pair of warm, worried, blue eyes gazing at him that Jade in that moment felt he would not mind drowning in.
