April 16th 2xxx – Izumi PoV
I hummed softly as I looked at my phone, it was really early, but I had been forced to complete some chores on my mother's behalf, not that I was really bothered by the hour, I had gotten used to getting up with the sunrise for years, but unpaid work as part of the family bakery was another matter.
Suppressing a snort I continued browsing the net, I had several not so urgent messages that I needed to answer but they could wait until later so I immediately went to my favourite forum pages, I had already completed my deliveries so I had some time to burn before I had to head back home, despite quickly diving into my phone I was still completely attentive to what was going on around me, a side effect of having various kinds of unorthodox views so I wasn't surprised when someone stopped in front of me and coughed lightly.
I sighed lightly in tiredness as I looked up, in front of me was a teenage girl about my age, certainly foreign, American if I guessed correctly, her brown hair was long and tied in a braid, too long, it reached mid-thigh, she had brown eyes that were covered by glasses, she was thin, a little wiry and tall, taller than me, not by much but definitely by a few centimeters, I was around 169cm, she beat me with her 179 if I calculated correctly. She was dressed in baggy clothes and slightly sweaty, as if she had just worked out, I also noticed that she tried to get my attention from a respectable distance, I could reach out her hand and I still wouldn't reach it, I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.
"Yes?" I asked boredly while raising an eyebrow.
"I-I..." the girl began to say before stopping as if she didn't know how to explain herself, she coughed lightly into her hand and continued "I-I was running around the area and I noticed that you hadn't moved in a while and you kept looking at your phone. D-do you need help?" Her nervousness could be noticed from miles away, but it seemed that she was trying hard to speak.
The question took me by surprise and I couldn't help but blink in confusion, I looked down at my phone once again, I grimaced when I saw that more than half an hour had passed while I was staring at the phone, my mother was going to kill me.
"Everything okay?" the girl asked once again, concern was heard in her tone, I simply sighed.
"Of course." I said with a shrug, the girl blinked.
"Oh... sure?" I asked worriedly, of course she would ask, I resisted all urge to roll my eyes but I was almost certain my eye twitched a few times.I didn't really mind the changing gender roles in this world, with 18 years under my belt I had already adjusted to it but I still hated being treated like I was made of glass, I looked exactly like Miyamura Izumi, in fact that was also my name in this world as I had chosen it but her thin and somewhat delicate appearance didn't help, neither did her wearing slightly baggy clothes but if I'm being modest my body is in pretty good shape, I had a build more like a swimmer than a bodybuilder but my body was so dense it wasn't fun, thanks to Zoro and Yoriichi's template and my daily training regimen my muscles were several times stronger than a normal civilian despite still being so thin, I could break a person's bones just by tightly grabbing someone.
"I'm fine." I said dryly, the girl just continued to look at me worriedly so this time I rolled my eyes. "Seriously, I'm fine alone."
"But..."
"Is everything okay here?" a third voice asked firmly, I wanted to sigh again, I turned around to see the third voice that had just interrupted us. A heroine, I didn't recognize the woman in front of me, but definitely a heroine with the kind of clothing she had "Is this girl bothering you young man? "
I snorted loudly as I watched the teenager turn pale, just rolling my eyes and calmly saying "No."
"Sure? You seemed upset, don't worry about anything, I'm here now." said the heroine with a smile and what she surely thought was a heroic pose, it took all my strength and I was working overtime just to keep calm, it wasn't the first time this happened to me, but it became increasingly annoying when they thought I needed help even to walk.
"Yes ma'am, I'm sure there's nothing wrong, I'm just upset because of my girlfriend." I said as I pointed at the girl who flinched, "You're 30 minutes late, in that outfit and sweaty, of course I'm upset." I said as I huffed and crossed my arms, I could see the surprise on both of their faces, I wanted to slap my face with the palm of my hand, if the heroine wasn't focused on me, I would definitely find the girl's reaction suspicious. That being said, I think it's best if we just leave, I just walk in front of the heroine and grab the teenager's wrist, "Let's go."
"W-What?!" the girl shrieked as she let herself be dragged.
"W-WAIT!" the heroine tried to stop us, but I had already gotten on the motorcycle that was parked on the side. I pulled on the clothes of the teenager who hadn't moved and with my gaze I urged her to get on, which she obeyed with a squeal. She had barely finished getting on and holding on when I accelerated, ignoring the heroine's scream.
I could feel the girl behind me grab my waist tightly as I accelerated quickly, but I ignored it, as well as her surprised scream, without a fixed destination, I continued accelerating through some streets until I reached a fairly large park, I entered through one of the paths and stopped in the middle of the park.
"Are you okay?" I asked playfully over my shoulder while the girl was still holding my waist.
"Y-Yes, I-I'm fine." The girl replied, trying to appear calm and failing miserably as she tried to catch her breath, her eyes amused as she watched her tremblingly descend.
"Stop whining," I chuckled.
"I wasn't whining!" the girl said as she blushed slightly as she stood up, I just raised an eyebrow and she looked away, but still murmured a thank you, I hummed lightly.
"So if that's all, see you later," I said with a shrug.
"W-Wait!" the girl yelled and looked over my shoulder. "T-Thanks for not saying anything to the heroine back there."
"It's nothing." I snorted.
"Still, t-thanks." she said again as I started the bike back up, the girl yelled out again "Taylor!" I could only blink and looked at her questioningly, the girl blushed "M-My name is Taylor, Taylor Hebert." she quickly corrected, my eyes widened, now, that was a surprise.
"And might I ask why an American would be in Japan?" I asked with genuine curiosity. After all, that was the whole point, wasn't it? Because the protagonist of Worm, a story that took place mostly in the US, was in Japan.
And not only that, her appearance was definitely different than it should have been, okay, not everything, the general descriptions are there, but I would remember if the main character description had that long hair, and more in a braid. The canon Taylor took pride in her hair, it was the only vanity she had as a woman and only because it was something that resembled her mother, maybe here it is different?
"I'm in Japan to prepare for UA." Taylor said as she puffed out her chest slightly proudly bragging about it, I just blinked a few times.
"The UA school year has already started, there are 10 months left until the next one." I couldn't help but point out, Taylor visibly deflated and smiled sheepishly.
"I have to take the Japanese equivalent of the GED first, so I had to come a few months early." She laughed awkwardly, I just blinked, there was something she was hiding but I just shrugged it off, it wasn't something I cared about.
"You speak Japanese well for a foreigner, I'm sure you'll be fine." When I said that I saw her freeze only to deflate even more.
"It was a quirk, the PRT hired a person with a quirk that can share any language she knows, but it only allows you to speak the language, I still have to learn how to write and read it, along with several subjects that I have to relearn the Japanese equivalent ." she said tiredly and I snorted and said the first thing that came to mind.
"The metric system is better bitch." and I almost laughed out loud, the look of pure indignation on her face was gold.
"Take it back, there's nothing wrong with the American system," she said defensively, I just smiled slightly.
"Make me." I said petulantly, she just growled before crossing her arms, she wasn't going to give in but it seemed like she wasn't going to do anything to me for being a man either, I just rolled my eyes and held out my hand to her "Phone." She seemed confused at my request but still handed me her cell phone, what little self-preservation, I quickly wrote down my name and number and texted myself "Call me, if you don't this week I'll be upset, and by the way, I'm Izumi." I introduced myself "See you later Taylor." I purred her name making her blush.
With that I tossed her phone to her, I watched her clumsily grab the phone out of the air as she stared at me with wide eyes, she didn't seem to fully understand what was going on before she stared in disbelief at her phone as she held it like it was something priceless, I just rolled my eyes and began to speed up once again.
