"Goodbye, Ms Mason. Wish us luck," she heard Dominic say.
She wanted to yell that he'd never get away with this, only… That was exactly his threat. If he didn't get away cleanly, he was going to kill Kyle. She either needed to root for Dominic's success, or think of a more subtle way to undermine his escape.
"Andrea, be careful…" came Kyle's voice.
Before she could respond, the call ended. There was so much more she wanted to tell him, but not like this. Not in front of these two traitors. Andrea closed her eyes and felt the burn. The betrayals cut deep, piercing through her sense of trust and shaking her sense of security, but that was nothing to the potential loss of Kyle. She felt alone, no Kyle to ground her, to dispel the haunting thoughts. The nightmare was becoming real. She felt cold. She smelled… rain.
She told herself that it was okay, she would find a way.
…Assuming she could rescue herself first.
