“Do you have to stand by your drawings, so people can bug you about why and how you did them?” Shaun asked, coming over to Ryan.

“I suppose I should,” Ryan told him. “You can wander and see what else there is. John’s acrylics are over there.” He gestured to the far wall.

“Nope. I’m staying with you.” Shaun patted his shoulder. “For moral support.”

“Geesh, Shaun, I’ve been through this enough times I’m almost a pro.”

“Uh-huh. Still.”

So, for the next hour, Ryan fielded questions about his artwork. He had the feeling Shaun wanted to roll his eyes at some of them, but was too polite to do so.

Finally, Ryan decided he’d had enough. “I need food, and something to drink,” he said to Shaun, and Miss Gina who had joined them.

Miss Gina whispered, “I can’t say much for the spread, other than that it’s edible.”

“That’s about all it is, at these things,” Ryan replied with a laugh.
