Chapter 177 : The ruined city

"Alex, why don't we just find the gold and go back?" Jack asked as he didn't want to face unwanted trouble.

"Don't worry Jack I will deal with the goddess, we just came here to visit " said Alex with a confident face.

"This visit could cost us our lives," said Jack with fear

"Yes I don't think goddess will allow us to visit, " said Will thinking why would goddess allow humans to visit her casually?

"Don't worry, she will allow us."

"Why do you think she will allow humans to visit her who are not even her believers?" asked Jack with a confused face thinking where did Alex's confidence come from.

"What if a god visits her,she has to come right? " Said Alex with a mysterious smile.

"What do you mean?" asked Jack still not understanding.

"You will know it soon," said Alex.

"Alex say it, I don't like surprises," said Jack

"Nope."

With that, the discussion came to an end, and Jack left with a feeling of disappointment at not knowing what Alex was hiding.

After that, they continued their journey to find the city of the dead. After an hour of walking, they found some ruins, which were believed to be the entrance to the city of the dead.

The entrance was between two large rocks that had been carved with many symbols. As they approached the entrance, the air around them began to chill and a feeling of dread filled their hearts.

"It seems we have found the way to the city?" Jack asked as he saw the entrance.

"Yep, this is the entrance. Behind the rocks is the city," said Alex as he looked at the path which was between the rocks.

The path was filled with grass, moss, and human skeletons scattered all around. Jack gulped and looked away, feeling a chill go down his spine.

Soon they exited the path between rocks, and before them lay the city.

The ruined city was filled with crumbling stone walls and buildings. There were many destroyed houses and buildings, some of which were completely ruined and others only partially so.

The scene was one of desolation and abandonment, and the air was heavy with the silence that comes with a place that has been neglected for centuries. The streets were lined with weeds and overgrown trees, and the air was filled with the sound of crows and the smell of decay.

There was an eerie silence in the ruins as if time itself had stopped. The only sound was the wind blowing through the trees, and the only movement was the occasional flutter of a crow's wings.

They stopped walking as they sat near a large mansion to rest, as they had been walking continuously.

"Wow, such a large city it is bigger than Port Royal," said Will as he saw the ruined city.

"Well, you can imagine as this city was ruled by the most famous pirate "Said Alex as he looked at the city.

"But what caused such destruction of the city?" asked Will thinking how can such a city fall like this.

"Well , after the ruler died the people became greedy for his treasure "

"You can think about what happened after that " said Alex.

"The people destroyed themselves as they fought for treasure, "said Jack as he was aware of people's greed, human greed can cause anything.

"Alex where is the treasure?" asked Jack with a twinkle in his eyes.

"We will search for it tomorrow since it is evening we are going to take a break here"

"Or do you want to go back to the ship?" asked Alex.

"It's tiring going back, we'll camp here today," Jack said.

"Okay I will tell the crew to make the necessary arrangements for the night," said Will.

"So, are we going to stay in this ruined city?" asked Elizabeth as she looked at the old mansion.

"Don't worry Elizabeth, I will arrange a comfortable room for both of us."

"Alex what about me?" asked Jack.

"Huh, do you want me to dig a hole and bury you inside it?" asked Alex as he looked at Jack with an annoyed expression.

"No need , I will stay somewhere, "said Jack

"Tch, such discrimination " muttered Jack as he felt alex is treating him coldly.

"What?, Jack I think I heard something?" asked Alex as he looked at Jack.

"Nothing,I was enjoying the city," said Jack

"What is there to enjoy?" asked Alex

"This ruined house and this grass and the moss on the streets"

"And that poisonous snake, beside your leg" said Alex

"Yeah, the snake, wait what? " muttered Jack then he felt something moving on his leg.

"Arghhhhh!!!! " Jack shouted and kicked the snake. The snake was sent flying towards Elizabeth who was standing beside Alex.

Seeing the snake flying towards her,

"Kyaaah " Elizabeth shouted with fear as she saw the black snake flying towards her. However, before the snake could reach Elizabeth a hand caught it in the air.

"Jack, why did you kick this innocent creature? You scared both Elizabeth and the snake " said Alex patting Snake's head.

"What innocent? If that thing bites it is one-way ticket to hell " said Jack checking his leg,to check if there are any bite marks.

"But it didn't. It was just scared."

"See it is docile," said Alex as the snake climbed his shoulders rubbing his head against Alex face. It hissed at Jack with an angry look for kicking.

"Why is it hissing at me?" asked Jack as he saw the snake hissing at him.

"It is angry because you kicked it," Alex said

"How can a normal person remain calm when they face a poisonous snake that may kill you?" said Jack with a complaining voice.

"I know one person," said Alex as he remembered how Luna called a basilisk a cute creature.

"Then that person is not normal," said Jack.

"It is true, she is definitely far from anything normal," said Alex

"Who is this woman?" Elizabeth asked when she heard Alex mention a woman.

"She is Luna. I think I explained to you about her "

"the one who likes animals, "said Elizabeth.

"Yes "

"Whatever I'm out , I will go search if there is any gold in these houses," said Jack not in the mood to talk to Alex anymore.

"Alex, how long are you planning to let that snake rest on your shoulder?"

"What are you afraid of?" asked Alex

"No, I just don't like snakes and other crawling creatures," said Elizabeth with a look of disgust.

"Don't be like that, just touch it and see how cute it is," Alex said while holding the snake in his hand.

"No , keep it away right now " shouted Elizabeth as she backed away from Alex.

Alex squatted down and released the snake. "Please don't get caught by humans otherwise you will become a purse or leather-related item," he said.

"Go and wash, don't come near me until that," said Elizabeth with a frown on her face.

"Common it's just a snake, not some virus," said Alex.
