Chapter 21 - Second Base [III]

"Where is Alex? He was supposed to return and join us by now?" Silver, a man with dark silver hair that reached down to his neck. Silver was a handsome man in his 20s. He was 5 feet 5 inches tall and had a skinny body. The most striking thing about silver was his silver color pupils and silver color wand in his hand.

As seconds passed Silver was getting more worried. He began to fear that something really bad was going to happen to his best friend. After another 3 minutes of silence, unable to stop himself from worrying, silver ordered the man who stood behind him. "Send group C to look for Alex and his team."

The muscular man with tan skin hesitated for a second before asking back. "But Sire, if we were to send our group C to find Sir Alex, our power would be affected. In order to take down Xavion who is a gold rank cultivator, we will need all of our men to attack him together." Unlike Silver, the burly muscular man with tan skin whose name was Luca Smith remained calm and was able to think more clearly.

"Shut up. Did I ask for your opinion? Do what I order you. Otherwise, I don't mind killing you and your daughter." Luca bit his lips tightly in anger and frustration. Luca wondered why he was not a part of Xavion's base. At least, he wouldn't have to feel humiliated.

Seeing how agitated Silver was acting, it was clear that Xavion and his attackers will be the upper hand. Luca was 90% confirmed that Silver and their other evolvers were going to die.

'It looks like I really have to surrender. I can't die here. If I die then who will take care of my daughter?' The only reason, Luca decided to become Silver's right-hand man was because he wanted to protect his daughter. His daughter is his biggest weakness and also his source of motivation.

Luca didn't say anything more and did as Silver ordered him to do. Luca sent group C to search for their other leader Alex.

There was no denying the fact that the reason why their Mutant Base was able to become so powerful within one day was because of Alex's genius mind. But with power, greediness also came. Both Silver and Alex first wanted to get stronger to protect themselves but later they wanted to get stronger to rule other beings. Just when both Alex and Silver discovered that there was another base 9km away from theirs, both couldn't control their greediness.

"Luca, get ready, we're going to attack." Luca didn't say anything. Standing on the roof, on the dark stormy day, 200 meters away from them, Xavion stood with 2 other figures.

Xavion didn't look the least bit scared even though his enemy was 40 evolvers. Wearing golden armor and holding a golden sword in his hand, Xavion looked like a wild tiger. If one looks closely then they would see that some evolvers from Silver's side were trembling seeing Xavion. Almost 90% percent of the evolvers were ordinary people before yesterday. They had no experience with combat or the battlefield. It was inevitable that without battle experience, many would tremble in front of a man who has spent most of his life on the battlefield.

Behind Xavion, Owen and Scarlett stood while looking at their enemies. Due to the rain, their bodies were soaking wet which caused their clothes to tightly hug their bodies and reveal their curves. Normally all the attention would be on Owen and Scarlett but in this tense situation, no one was in the mood of appreciating their beautiful bodies.

"This is your last chance. Surrender or die." Even though Xavion was standing 200 meters away, his voice was like the roar of a lion.

"This bastard. We have 40 evolvers and he has only 3. Does this idiot seriously think he can defeat us? Attack. Today we won't stop until we kill Xavion." Silver was not a gold rank cultivator so his voice wasn't that loud.

Luca who was standing behind Silver shook his head with a disappointed look. Silver clearly has forgotten the fact that Xavion is a gold rank cultivator. His power was something that couldn't be underestimated.

"Charge" With Silver's roar every evolver except for Luca charged towards Xavion.

Seeing all 39 evolvers charging at them, Scarlett and Owen, both girls became scared. Until yesterday, both girls were ordinary girls, living their slave life. Both girls had no experience on the battlefield. Xavion clearly understood that fact. To make both girls grow, Xavion purposely both Owen and Scarlett with him.

"You two stay back. I will deal with this." After saying that, Xavion put his strength in his leg muscles, and in the next second Xavion disappeared, leaving a small crater on the roof.

Seeing Xavion vanish, the realization stuck with Silver. Silver at that moment knew that he had made a mistake. No matter how many low-rank evolvers he had on his side, at the end of the day, Xavion was a gold rank cultivator. Just his speed alone was enough to slaughter all of them. Within less than 4 seconds, Xavion crossed the 150 meters distance and appeared in front of Silver.

"Wait, I surrender."

"Too late." Without changing his expression, Xavion disappeared leaving the headless body of Silver.

The only thing that Owen and Scarlett saw was a golden shadow moving so quickly that both girls couldn't keep track of his movement. The Mutant base which had 40 evolvers, in less than 2 minutes, all the remaining 39 evolvers had died from Xavion's sword.

Now it was Luca's turn. From the beginning, Luca didn't move from his position. Luca already had accepted the fact that he was going to die.

"It looks like you're the only one remaining." Standing 10 meters away from Luca, Xavion raised his sword.

"Wait, I surrender. I have a daughter please don't kill me." Luca wanted to survive for his little daughter who wouldn't able to survive in this world without him. But Xavion wasn't going to stop. "You sided with the traitors. You deserve to die." Luca closed his eyes in regret, sadness, hatred, and frustration. If only he hadn't followed Silver, then he could have lived and taken care of his daughter.

Before Xavion could move, he stopped sensing a familiar presence behind him. Without turning back, Xavion looked at Luca and spoke with a relaxed smile. "It looks like Elyon failed. But the outcome is not that surprising knowing how powerful your Soul is." What Isaac didn't know was, that even with their system others cannot see their opponents' level. Only Isaac's system can allow him to see his opponent's level.

"You knew that Elyon was going to betray you, didn't you?" Xavion turned around to face Isaac. Luca took advantage of this situation and retreated back.

"I have met people like Elyon many times in my life. From the beginning his sly attitude made it hard for me to trust him. I wasn't sure if Elyon was going to betray me. That's why I sent both of you together. Either way, it's my gain since now I will have to deal with only one of you. Even if Elyon had joined them, nothing would have changed."

"You can sense my soul?" Isaac asked.

Xavion didn't hid anything since Isaac was going to die anyway. "I am one of those people who can sense souls. When you came, I noticed that your soul wasn't that powerful. But after one day, you soul had become very strong. Strong enough to even make me feel threatened."

"That's why you wanted to rid of me."

Xavion didn't deny or agree with Isaac's words. "EX we get from killing other beings is actually a small part of our opponent's soul. That small part of the soul gets added to our soul and making us more powerful."

For a moment Isaac couldn't help but feel admiration even though Xavion was his opponent. "We both have different ideologies. While you want to serve, I want to rule." From the distance, Luca was hearing both of their conversations.

"Having a man like you would definitely make things easier for me."

Xavion smiled. "As a guardian, I have swore my allegiance to Lord Greatsorn. I will never betray him."

Xavion had the potentail of become one of Isaac's generals. "Even if I told you that I am the 3rd prince of Aetas Empire." Hearing Isaac's words both Xavion and Luca who has been listening to their conversation had widened their eyes in shock.

But a moment later, Xavion started to laugh. "Hahahah! No wonder your name felt so familiar. It turned out you were the 3rd prince all along." Xavion then stopped laughing and looked at Isaac as killing intent filled his eyes. "

I only swore to serve Lord Greatsorn. If I was told to kill even the king himself, I wouldn't hesitate to do it."

"I guess, now we know how this is going to end."
