Chapter 19 - Second Base [I]

About 9 kilometers south there was another base that had a population of more than [600+]. Yesterday, Xavion and others had come to the south to kill off the zombies and make an area clear so that people would no longer have to hide inside a shelter. Xavion's plan was to thin out the number of zombies around their base and make a temporary fortress that would be around their base. Xavion's plan was to repeat the process until all the zombies in the slum area were eliminated.

But who would have thought that on their very first day of hunting zombies, Xavion and his team would people from another base that was located 9 kilometers away from theirs? At first, Xavion nicely informed the second base leader to merge both bases and have everything under Xavion's control. But they refused to surrender. The leader of the second base wanted independence, meaning he didn't want to lose his control. Hearing the other party's response, Xavion had made up his mind to eliminate the rebels.

All the 7 members of the first base which was under Xavion's control were now standing on rooftops. The continuous rain and the dark sky had made the whole atmosphere gloomy. Because of the non-stop rain, the atmosphere was starting to get really cold. Although cultivators whose level was above 10 were not that affected by the cold as their bodies were naturally more than stronger, the ordinary people were suffering the most.

After staying at the base for one hour, Isaac has learned that Xavion had no food resources. The shelter had no emergency food reserve. This matter concerned Isaac but Xavion didn't look too much concerned about it. In the cold atmosphere, normal people would need to have food to keep their bodies temperature.

Isaac knew if this same thing continues for another 1 or 2 days, then people will start dying because of hunger.

Yet the man who called himself the leader of this base didn't look least bothered. Looking at Xavion's face, the urge to kill this man had increased even more.

"Listen up, the other party should be expecting us and might already be waiting to attack. I want Isaac and Elyon to form a team and attack from the left side." Isaac secretly frowned seeing the sly grin on Elyon's face.

"Lady Aleesia and Aymer, attack from the right side. While the rest of us is going to take the enemy head-on. We have to finish this fight quickly and then start gathering food. Now go." With Xavion's words, everyone disappeared from their place.

Isaac and Elyon both moved towards the west to take a detour and attack the enemy base from the South-west. Aleesia and Aymer were going to attack from the South-East.

While moving, jumping from one roof to another, like a ninja, Isaac only used [45+] of his speed. Since Isaac moved this slow, Elyon had no choice but to match Isaac's pace and move along with him.

"Say, Isaac, what did you do with that Horned tribe man? What happened after we left?" Elyon acted like he was Isaac's childhood best friend.

"I helped his sister." Isaac replied in a cold tone. Isaac purposely kept his answer vague as he didn't trust this skin-changing snake.

Hearing Isaac's answer, Elyon's expression didn't change at all. "Isaac, I am planning on betraying Xavion." Hearing Elyon's shocking words for a moment Isaac's cold expression turned into a shocked expression.

Isaac narrowed his eyes and looked at Elyon. "Why?"

"Why you ask? I think you already should know this answer. You don't like Xavion at all and I have seen it. Let's betray him together. I don't want to work with him."

Isaac didn't immediately reply. Seeing Isaac thinking, Elyon knew that his plan had succeeded. In less than 3 minutes, Isaac and Elyon were only 100 meters away from the enemy's base.

After crossing the 100 meters line, multiple figures appeared on the roof and stopped Isaac and Elyon from advancing.

"Well, well, Elyon I thought you're going to betray us."

"Hahaha! Why I would betray you?"

Isaac slightly turned around to find Elyon holding two daggers and looking at Isaac with a sly smile. "Surprised?"

Isaac did not reply. He instead took a second to observe the postion of 9 figures who now had surrouded him. "Why I should feel surprised? From the moment I met you, I knew that you're a snake. No matter how many times a snake sheds its skin, it will always remain a snake." From the very moment Isaac met Elyon, Isaac has never let his guard down around him.

"Hahaha! I wouldn't deny words. Since I really do love snakes." Elyon laughed out loud. Isaac noticed a blue crystal bracelet on Elyon's left hand.

"I assume you and Xavion planned this yesterday." Isaac knew that Xavion didn't liked him and if possible Xavion wouldn't mind getting rid of Isaac. In fact, Isaac would have done the same thing if he was in Xavion's position.

"A part of it was his plan."

"Yesterday, after I returned to the Base. Xavion sent me here to negotiate. I met my friend Alex here." Isaac looked at the long blond haired man holding a sword in his hand. Alex looked like he was the leader of this base.

"Xavion wanted to eliminate you. While I wanted to betray Xavion. From there things happened automatically. Now, you have two options, either kneel down and surrender or die. I know that your Moon Marshal level is only 11. You don't have a chance against us." Hearing the last part, Isaac was surprised. Isaac wondered how Elyon was able to see his level.

Yesterday when Elyon was killing zombies, one of the zombies dropped an rare item that could allow Elyon to see all living beings levels. Though he can't see anything other than a person'a class and level.

Since Isaac's current class was Moon Marshal, Elyon couldn't see Isaac's other classes.

Isaac slowly rised his hand as if he was surrendering. Both Alex and Elyon noticed that coldness and murdurous intent in Isaac's eye was increasing.

"Gentlemen, I hate to inform it to you but....you all are dead." As soon as Isaac finished his sentence, a red ray of light came from the distance and fall into Isaac's hand. Before Elyon and others could realize what was happening, Isaac appeared behind Elyon.

Ahhhh!

All the 9 people who had surrounded Isaac looked at the scene with horrified gaze. They couldn't believe at what they are looking at.

Cough!

Elyon coughed a large amount of blood. His hands trembled as he lowered his head to look at his chest. Elyon saw a red colored hand and sharp and long claws that was holding his beat heart.

Elyon felt his consiousness getting heavier. He turned around to met those eyes which were no different from the eyes of a dead person. The only thing that Elyon saw in those eyes were endless darkness and cold.

"You...cough!"

Isaac stared at Elyon without any emotion in his face. Elyon's death didn't affect Isaac even the slighest. The skill Heart of Ice kept Isaac calm and emotionless especially in this kind of situations.

"This...." Alex didn't know what to say anymore. This morning Alex and his team had set out to capture another base and grow even stronger. Alex was 99.999% sure that they wouldn't fail but who would have thought that the existence that everyone previously ignored was this dangerous.

'This man cannot be let alive. He has been hiding his strength all this time. I have to kill this cunning fox.'

"Everyone kill him." Alex roared in anger. The death of his friend had caused the volcano within Alex to erupt.

Isaac took out his right hand from Elyon's chest. Before killing Elyon, Isaac had turned his Executioner of Nightmares into a dragon claw. His entire right arm was covered with red scales and each of his fingers had turned into large sharp 8 cm long claws.

Moon Steps!

Activating the moon steps, which had increased Isaac's speed to [126+], Isaac moved like a wind in the rain. No one was able to see how fast Isaac was moving.

Holding his sword, Alex watched the entire scene in horror. Isaac had disappeared like a wind. Even though Alex was a powerful level 25 warrior with normal class, he couldn't even see how fast Isaac moved around. The only thing that he saw large holes in his subordinates' chests.

"Even though my agility is [73+], I still can't even see anything." Like a ghost, Isaac appeared behind Alex and replied. "That's because I have a cheating system."
