A New World

Yoshi opens his eyes and he finds himself standing next to a bridge. 

The bridge cross over a small river and the road leads up to a small city. He looks around at the scenery and is entranced by the scenery. Lush forests, beautiful clear water, wild animals, and slimes. 

'Wait slimes?!'

Yoshi walks up to a slime that was crawling across the ground near him. The small green little monster was just doing its thing. Yoshi leans over and pokes it. It jiggled from his touch. 

"This is pretty freaking cool!"

He looks around a little more to gather his bearings. He then notices something. 

"Wait, where's my dragon?"

He looks around and notices that the dragon pet that he wished for is nowhere to be seen. 

"Do I have to summon it? Must be a spell. Well if this works like a game then.... status!"

Nothing. 

"Ok... then how about, start!"

Still nothing. 

"Select! Status! Oh wait, I already said that. Menu?"

A screen pops up in front of Yoshi's face. 

"Oh so that's what it was, ok let's see... stats, spells, inventory, oh let's check that first."

Yoshi taps on the inventory and it shows only 1 item. 

<dragon egg>

"Oh there it is! Maybe if I select it, then I can hatch it." 

He taps the egg and it brings up the description. 

[Can only be hatched by being placed in a heated furnace.]

"What! A heated furnace!"

Yoshi starts to get angry. 

"Hang on then let me check..."

Yoshi then goes back to spells. 

<spells- none>

"I thought I asked to get a magical boost! I thought I would at least get a good starting spell."

He then goes to the stats tab and his jaw hits the floor. 

"Level- 1, HP- 100, SP- 100, MP- 110! The boost I got was 10 MP! That's it!"

Yoshi clutches his fist. 

"Damn that god! I should've been more specific. He's probably sitting up there laughing his head off!" 

An imaginary Utarr appears above Yoshi and is laughing and giving him a peace sign. 

He falls to his knees and tears are rolling down his face. 

"Oh what did I do to deserve this punishment!"

Some women were walking past, on their way to the city that's up ahead, and they see Yoshi wallowing in his despair. They begin whispering to each other. 

Yoshi shoots up. 

"I will not let this stop me! I will show that stupid god who's boss, after all, I am the hero." 

He looks down at the slime. 

"And I will start with you!"

He throw a punch at the slime. It makes contact and ripples are sent throughout its body. It acts like it didn't receive any damage. 

"Huh!" 

Yoshi then starts repeatedly punching and kicking the slime, but it seems unaffected by his attacks. 

After a few more minutes, Yoshi collapses on the ground, exhausted. 

"I can't believe that I can't even kill one stupid slime, argh!"

He starts grabbing his head and rolls around and has a fit. 

He sits up suddenly. 

"Fine! Then I guess I'll have to go and join a guild." 

He stands up and dusts himself off. 

"After all, I need to grind levels and get new skills and spells."

He gets excited and then points at the slime.

"Just you wait! I'll come back for you, and then we'll have our rematch!"

He pivots on his foot, doing a 180 and heads across the bridge. He soon comes within the city gates and is mesmerized by the size of the walls. 

"Whoa!" 

He looks up at them. They must be about 30 feet tall. 

"Hey! Quit gawking!"

One of the guards that was standing there barked at him. 

"Oh, sorry," Yoshi says walking up to him. 

"Hault, you must pay the toll to get in, if you're an adventurer then show us your ID card."

"Oh um, I'm here to join the adventurer's guild."

"Then you must pay the toll to get in, 2 gold." 

Yoshi scratches his face. 

"I uh, don't have any money." 

"N-No money!"

The guard gawks at him, but then grows stiff again. 

"No money, no entry." 

"What! Come on! I need to get in so I can make some money!"

"No money, no entry."

"Tch!"

Yoshi storms off to think of a way to get in. 

Hours pass and Yoshi had been hiding in a nearby bush, watching the gate and the people entering. He waits until a merchant passes by with a wagon. The wagon was empty and he knew that the guards probably wouldn't check it, since it had no cargo. 

Yoshi jumps into the back of it and lay down perfectly still. 

"Hault!" 

The guard stops the merchant. The merchant shows his merchant guild card and the guard motions for him to pass. The wagon starts to move again. 

'Yes! It's working! I'm almost through-'

"Hault!" 

The wagon stops once more and the guard reaches over into the wagon and grabs Yoshi. 

"Move along," he motions for the merchant to go. 

"But how!"

Yoshi squirms in the guard's grasp. 

"No money, no entry." 

He throws him back outside the city walls. 

"Oof!" 

Yoshi lands on his butt and he stands up and angrily looks at the guard, but walks away rubbing his butt and grumbling.

Yoshi waits until another merchant goes by and notices that he has some rope, so he sneakily steals it and creeps around the city walls where the guard doesn't see him. He grabs a rock he finds and ties the rope around it to make an anchor. 

He spins the rope around and then lets it go. It catches on the other side of the wall. He pulls on it hard to make sure it's secure and begins climbing it. Once he makes it to the top, he finds a door in one of the look out towers and opens it. 

"No money, no entry." 

The guard from before stands there blocking his way. 

"But! Hey!"

The guard grabs him and starts dragging him down the tower and back out to the gate. He throws him back onto the road and returns to his post. 

'Damn him! Fine! I'll just wait until dark.'

Yoshi then takes cover back into his bush and waits until dark. 

The two guards that were guarding the gate, finally got relieved by another two and Yoshi waits just a little bit longer. The two new guards were lazy in their watch and were soon asleep. 

'Hehe, now my chance.'

Yoshi sneaks out of his bush and then creeps along the road until he get to the gate. He starts tiptoeing past the guards. 

One of them snorts, almost rousing from slumber and Yoshi freezes. The guard scratches his stomach and begins snoring again. Yoshi lets out a silent sigh as he resumes tiptoeing past. 

Once he made it past them, he relaxes and starts walking. He's soon grabbed from behind. 

"H-Hey!"

He turns his head to see its the guard from before. 

"No money, no entry." 

He starts dragging Yoshi back out past the gates.

"Just lemme go! Come on, please!"

"No money, no-"

"Entry! Yeah I get it!"

The guard throws him back onto the road and retreats back into the city. 

Yoshi rubs his butt as he retreats. 

"Damn that guard! Damn this world! Damn that stupid god for sending me to this place! I should've just wished to be infinitely rich! Or maybe have unlimited power! But noooo! I had to play this like some game, hoping that I would get overpowered but I should've been overpowered from the start!"

"Hey! Shut the f*ck up! You're too loud!"

One of the guards yells at him as Yoshi is walking off into the distance. 

'Just you wait! I'll get into that city if it's the last thing I do!'

...

3 days pass...

Yoshi is seen starving and dirty. His eyes are red and flies are flying around him because he hasn't bathed in those 3 days. He's seen mumbling to himself.

"I-I have to get in... I have too... Hehe... I'll show that guard... "No money, no entry" my ass."

A farmer is walking by and is pulling a cart with his crops. Yoshi sees him and jumps out of his bush. 

"AHH!"

The farmer jumps in fear as he sees Yoshi in front of him, almost like a wild animal. 

"Sir! Please! Help me! I need to get into the city! They won't let me in! The one guard always seems to find me and says "No money, no entry!" Help me, please!"

Yoshi starts to cry. 

'Ugh, this kid is so pathetic. He smells and he looks hungry.'

"Why do you want in," the farmer asks. 

"I want to join the adventurer's guild, but I don't have money! I need to make money!" 

The farmer just looks at him with disgusted pity and reaches into his cart and grabs an apple. 

"Here kid, god, get your wits about you." 

Yoshi snatches the apple and starts devouring it. 

"Look I'll help you just this once, but don't expect anything else from me got it?"

Yoshi nods his head vigorously. 

The farmer carries Yoshi and his cart to the gate and pays the toll for himself and Yoshi. Yoshi gives him his thanks. 

"By the way kid, you might want to bathe sometime soon, just saying."

The farmer then leaves. 

'I know that! How about you spend the night in a bush for 3 days and see how you like it!'

Yoshi then wanders around and then sometime later, finally finds the adventurer's guild. He enters inside of it and walks up to the front desk. 

The young woman turns and smiles at him. 

"Hello! How can I-"

She gets a whiff of Yoshi and stops.

'Oh my god! This guy reeks!'

"I would like to join the guild."

She gathers her barings. 

"Great, but you must first pay the registration fee, it's 10 gold."

"NO!"

The woman jumps back at his outburst. 

"S-Sorry, I don't have any money," Yoshi mumbles as he leaves the guild. 

He sits down on the front steps and looks up into the air. 

'Ugh! I hate this place! This place hates me!'

He starts to tear up. 

'I hate my life!'
