35 Test

"I have an announcement from the school. In less than two weeks, you will have a reassignment test, everyone must join and their result will give them a chance to attend better class with better resources," Mr. Brown announced.

The students started to talk among themselves about the prospect of a test, just like any other student. They hate going through tests.

But for those who believe they could be in a better class, this was a chance. For the first time, they can choose their own fate and fight for resources rather than let others decide for them through their supposed worth and potential.

Students like Char and Anne, who perform better than most students despite their shackles and limitations, deserve better than being in the lowest class.

"You students do not need to fear, this time we are not going to give you any written test, since you have your summoned creature now, you will be tested using your summoned creature and combat ability rather than your knowledge only!" the man continued.

"But of course should not look down on those who are knowledgeable, if they could use it with the right application then it could be deadlier than any sword, remember that," he warned them not to forget their study.

The students nodded. But who knows how much of these young students actually took his word seriously.

Seeing there was not enough enthusiasm from his students, he grimaced. Most of them were happy enough to have a summoned creature and did not have any ambition to climb higher.

"Listen, everyone needs to do their best, this is for yourself, if you can get to a higher class then that's good, if you can't then you have nothing to lose since you are at the bottom already! The scariest person is not those at the very top, but those who have nothing to lose! Understood?"

"Yes! Sir!" the class replied loudly, just like the man wanted.

"Alright, now that everyone is excited, I will tell you about the test! You will be sent out of the city to a nearby forest, and you will need to hunt wild creatures there."

The student started to quake once more when they heard that they would be going out of the city. For their entire life, they never were out of the city's protection, they had been told that outside were invested uncountable creatures, only those who were strong and brave enough could return from the outside world.

"Don't be afraid, you will only go to a hunting ground that had been cleaned up by the city guards and hunters so your life will not be in danger," he tried to calm the students.

Once they calmed down, he continued with his explanation, "You will receive a tracking device that tracks you and counts your kill in the hunting ground. You have five days in there and at the end of the test, your score will be ranked, and you will be assigned to the new class according to your ranking."

"The score you get will depend on the level of the creature you kill, if you kill level 1 creatures then you will get 1 score and if you kill a level two creature you will get 2 scores."

"But there is more, if you by any chance could kill a creature on a higher tier than you, which is very unlikely, you will get a score ten times their level."

Suddenly a student raised his hand, "Sir, may I ask?"

"Sure, what do you want to ask?" Mr. Brown agreed. In fact, he was happy to see the student enthusiasm in the form of questions.

"Will we need to fight higher-tier creatures? Wouldn't that be too dangerous?" the boy asked.

"you don't need to be worried, as long as you stay on the outer side of the hunting ground then you will not find higher tier creatures. The rule was only made to accommodate stronger students from the elite class who could kill one if they work in a team," he explained.

"Additionally, for your safety, you can call for help by using your tracking device, the teacher and staff will come and save you. But of course, if you ask for backup, then you can't continue hunting."

With the explanation, the student finally felt relieved. They could try their bets without fearing for their safety.

"In the hunting ground, you have two ways to gather scores, the first is to kill creatures, and the second one is to kill another student's summoned creature, if you kill another's summoned creature then you will get their scores."

In the hunting ground, the number of creatures was finite, so they needed another way to gather scores. Snatching them from others was a good option.

"If any of you have a question, then please ask them now," Mr. Brown said.

The students started to ask questions they wanted to know, a lot of their questions were about safety for an obvious reason.

"If there are no more questions, then we will start today's class, from today I will teach you about survival for your test so pay close attention to what I'm teaching you," the man explained.

During the class, he made sure to emphasize the importance of making a team. In the hunting grounds, the creatures mostly live in groups so it would be dangerous to roam alone.

"Char, will you make a group with me? I think we will make a wonderful team from our last tournament," Anne whispered.

"who else is in this team?" he asked.

"Currently just you and me, the other from our class is not good enough while I don't know anyone outside of our class," she shrugged.

Everyone in the same year as Char will join the test, and there was no rule about teaming up with students from different classes, but Char also has no plan to contact his former friends.

"Alright, just the two of us are fine, the more members we have means it will split our score more," he agreed with her.

"I will need to improve the skeleton's magic and evolve it in these two weeks. Maybe I need to push back visiting my family until the test is finished," he thought.
