37 Chapter 37

After buying a few things, we finally made our way home. The door was unlocked which meant Kizashi was home. The inside of the house was spotless clean with nothing out of place. That was truly amazing for me.

Can a husband truly be left home alone for so long without messing up the house? Back on Earth, my wife would not leave for thirty minutes and the place would already be messed up. I know for a fact, that there was no husband or even boyfriend that was not like that, and yet, here one stood with his stupid hairstyle.

'Maybe he is cheating?'

After jumping into each other's arms and saying some cringy stuff, Aoi and Kouki were finally introduced. Amazingly, Kizashi got them to call him 'dad', even faster than Mebuki did. Man got skills. After a few rounds of hugs here and there, we finally had a nice family lunch.

….

The new Haruno Family stood in front of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, who stood behind his desk with his smoking pipe. He had such a wide smile on his wrinkled face. He was genuinely happy of the return of his new sharp weapon. What was even better was the two new youngsters standing in front of him. From what he was told, they were orphans which she intended to have as her own children, and Knowing her, then they were definitely diamonds, just like her daughter. That meant more weapons for his village. Thinking about it made him smile widen even more with happiness.

"I was hoping Lord Third would allow Aoi and Kouki join the current batch of graduating students." She spoke without a change in her expression. Hiruzen, however felt a pain as the smile on his face threatened to fall, but he impressively held on.

He had already had a good look at them, and judging by their chakra and the air about them, they were no mere children. He was hoping to incorporate them into his Anbu, yet she was once again about to mess up his plans.

"Mm, under normal circumstances, that would be ideal. However…" He paused for irrelevant dramatic effect, puffing in and out some smoke which made me roll my eyes inwardly, "…It is quite a shame that all the students of the graduating class have already been sorted into their teams with their respective Jounins, adding them to the mix would most likely disrupt the balance of growth for these new genins; and from what I can tell, these two have well surpassed genin level."

'What bullshit balance of growth?' His hard ability to bullshit was truly amusing. It made me almost laugh out.

"Besides, the young lady seems to be quite older compared to the graduating class. That would be quite the imbalance." Hiruzen stood stroking his beard appearing to be lost in thought for a few seconds before finally speaking again,

"How about this, I will let them take the Anbu test, even if they are unable to pass, which I doubt, they will be given training until they are able to. The missions would give them good experience as they grow older. How about it, joining Anbu will allow you to get strong enough to protect your new family." Hiruzen looked to the siblings with a grandfatherly smile, as he finished his statement.

'This damned old man is playing on their trauma. He really is no good. Ah, I want to shove a kunai into his nose.' My face was just as expressionless as before as I stared at him. That subtle move of hinting at their loss and powerlessness to do anything about it was really a nasty move.

I slowly looked up the corner of the room and smiled before concentrating on Hiruzen once more. My move was glaringly obvious so of course it did not go unnoticed. With my chakra spread out, covering the entire room and just out the room, nothing escaped my senses.

My chakra carpet, after an entire year had extended to a comfortable fifty meters and two hundred when I stretched it out. I could now easily manipulate the fifty meters, and stretch it into a hundred meters if I changed it into a straight line instead of the circle without others finding out. Circle was better for me though. That way I had a 360-degree vision of my surroundings all the time.

The room was filled with Hiruzen's Anbu agents, well hidden. However, what I looked at was not one of his, but one of Danzo's root agents. He had obviously gotten wind of our arrival and had sent one of his agents to spy in on the conversation or us. It made me wonder though; did the old wrinkled bastard, Hiruzen, truly not know of the agent present or did he just deliberately ignore him?

Root. The personal retinue and army of Shimura Danzo. They carry out missions that Danzo deems beneficial to Konoha. Because they are considered unseen armies that protect Konoha in the dark, most of their missions are more of the unpleasant side, such as eliminating potential threats to the village despite these threats not actually doing anything. Root was officially disbanded after the Uchiha massacre due to Danzo spearheading the tragedy, yet it continued to operate in the dark.

Hiruzen 'finally' noticed the spy in the room and was about to take action when the root agent who saw his cover blown, quickly jumped towards the window. Just as he was about to reach the window, he suddenly fell with a thud, unmoving.

Two of Hiruzen's agents went to check the condition of the fallen spy while two stood on guard beside the Hokage to protect him. Hiruzen looked back to see a frowning Mebuki, a wide mouth and surprised Sakura, and the two siblings with their weapons out standing beside Sakura and Mebuki, looking around cautiously for anything that might attack them.

"Hokage-sama, the assailant has been paralyzed." One of the anbu agents checking on the fallen spy spoke, bringing Hiruzen out of his thoughts.

"Restrain him and send him away." He ordered, but just as they were about to carry it out, the fallen anbu agent suddenly sprang up before suddenly falling back down. Dead. Hiruzen sighed before signaling for the body to be sent away.

Turning back to us, my eyes and mouth had widened even more in surprise. This time I was genuinely surprised. 'What the hell was with that over-dramatic move? What was the point of springing back up if you were only going to kill yourself?'

"Young Sakura, well done for pointing out the spy in our midst. Would you mind telling me how you found him?" He signaled for his Anbu to return to their places as the tension in the subsided, returning everything to normal once again

"Ah? I just felt someone staring at me quite a lot, occasionally directing killing intent towards me. I assumed it was the big bear that came to get us earlier, but who would have thought…" My words trailed off at this point as I turned silent, looking at the former place the Root agent was hiding first.

'She may have gotten strong but in the end, she is still a child, naïve. That is good.' Hiruzen smiled inwardly, happy at the turn of the situation. The gears in his head turning, making him smile even more.

"It is fine. That must have startled you quite a bit. Such unusual things happen occasionally, especially when you are the reason. The most important thing is you should not let your guard when they suddenly do." He advised grandfatherly as he continued, "Don't worry, with me here, I would never have let any harm come to any of you. Everyone in the village is one big family, and we always protect our family." He finished, laughing loudly
