Chapter 6 Going To The Frontlines

Shortly after leaving the village Fugaku, Itachi and Akira rendezvous with the other shinobi from Konoha and made their way to base camp.

After moving for a day the group made it to the closest base to village which also doubles as the brains of Konoha during the war.

They stayed for the night before leaving the next morning .

After traveling for another day they made it to a resting zone in between headquarters and the frontline.

Once they found a place in the base to settle down Fugaku turned to the two boys

"I'll be leaving tomorrow so while I'm gone I want the both of you help out where you can. If they need help in the kitchen you help, you help them. If they need help in the medical ward, you help them, so help wherever you can got it" Fugaku said with a serious attitude

""Yes sir"" both Itachi and Akira said in unison

See their response Fugaku smiled and said "That's good and you guys should sharpen you skills in your free time but for the time being don't leave this area till I get back but for now go and rest up".

The next day Fugaku was gone and it was just Itachi and Akira left.

Akira turned to Itachi and said "So once we finish all our jobs do you want to train together"

"Yeah, sounds good." Itachi replied "if you need help with anything let me know I've done these sort of things before when I came last time"

"Alright I will don't worry"

The two of them went off to their tasks

Akira made his way to the medical ward.

"Hi I'm here to help if you guys need it" Akira said as he made his way inside.

"Oh hello there young man who might you be" said a nurse who approached him.

'What's kid doing here shouldn't he be back at the village' thought the nurse

"My name is Akira Uchiha and my father is Fugaku Uchiha, I'm here to help whenever I can." Akira said with a smile on his face.

"Oh and if you're wondering why I'm here and not staying in the village with rest of the kids it's because I'm here gain experience"

The nurse was surprised but she replied "oh that's nice, you're not like kids you're age."

'It's better to stay out of the affairs of main clans it's less trouble' she thought to herself.

"Follow me I'll show you the basics, since your still a kid I won't expect you to do too much"

"Sure" Akira said as he followed behind. 'I'll try to learn as much medical ninjutsu while I'm here'

"Usually we don't have a lot of people here but when we do we ended having a lot so make sure you help out as much as you can when that happens" the nurse explained

"Of course, I'll help as much as possible"

"Maybe I could end up saving someone and they could give useful ninjutsu as a reward" Akira thought to himself

The nurse showed Akira where the resting bay and medical supplies are held.

After he's done helping around he went to meet itachi.

"Yo itachi, you ready to train" Akira said with a smile

"I'm ready, let's start with the usual" Itachi replied.

They started off sparing with taijutsu then started to practice the ninjutsu that Fugaku thought them.

Weeks passed by like this and Akira made a lot of progress in his strength and chakra control.

Then all of a sudden an influx of people came in showing that they had just come back from a battle and among was Fugaku.

Akira and Itachi met up with him as soon as he got back because he wanted to show them the aftermath of the battle.

"Boys get ready we are about to leave" said Fugaku with a serious expression.

They then made their way towards the land rain border.

After traveling for a few hours Akira saw the body's of dead people for the first time ever and was confused on how to feel.

"Although I've been preparing myself mentally it doesn't compare to seeing it in person, I think I might be a little sick" Akira thought to himself with mixed emotions showing in his face

Itachi saw this and decided to say something to Akira

"I know how you feel and it's alright I was like that too at the start but it's better you get used to it now rather than later"

Akira smiled knowing that Itachi was trying to comfort him.

"Thanks but I think I'll be fine for now" replied Akira

'I still am not use to this guy talking like he's older than he is' thought Akira to himself

After moving for a little bit more they finally made it to the place where they fought.

"Do you guys have all your ninja tools, there could be some stragglers left" said Fugaku while looking forward at the large dead bodies scattered across the area in front of him.

"Yep, I got it all here" replied Akira

'I even packed a little extra just in case. This explosive tags may come in handy if needed' Akira thought to himself

He found it in the storage room back home while he was looking around.

They walked around looking for any shinobi that may still be alive.

While they were walking Fugaku said "do you know why I brought you two here? It's because I want you know what the life on a shinobi is really like. Your future will be like this one day so it's better to get used to it now"

Both Itachi and Akira said nothing in response and just kept walking

After wondering around for a bit Itachi saw an injured shinobi and tried to give him water but when he saw that he had ninja tools he tried to attack him but his throat was sliced by Itachi almost reflexively with his kunai.

Akira could feel his heart pounding in his chest and his mind was in shock at what he just saw.

'What the hell, he actually killed him and with no hesitation, he's just a kid and he did that so easily' thought Akira as watched a few meters away

[it seems you finally realised that this is no longer a fantasy world you dreamed about and it's now your reality, you better get used to it]

Digesting what Raphael said to him he and slowly calmed.

"You're right I have to get used to it but it doesn't mean I have to like it" Akira replied to Raphael in his head.

Fugaku saw Akira was distraught about the situation and decided he needs to learn about this life.

"Akira next time we find an enemy shinobi you are going to kill him you got it!"

Both Itachiand Akira were surprised when thry heard this

"Father don't do thi-" he was cut off

"Be quit! He needs to learn about this life as soon as possible because this is what his future hold for him" Fugaku said firmly

Itachi could only stay quiet but he was still worried for his brother.

"Don't worry Itachi I'll be fine you don't have to worry it and father I'll do it" Akira said confidently.

Fugaku just nodded but he thought to himself

'It may not be something a good father would do but I'd rather them be prepared for the future'

They all continued to walk around until Fugaku could sense someone was alive.

All he said was "quickly follow me" and they all ran in the same direction.

Fugaku spotted a stone village shinobi and threw a kunai in front of him to get his attention.

The stone shinobi turned around and grabbed the kunai in his pocket. He knew the best he could do in the face of an enemy was run away since he was injured.

Once the enemy shinobi turned around Fugaku activated his sharingan to put him in a genjutsu causing him to fall to his knees with a blank expression on his face.

"Quickly Akira come here and kill him. You have do it cleanly to make sure he feels no pain as he dies!" Fugaku shouted at Akira.

Akira ran over to the half conscious man and pulled out his kunai.

He stood in front of the man getting ready to slice his throat but he was hesitant.

"Quick before he breaks out of the genjutsu. He jonin so it shouldn't take him long" Fugaku said calmly.

"Do it cleanly and don't hesitate" Akira thought to himself.

He brought the kunai in back and swung it.

As the kunai was moving Akira saw the shinobi break out the genjutsu and make eye contact with him and blade passed through his throat.

Akira could see a bunch of emotions in his eye as died. The shinobi fell backwards and so did Akira.

Akira looked at the kunai that had blood on it as shaking along with his hands and thought to himself "There's no Turing back now".

Taking a deep breath he looked up at Fugaku who just nodded his head in response.

Itachi put out his hand to help Akira get up. Akira grabbed it and they all made their way back to base camp.
