Chapter 489: Grindelwald: Why does Dumbledore like you?

There is a channel between England and Austria, as well as the two countries of the Netherlands and Germany.

In a normal international trip, a wizard would need to go to the Ministry of Magic to apply for a Portkey and then use it to travel to the continent across the channel.

But for House-elfs, this distance is nothing.

Because House-elves have special Apparition.

They can easily Apparate over long distances, and they can even Apparate with multiple people, ignoring most Anti-Apparition charms.

Ever since he learnt about the magical system of house elves, Andy has always had a question in his heart – why are magical beings like house elves reduced to being slaves of wizards?

"Done?" Andy asked.

"Yes!"

Kreacher bowed deeply, and his old body involuntarily shivered. "Master, I have given him the item."

Andy raised an eyebrow in confusion, "What's wrong with you?"

Kreacher looked up at Andy for a moment, then quickly looked down. "Master, that person is terrifying..."

I see!

After all, it was Grindelwald, the man who had once caused bloodshed across the European continent.

Terrifying. Was that so unusual?

He was much better than Voldemort, who had been fighting for half his life and had failed to even take down a single school.

"You've worked hard!"

Andy said lightly, before quickly raising his wand and pointing it at Kreacher, "Obliviate!"

A flash of magical light disappeared.

Kreacher fell to the ground and passed out.

Andy conjured up the Fat Cat Patronus and told it to stay on the ground floor and keep an eye on Sirius and Harry. Andy used the Levitation spell to send Kreacher to the third floor and then released it from the control of the Imperius Curse.

Hiding in a corner, Andy observed for a while, and Kreacher woke up after a short while.

The ageing house-elf looked a little confused. It turned its head around and looked around as if pondering the three great philosophical questions of life:

Who am I?

Where am I?

What am I doing?

The familiar surroundings made Kreacher feel a little more at ease, and he began to get back to work.

'OK!'

After hiding in the shadows for a while to make sure Kreacher was fine, Andy turned around and went back to the study.

He took out the other Two-way mirror.

Andy suppressed his excitement and said, "Gellert Grindelwald..."

The image in the mirror changed from "Andy" to an "old man with white hair", and the background changed from "study" to "dilapidated prison cell.".

"It is an honour..."

Andy said first, "Hello, Mr Gellert Grindelwald. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Andy Collins. I am a third-year wizard at Hogwarts."

Grindelwald did not say anything. He leaned in a little, his old face almost touching the mirror as if he wanted to take a good look at Andy. "I am the neighbour of Madam Bathilda Bagshot, and I often visit her during the holidays."

"I am also Headmaster Dumbledore's favourite student, and he often gives me some private guidance in magic."

Andy continued, "So I have heard some stories about you, and I am curious..."

Grindelwald finally spoke, his voice sounding a little hoarse. "Why did Dumbledore like you?"

"Maybe...because we're the same kind of person!"

Andy said casually. "He said I was a lot like him when he was young."

Grindelwald snorted, looking a little dismissive.

Andy didn't care but continued, "It seems that Nurmengard can't trap you. So... is it a vow in your heart that's keeping you there?"

Grindelwald did not answer this question but instead asked curiously, "If Dumbledore knew you had contacted me secretly, what do you think he would think?"

"Who cares?" Andy said indifferently.

Grindelwald: "..."

Andy continued, "There's no law against keeping in touch with you, is there? At least not in the British wizarding world. They've erased most of the information about you, and many people only know this name."

Grindelwald laughed, "I'm not surprised."

"Me too," Andy said.

Now that the pleasantries had been exchanged, Andy was ready to get down to business.

"I've been studying soul, death, magic transfiguration, and Obscurus lately... but I've run into some problems."

Andy looked at Grindelwald in the mirror and said seriously, "You're an experienced wizard, so I was hoping... you might be able to give me some guidance."

Grindelwald snorted at this, looking a little disdainful.

But instead of saying something like, 'Why should I guide you?' he asked curiously, "Tell me what you know!"

"Dark magic transfiguration... I've already experimented."

Andy said, "Using the notes left by Slytherin, I successfully stole the magic of death. By the way, I have the Resurrection Stone in my hands."

"According to my research, the human body is a material object, while the human soul is a kind of existence that transcends matter... the soul may come from a higher dimension…"

"..."

Andy then shared his speculations about souls and dimensions.

"And Obscurus..."

Andy continued, "From the first day I was exposed to magic, the mind and magic have been the subject of my research."

"For this reason, I successfully improved the Patronus Charm."

"Through further exploration, I discovered that the power of magic transfiguration can be used to achieve initial compatibility with the power of Obscurus."

"The proof is... Headmaster Dumbledore's sister and nephew are both Obscurial and have lived past the age of ten. And the bloodline of the Dumbledore family possesses the power of the phoenix!"

"So I speculate that the body after magical transfiguration may be able to perfectly contain the power of the Obscurus."

"Of course, this requires further evidence."

Having said this, Andy looked at Grindelwald with serious eyes.
