Chapter Twenty one

At a certain part of the mansion, Alex was searching for Eve when he felt a presence watching him.

"Show yourself!" He stood at defense, ready to attack whoever it was. Especially, that arrogant Vampire.

" Relax..." A feminine voice said before giggling. " ...Always so cautious..." She giggled more before showing herself.

"It's just me Alex." Mercy smile at him wondering why he was so tense when those fae warriors were already dead.

"Oh, it's you." Alex relaxed a bit before resuming his search. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with your Sisters?"

"I was with them a while ago. They don't need me anymore since we have dealt with those pesky fae warriors." She walked close to where Alex was before whispering in a sultry voice. "I came to see you...."

Mercy stood at Alex's back when she whispered those words. Hearing those words, Alex paused for a moment.

"I miss you..." She whispered in a sultry voice. She wrapped her hands around his abdomen, feeling his taut muscles.

Alex drew a sharp breath. Though they had broken up over a century ago, they have sex partners for decades now. It was not easy letting go of her. But with Eve on his mind lately, he finally had a reason to totally let go of her.

" It's been decades since we spent the night together...." As always, Mercy exaggerated. It had been a month not decades.

Tracing her fingertips dangerously at his lower abdomen, she tip toed to leave a kiss on his neck.

"Mercy... Mercy..." He groaned in frustration. Though he was slowly getting over her, she still affected him. " ... Stop..."

"What did you say? I didn't hear you." She knew exactly how to break his resolve. She slowly touch him through his trousers, feeling the hard warm bulge between his legs.

"Mercy..." He inhaled sharply. "...I can't... You... need to...you need to stop."

Suddenly he heard her. He heard Eve's voice. She was somewhere close to the back door of the room he had come to search for her.

Eve's voice broke him from the frenzy rush of pleasure he had almost lost himself in.

"Mercy, stop." He said firmly. He removed her hands from him body before turning to face her. "You need to go with your sisters. I can hear them looking for you."

With that he walked away.

Mercy stood there stunned that Alex did not want her touch. She did not have special hearing abilities, so she did not hear Eve's voice.

Though she suspected that Alex recent attitude towards her was because of Eve, she had not confirmed it. Ever since her "best friend", Eve had started staying in the mansion, she had noticed how close Alex and Eve were becoming. She had caught Alex staring at Eve longingly a few times. And to make it worse, he had refuse to have sex with her.

At this point, Mercy grew jealous. She saw nothing special in Eve. What did Alex see in her that she doesn't have? It was not like Eve was a proper witch. She could not even chant a spell to save herself.

Mercy wondered why even every of her Sisters talked about her with reverence too. Being the youngest witch among The Sisters, she had been chosen to be a spy in Eve's life when she had escaped from Faeland with her mother and needed to blend in with the humans.

She had been Eve's best friend for years so she could monitor and give reports to the Queen Witch. Mercy had not minded it. Anything was fine for her as long as she had an excuse to see Alex.

Mercy's eyes narrowed at the thought of anything going on between Alex and Eve.

Meanwhile, Alex rushed to the garden at the backyard. He had heard Eve's voice from that direction. Worried that Eve was in trouble, he searched the garden.

When he spotted light glowing in the greenhouse, he ran to it. The greenhouse was made of glass. So, he could see through it.

But when he ran to the source of the light, he was already too late. The light was from the portal that had been created in the pond. He had reached the pond in time to see Eve get pulled into the portal. Quickly, the portal closed right before him.

" We should just give up now. I can't open a portal like my mom. " A fraustrated Eve said with a sigh.

"You can't or you won't?" Andrew knew his mistress could do it. After all, that was what she had done to put them trouble years ago. Years back, when she was a lot younger, his mistress had opened a portal to a long forgotten realms, Njabír. She had gotten both of in trouble. And now, she was convinced she could not do it.

"I can't open the portal! " Eve yelled in anger. She grew tired of hearing Andrew accusing tone. "If I could, I would have gone somewhere really far from you! I would have saved my mom from that evil fae! I would have..."

By that time, tears threatened to spill from her eyes. She did not realize the pond behind her glowing. They were in the greenhouse where grandma Martha grew her special herbs. The pond sitting at the center of the greenhouse started glowing.

  "Eve..."

"Don't Eve me! Do you think I like being trapped in this mansion?" Eve kept ranting not realizing that she had open a portal through the pond.

  "Eve..."

" I want to leave too. I want to find my mom. I—"

  "Eve..."

  "What?!!" Her voice echoed loudly.

"Look." Andrew pointed at the glowing pond behind her. " You opened the portal. Now let's go."

"How? How did I do it? " Eve stood there in shock, staring at the glowing pond.

"We don't have time. Let's go." Andrew said as he jumped into the pond and disappeared to a different place.

While Andrew had jumped in without hesitation, Eve looked at the pond hesitantly.

"Wow." She touched the portal with her fingers and watched it get swallowed. Suddenly, she felt someone grip her hands and pulled her in.

Just as she was pulled in. The portal disappeared. And soon, it was calm and ordinary like nothing extraordinary happened.
