13 Another Timeskip

-ca. 4 years later

Julius was woken up by a a painful ringing in his ear which he quickly silenced with a wave of his hand, this was a useful spell he learned from his grimoire but it was causing him headaches regularly.

But this day was special, he simply couldn't bear the risk to loose a part of such an important day.

Today would be the day he would be able to learn more about Death Magic, his eleventh birthday. He had already sensed an anomaly in with his magic as soon as he woke up; it was simply of a much greater quantity and it also gave of a feeling of being more- malleable for lack of a better word.

'This is certainly a big improvement, three more on magic power additionally to the three I already got through training since the first time I spoke to teacher, though I hoped I would at least reach the next threshold with this. And my physical progress is beyond disappointing, though that one was at least expected by me.'

After going through his usual fitness routine he made his way to the Mausoleum.

Though his teacher was not able to teach him any actual death magic he was still able to teach him general and even less general knowledge. For example he had found out what teacher meant when he said he needed to be eleven before learning death magic; when a person turned eleven was not only when they reached a magic power of ten naturally, though for some extremely talented young wizards it could even be up to twelve magic power, but also the moment their magic power growth rate through training gets strengthened extremely which is the reason almost no one ever tries to let his children train their magic power, it's just not worth the hassle.

When Julius entered the Mausoleum he saw an impatient eagle walking the wall up and down which it ceased after Julius entered.

<Finally you brat are here, took you long enough. I thought you had been waiting for this moment but it doesn't seem very important to you.>

Ignoring his teachers usual nagging Julius took the grimoire and looked at his teacher expectantly until he gave in.

<Fine I will teach you now so come closer.>

After Julius was standing directly in front of him the eagle touched his forehead with it's beak.

Suddenly Julius felt something thrumming inside his body and he felt a weak connection to something he couldn't quite grasp yet.

<What you are feeling is your connection to the source of death magic, if you want to cast death magic you need to feed it not only with your magic power, but also establish a connection with this „source". I will now teach you your first spell. You will just need to practice this spell till you've completely mastered it. And there are no shortcuts for that if you don't want to cripple yourself forever.>

After making sure Julius had understood him the eagle spoke again.

<Now the spell is „Vivum". You might be wondering why your first spell in death magic is called „life" but in death magic the name of the spell actually represents what you want to „kill", at least this is the rough explanation I will give you for now as you just don't need to know more for now. As you should be able to cast the spell through the grimoire and through a wand there are no wand movements you need to know, if your intent is strong enough as well as your magic power you feed it with and the connection to the Source (Author here: I will just call it „the Source" from now on because I'm lazy) the spell will succeed. And your intent in this case is to just spread the magic in front of you in a small space, you will be able to set much clearer distinctions later.>

Following his teacher's instructions Julius willed his magic power to only cover a space of a few cubic centimetres while chanting the spells name and trying his best to simultaneously form a connection to the Source.

At first everything seemed to be going well until the weak connection Julius was able to create collapsed and pulled the whole spell with it in the process.

Frowning Julius tried again, this time while focusing less on the magic power part and more on the connection part as the magic power was only controlling how effective the spell would be and he didn't need any specific effects for now.

This time it worked and Julius felt his magic power changing to feel more like the source.

Then he suddenly felt a connection to a few microorganisms in the space he targeted until they got into contact with his changed magic power and their lives ended abruptly.

When Julius looked at exactly the same space while maintaining his spell he saw nothing, it seemed completely unchanged.

Julius let the spell dissipate and stepped back from the space where he just killed every bit of life while turning towards his teacher.

„Why did I feel those microorganisms in the air just now? I thought it was death magic?"

<That's part of the things I said I would tell you later. Now get out of here I bet there is some desperate owl out there which just wants to finally find you to give your your Hogwarts acceptance letter.>

After this teacher wouldn't speak anymore, the eagle returned to it's base and lost it's darkness so Julius left the Mausoleum and made his way to small dining room he and his family usually had their meals in.

And indeed when he arrived there he saw George trying to calm down an owl which had a look of complete desperation and a letter at its legs which was adorned with an all-to-familiar wax seal.

Seeing the desperate owl Julius quickly took the letter and opened it.
