Momentum Arrestum II

"Let's try this, but I am telling you it would be better if we go ourselves."

"Good night. Now, what would three young Gryffindors such as yourselves be doing here, in the night past your curfew?"

The three of them jump and quickly turn around.

"Uh, w-w-w... we-we were just-"

"Fifty points from Gryffindor."

"Fifty!"

"Now would that be another twenty for talking back to a professor, Mr. Weasley?"

"No sir, we were just returning to our dorms from Professor McGonagall's office." Hermione took Ron and Harry's hand and practically pulled them away while Snape turned and walked away.

"We should have travelled under the cloak."

"YOU THINK?" Harry cloaked them again and started walking towards the library.

...

"Professor Yeager we need your help."

Eren, who was sleeping in his chair woke up at the jumpscare.

"What are you three doing here this late? And how did you know I was not in my quarters."

"Sir you are never there. But this is important! Professor Snape is going after the Philosopher's Stone tonight!" Eren looked at the trio doubtfully.

"How did you come by this information?"

"In the Forbidden Forest! Voldemort was drinking Unicorn Blood and then the robbery at Gringotss! Nicolas Flamel gave the stone to the Headmaster! Snape is after the stone after Dumbledore is gone to the ministry!"

Eren looked at Harry who had spoken all of that breathlessly.

"That should not be true. But I will check nonetheless."

"You know who helped Dumbledore hide the stone?" Ron asked

"Of course I know him, He's me" Eren takes his cane to his hand.

"Now you three will go back to your dorms or I will have to inform Minerva of this curfew breach." The faces of the three Gryffindors lost their smile.

Eren wanders off to the third floor, opening the trapdoor to meet Fluffy.

...

"I am telling you we should be there with him!"

"Professor Yeager has already told us, Ronald, he has Dumbledore's confidence for the matter."

"And might I remind you what happened last time we ignored Professor Yeager's orders not to come behind him? He nearly lost his remaining hand!"

"And that's why I am telling you! he is a disabled person Harry. We came here to take Mr. Yeager with us, not him to go alone. For all we know he is the one trying to get the stone, not Professor Snape!" Harry and Hermione were silent for a moment.

"But it was you who was adamant that Snape was the one going for the stone!"

"Because Harry told Snape had a Cerebus bite in his leg! And everyone knows Snape was a death eater- he is safe because of Dumbledore- his loyalty is questionable, but Yeager just comes after Madam Pince surprisingly dies because of a magical creature attack- the same year Nicolas Flamel gave Philosopher's stone to Dumbledore! I don't trust either- but we just told one of our suspects that we know someone is after the stone!"

"Then why did you not say this earlier!" At this point, the trio was already shouting. In the corridor, Argus Filch heard something during his patrol.

Harry Hermione and Ronald silenced themselves. Filch did not pay mind to patrol and just ignored his duties while his mind was somewhere else.

"I think we should go after Professor Yeager," Hermione said after Filch was gone. 

Harry was still doubtful whether to go with this plan or not- No he should go. He must go.

Harry could not risk Voldemort's resurrection.

A lot of lives were at stake.

"And I can't think why are you two still saying Professor Yeager. He is not a Professor!"

"But we don't know where is the stone locked."

"It is obvious Harry. It's on the third floor. The Cerebus should be there- I don't know how to get past that, so we should hurry. We might yet follow Mr. Yeager while hiding under your cloak."

The three are under the Invisibility cloak, sneaking along the corridor.

A flame lights up. Hermione draws out her wand and points it at the door.

"Alohomora." Nothing happens. Harry opens the door manually.

"It was already open. Professor Yeager must be ahead." A blow of air, and the cape flutters off them.

"The Cerebus is sleeping. There is a name tag on him."

"I can see why someone named him Fluffy." Just beside the gate, Eren was waiting for the trio.

"Professor Y-"

"I am not a professor, Hermione. And I expected you to break the rules so I was waiting. Now run back. The stone is safest under the protections done by all the Prof-"

"BOMBARDA MAXIMA!" There is an explosive sound coming from the trapdoor behind Fluffy, where no one was supposed to be.

"What I Told You Was True... from a certain point of view." He said while running towards the trap door.

Eren had known that the task of protecting the Philosopher's Stone had been a test or trap depending on his intentions.

Dumbledore wanted to lure someone, and he was suspicious of him from the beginning for this.

Like all other professors, he was asked to contribute to the protection and he had delivered such, harbouring no greed for the artefact as he had no use for it.

He did not know how to use the stone, it would take decades if not years to get on with the basics, and that possibility was not worth the risk of getting an enemy like Dumbledore.

Behind him were the golden trio, which had no regard for authority, following him.

'Looks like they won't go back with the threat of taking any points. Forceful method it is.' Eren pondered while falling through the trap door. 

'But-' He had noticed how Harry was given special treatment in the school. First-year quidditch privileges, special attention from all the professors and the headmasters and the punishment where he was sent to the Dark Forest, which was also called Forbidden Forest, for a reason. 

There was something Harry had that Dumbledore wanted, otherwise, the subtle manipulations did not make any sense.

'Might as well let them.'
