Chapter 9: Am I a wizard???

After the feast, all the students were taken to their respected dorms. The Slytherin dorm rooms were more lavish, neatly cleaned, the beds were soft as silk. The common room was decorated with many expensive decorations. It was as if he was in a five star hotel instead of a dorm room.

Liam was in awe of where he was about to spend seven years of his life. One thing stuck his mind 'Isn't this better than the Gryffindor dormitory.' Thinking it was something related to Slytherin student's parents funding the school. He didn't pay much attention to it.

He unpacked his language which was not much, and sat on his bed reading one of the texts. He now has the theory knowledge of Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of magic, defence against the Dark arts, Astronomy and Herbology. It was his fourth time reading the books.

He has the theory knowledge that a first year student should have but zero knowledge in practical using magic. Snape had told him that using magic outside Hogwarts can get him expelled, because of his reason he didn't even dare to use magic but now that he was in Hogwarts he would start practicing magic.

Liam wanted to make some friends, his room had two more beds meaning he would get to have two roommates. Even though all the first year students had come to the dormitory some students were still in the common room. After a while Liam's roommate came back, Liam had already seen their names from the name tags on their bags.

Their name was Mackie and Damian, as they entered the room they didn't seem happy to have Liam in the same room as them. Their expression showed everything in their mind. They were feeling disgustful.

'I already knew this would happen the moment I was sorted into Slytherin.' Liam tried to make a small talk but the two didn't seem to be interested in talking as well. Liam in the end gave up and slept.

In the morning when he woke up he saw that all his clothes were scattered on the ground also that they were covered in mud. He washed his clothes himself and hung to dry. Fortunately they didn't dirty his school uniform they had only dirtied the clothes he had brought with him.

'Since when did eleven year old kids become such malicious' thought Liam. Just because it was him that he wasn't angry, he is much older than he looked. Beating up eleven years old kids is not something he wanted to do nor is it something he can do with his current body. For some reason even though eating like a pig his body didn't develop much well. His daily meal, since his childhood was at least three times more. He just thought that he had an eating disorder. Currently at just the age of eleven years old he eats more than that of an average adult.

Liam got ready for his first class, it was a Transfiguration's class. He took his books and the map of the castle to properly guide himself to the class. Even though not having lost his way he arrived late to his class. Just as he reached the class room he saw the cat on the table jump and turn into an middle aged woman.

Ron exclaimed, "That was spectacular magic."

McGonagall taunted, "Thanks for the complement Mr. Weasley, I think it would have been better if I had turned one of you two into a watch at least then you would have arrived at the class on time. You too Mr. Gremory."She looked towards Liam.

As this happened Draco smiled, as if he knew that Liam would be late.

Liam didn't notice this he replied, "I was lost."

Prof. McGonagall sighed, "Please take your seats don't waste any more time of the class." she noticed that Liam had a map in his hands but she didn't think much of it cause even with a map people can get lost.

Thus began his first class.

Prof. McGonagall waved her hand, a big box slid in front of the class it opened up and small boxes flew from the box to each and every student's desk.

"We shall begin our first class, let's first understand what Transfiguration really is. Can anyone tell me what transfiguration is?"

Hermione enthusiastically raised her hand.

Prof. McGonagall looked towards the whole class, she saw no hands raised up, "Wait Mrs. Granger, let's ask the late comers first, Mr. Weasley" Ron looked down he clearly didn't know any answer, "Mr. Potter…" Harry was also the same as Ron now she looked at Liam, "Mr. Gremory"

Liam took a deep breath and answered, "Transfiguration is changing the nature of an object to our will."

Prof. McGonagall smiled, "Correct answer… Slytherin house add 5 points".

Then she walked towards the bog box from which the last remaining small box. She opened the box which had a small needle.

"Today I will teach you how to turn this needle into a ring, all of you take out your wand."

Then she demonstrated how to turn the needle into a ring she chanted, "Vertere Anulus" she waved her wand in a certain manner. Then the needle on the table floated, it's shaped changed, it was bending. The needle had turned into a ring.

"Now, take out your wands and start, the first student to achieve this result would earn his house 15 points."

Liam enthusiastically took out his wands out from his robe. He had practiced the wand waving hundreds of times. Now was his first time using magic, he waved his wand the perfect way and chanted "Vertere Anulus" to his surprise nothing happened.

He tried few times but still nothing happened. He thought everyone was struggling just the same as him. But when he looked at other students he saw whenever they chanted and waved their wands no matter the way they did it had some kind of effect on the needle. Even when the wave of the wand was totally wrong it caused some changes to the needle.

McGonagall saw Liam was struggling she walked towards him, hoping to solve his problem.

"Mr. Gremory what seems to be the problem." Asked McGonagall.

Liam explained exactly what was happening. She asked "Could you show me how are you performing the spell?"

Liam held his wand and waved his wand as perfectly as he could and chanted, "Vertere Anulus".

Prof. McGonagall who was looking at Liam perform the spell was noticed the wave to be perfect as well as the pronunciation was spot on she was looking forward to see the spell being performed perfectly but as Liam had performed the spell it didn't have any changes on the needle.

"Strange… so strange, it's not supposed to be this way. The spell should have worked." Prof. McGonagall was confused this was not something that should have happened, "Mr. Gremory I think you might have caught a strange disease. You should consult with Prof. Snape for this I will inform him about this matter you should go and pay him a visit."

Draco was laughed out loud, "Prof. that much effort would be wasted on him, he clearly doesn't belong with us." The rest of the Slytherin students laughed with him. Only Marie was not laughing, she looked towards Draco with resentment.

Liam couldn't refute what Draco had said he just listened to the loud laughs. In his previous life he had been bullied the same but at that time he retaliated and proved that he was not comparable to the scums which were bullying him. But at that time he was sure about his potential and hard work but this time it's different as being a wizard is not something which he can achieve through hard work.

Prof. McGonagall was furious she shouted, "Quite, Slytherin deducted 10 points. Mr. Malfoy I think you should at least treat the students of your house with respect."

Hermione felt sad for Liam she thought Liam was clearly not someone who should be a Slytherin.

After a while she was the one to properly perform the spell and earned her house 10 points.

The transfiguration class had just ended, the students were now moving towards the next class, it was the 'Potions' on the way to the class Hermione approached Liam.

"Liam don't worry you should go and talk with Prof. Snape he will surely be able to cure your disease."

Harry and Ron who were just behind them.

Hermione introduced Liam to Harry and Ron, "This is Liam" then she introduced Harry and Ron to Liam, "This is Harry and this is Ron".

Ron was confused as according to him all the students in Slytherin house are those noble rich pure blood wizards so how could Hermione know such a person, Out of curiosity he asked her, "Hermione how do you know Liam?"

"Oh that, Liam lives in the orphanage which is just next to where I live."

Ron was bewildered by this, "How did you get sorted into the house of evil …?" before he could say anything covered Ron's mouth Harry.

Liam then looked towards harry, "We have met before, do you remember."

Harry replied, "Yes I remember you were the kid with Prof. Snape at Gringotts"

Hermione had fastened her walking speed, "Let's go quickly, you don't want to be late to the potions class as well do you."
