Chapter 8: Getting sorted.

On the shore of the lake, Prof. McGonagall was standing looking towards the boats. She had noticed the Emergency flare launched by Hagrid. But when she arrived at the shore she saw nothing was wrong. Thinking that it was just a misunderstanding of some sort she decided to ask Hagrid later.

The boats reached the castle, all the students who has seen the 'Mermaid' interact with Liam flocked towards him forming a huge crowd and asking all sorts of questions.

"Don't do chit chat here, you have to get sorted into your houses first." The students who were already afraid of the half giant Hagrid followed all his words.

Daphne who was curious asked Liam after the crowd had dissipated, "Why did the mermaid approach you?" She was expecting a good answer from Liam. But Liam just shrugged and replied, "I don't know".

Marie who was also curious asked, "Why did she say that she was waiting for you?" Daphne who listened to Marie was confused, 'When did she say anything' she exclaimed, "Marie did you understand what she said, you know how to speak the language of mermaids".

Marie ignored Daphne and continuously stared at Liam like a wife asking her husband 'Who was that girl you were talking to?'

Liam was startled he replied as quick as he could, "I don't know why she said that. I am also confused"

Marie pouted and took Daphne with her angrily.

All the students were marching the stairs of the castle, at the end of the stairs Prof. McGonagall was waiting for all the first year students to gather. As all the first year students had gathered she explained few common things of Hogwarts, "In a while you will be meeting the other students but before that you all shall get sorted into your houses. The houses are Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Until you are here in your house is like your family, your good deeds will give your house points and breaking rules shall take away points from your house. At the end of the year the house with the most points shall win the house cup." As she was about to continue a toad started ribbiting.

A boy shouted, "Trevor!!!" he ran towards the toad and picked him up.

Daphne looked at Prof. McGonagall she had heard from her mother that the Animagus of Prof. McGonagall was a cat. 'In front of a woman who can turn into a cat'. What he said came to be true. Marie was also thinking the same. Hermione had not taken Liam seriously and she didn't even know that the animagus of Prof. McGonagall was a cat. Both Marie and Daphne looked towards Liam with a sense of mystery.

Prof. McGonagall continued, "In a while you shall be sorted." She went inside.

A blond haired boy with a smug face said while looking towards Harry, "So what they were saying on the train was true, Harry potter is in Hogwarts. He is Crabbe and this is Goyle. And I am Malfoy, Draco Malfoy"

Ron who was standing next to Harry giggled.

Draco who was offended by the giggle, stared maliciously towards Ron and sneered, "Are you laughing at my name, I don't even have to ask yours, red hair and an oversized robe, you must be a Weasley."

Draco who was getting cocky said, "Potter some wizarding families are better than others. You don't want to get involved with wrong sort of people." Then he looked towards Liam, "You also seem someone like us. Why don't you join us too?"

Marie who was sick of Draco's nonsense sneered, "Draco don't get ahead of yourself. You don't want anything to happen to you do you?" she threatened Draco.

Draco looked like a scared chicken and hopped back as if scared for his life. All the other students laughed at Draco's current situation.

Liam image of Marie 'A sweet innocent girl who can't even hurt a fly' broke at this current moment. He was even more curious,because he had never seen such a character.

'This is similar to what I know but a bit different, my presence has changed many thing I just need to not think I know everything. I need to use my knowledge of the future to its best extent. Maybe I can even stop Voldemort and before he resurrects and even prevent death of many characters. This is my life now it's not just a movie.'

Liam had made up his mind to create a better future than the one he has seen happen.

'But I shouldn't act suspicious. People may not believe me, and Dumbledore may even take wrong action towards me. He is, in the end a very cunning and calculative person.

Prof. McGonagall had come back She ordered, "Follow me".

A huge door opened all the students followed Prof. McGonagall inside the room, the roof of the room was enchanted to look as the open night sky. Candles were floating above the tables. There were four rows of tables, on which students of respective four houses were sitting.

In the front was a chair on which a hat was placed. The students gathered before the chair.

Prof. McGonagall announced, "Before we start Principal Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

Dumbledore stood up from his seat, "Let me tell you the rules before the year starts, new students pay attention under no circumstance you should enter the 'Forbidden Forest' and our caretaker Mr. filch would like to remind you the door on the left side of the 3rd floor is not allowed, if you want to stop yourself from dying a horrific death. Thank you"

With this said began the sorting of students.

Hermione Granger..."Gryffindor" Shouted the sorting hat…

Ron Weasley ... "Another Weasley...Gryffingdor"…

Harry potter….. " … Gryffindor"…

The trio got into the house they were supposed to. Liam was not waiting for his turn.

Marie Accalon ….. "There is no doubt about it… Slytherine"

Daphne Greengrass…. "Slytherine…"

Liam was wondering which house he will get sorted into. At last came his name.

Liam Gremory…

Liam walked towards the seat, he then sat down. The sorting hat was placed on his head.

"Hmm… I see bravery, I see a hunger for knowledge, I see loyalty… but where to put you…"

The sorting hat seemed to have had made a decision, "Gryf…." It stopped in middle just as it was about to speak…

Hermione who was sitting on the Gryffindor seat thought that Liam would be placed in Gryffindor, but she became disappointed as the sorting hat stopped.

"Deep down in you lies something… I know which house would be perfect for that… Slytherine."

Marie who was sitting on the Slytherine table smiled. Liam walked towards the Slytherine table and sat down.

After the feast in Dumbledore's office.

Hagrid looked towards Dumbledore with impatience, "Principal Dumbledore…"

"I know Hagrid." Dumbledore said before Hagrid could speak, "What happened in the lake was something even I didn't expect."

Hagrid calmed down, "Professor Dumbledore, What was that in the lake? I have never seen such a creature?"

Dumbledore calmly replied, "It was the spirit of the lake. For some reason she made an appearance. I currently don't know why but it may not be anything good."

"I don't know about that she didn't seem she would harm the students, she even caressed one of the student."

Dumbledore looked towards Hagrid with confusion, "Are you sure that was the case?"

"I saw it with my own eyes." Replied Hagrid.

"Interesting… interesting indeed" Dumbledore murmered.
