Chapter 23: The strange Black Book.

Liam was approached by many Slytherin students to know what happened and how they defeated the trolls. But Liam just said, "It was all luck".

Malfoy and his two goons were looking towards Liam with envy and disdain. They couldn't believe that they were able to defeat troll. Whatever he may have though it wasn't going to take the attention off from Liam.

After Dinner Liam went to Snape's office to drink to potion, as usual he asked him few question about potion making which Snape gave answers to.

To Liam it was very strange, he was sure that Snape would ask some questions but to his surprise Snape didn't ask any questions.

Snape was brewing a potion, fumes of the potion came out of the cauldron. Which had a very pungent smell. It was not rare to see Snape brew potions. All the days Liam came to Snape's office he saw Snape brewing many potions or reading stuff on potions. He never saw Snape being idle.

Liam almost puked because of the pungent smell but Snape had the same expression as he always had.

"Professor, how will I get the 50 galleons reward? I was wondering where I will store such an amount of money." Liam asked.

"Dumbledore had a vault given to you in Gringotts. The rewarded Galleons will be sent to your account. I will give you the key when Dumbledore gives it to me, and the remaining of your scholar ship fund will also be kept there. Next time you want anything just take it out of your vault." Snape answered.

Liam nodded and left for his dorm room.

Liam entered his room and lay down on the bed.

It was a very tiring day I was surrounded by a lot of students and was asked tons of questions it was very tiring. Who would have thought that just defeating a troll would change their view of me I wonder how people can change so fast?

One moment they hate me the next they start looking up to me. World is a strange place.

Liam got up and walked up to the mirror, I Look very different than I did before. He noticed that his previously thin body looked properly nourished now. His Brownish hair had started to look a bit darker. It was sign of getting healthy.

The potion Snape was giving him he didn't know what it was doing to him but it sure made his health better. But it didn't decrease his appetite for food. He still had to eat a lot of food.

He noticed that the potion had many other benefits as well. It improved his mental strength he was able to focus more and clearly.

Liam knew that his body was not normal he had some abnormalities, firstly he could cast more spells than a normal child of his age. Casting a spell takes a lot of mental strength and magical capability. Maintaining a single simple spell takes a lot of concentration. But for him it was never a problem.

Liam moved away from the mirror and sat on his desk. He kept looking at the black book he found in the library, no matter how many times he looked at that book he couldn't help but think that this book was not normal.

"A black book with golden frame, who would keep this book in the library and forget it there." He was puzzled.

After half an hour of staring at the book and trying many ways to see the mystery of the book, He concluded that the book was normal and thought to use it as a book to keep notes. No one came to claim the book so it was his book now.

He took out his pen and started writing his notes on herbs.

Liam had recently got interested in herbs, Cedric brought up the topic of herbs a lot as he was helping Prof. Sprout in the herb garden. He was also fascinated by those strange magical plants which seemed as they were creatures.

Liam wrote, 'Firemoss:' before he could write the description of the herb the description appeared in the book below it.

'Firemoss: A red-brown moss that, when activated by rubbing between the thumb and forefinger, releases wisps of smoke that create feelings of euphoria when inhaled and is used as a recreational drug. Firemoss is highly addictive, limiting its medicinal use, though it is sometimes used to reduce cranial swelling and offer pain relief.'

Liam looked at the written information in daze, "This book , what is this book?"
