Chapter 17: Tina Vs The Dark Wizards

A Few Hours Earlier...

"How many papers do I have to sign?", Tina murmured to herself while glancing at the big stack of papers left to sign.

Shaking her head in defeat, she went back to her work.

Her office was huge and was appropriately equipped for the Head of the Auror Department at MACUSA.

Big windows, premium quality desks, shelves full of books on various topics, and shiny lamps...

But she was too preoccupied with her work to properly enjoy her newly improved office.

'What's this?', she thought while narrowing her eyes on a document.

She opened it and her brown eyes followed quickly from word to word as she read it with full concentration.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Come in!", Tina said loudly, her eyes still focused on the document booklet.

The door opened and a pair of heels walked to her desk.

"Mrs. Scamander... I'm sorry to be interrupting you, but I have discovered something suspicious.", A delicate female voice said.

Tina tore her eyes away from the document and she saw one of her juniors who was specifically investigating the percentage of Dark Arts activity across New York City standing before her with a nervous expression.

"It's perfectly fine.", Tina smiled at her and asked, "What is this about?"

"The Department had predicted that the percentage of the activity of Dark Arts would decrease after Grindelwald lost the election. However, instead of decreasing, there has been an upward rise in the percentage of Dark Arts.", The woman said straight to the point. That's what Tinnie generally liked about her. Whatever she had to say, she was saying straight to the point, unlike most of her juniors who were looking more for promotions. But this... Tinnie didn't like it. At all.

Her eyes glaring unbelievably, she asked, "How is this possible? Since Grindelwald has been on the run for a bit while now the rate should decrease instead of increase."

"Madam, this is not only true for New York but across the whole country. If not, the whole world."

 Tinnie sighed. As if she wasn't busy enough... now she also had to deal with this.

"This is truly bizarre. Do you have any information about a secret gathering here, in New York?", Tina asked the woman.

The junior's eyes brightened and she replied eagerly, "Yes, madam. There is a gathering tonight. We have detected some suspicious foreigners passing through our border and we believe they are about to meet up. Tonight."

"Good. Can you please send me the details over owl?", Tina asked her with a serious expression.

Looking at Tina's serious face, the woman knew that Tina had decided to deal with this as soon as possible. So, she replied, "Of course, Madam."

Mustering up courage, she said, "I-I wanted to come with you to help..."

However, Tina momentarily shook her head and said without being moved by her junior's pleading eyes, "No. I will deal with this on my own. I don't want anybody else to engage. It's too dangerous."

The junior's shoulders hunched over, but she did not dare to try to change Tina's mind.

One of the things Tina was most well known for was her stubbornness.

"As you wish, madam.", the junior smiled awkwardly and turned around. She walked to the door and closed it behind her.

The Present

"Expeliarmus!"

The men in the circle started exclaiming:

"Stupify!"

"Avada Kedavra!"

Momentarily stunned, Tinnie disapparated and apparated quickly at a safe distance from them. For now.

The men quickly applied protective charms around themselves before the curses intended for Tina ricocheted and killed all of them.

"Stupify!", Tinnie highered her wand towards the second dark wizard.

BANG

Tina's spell hit the second dark wizard and his body flew across and slammed into a wall.

THUD

The paralyzed body of the second dark wizard slid down the wall slowly.

Tina smiled in satisfaction while looking at the second dark wizard and thought, 'Two down! Three more to go!'

"Avada Kedavra!", the third wizard pointed his wand and shouted at Tina.

Tina grew alarmed as she saw the incoming killing curse and quickly disapparated away, successfully dodging it.

Now, somewhat away from the three dark wizards, she pointed her wand at the one who tried to kill her and exclaimed, "Stupify!"

BANG

The third wizard was momentarily stunned by her dodging the killing curse and didn't quickly block her spell, causing him to fly away a couple of meters back with his body now paralyzed.

"It's just you now!", Tina stared at the dark wizard and said with a vicious smile.

The fourth wizard exclaimed:

"Avada Kedavra!"

But Tinnie was quicker:

"Expeliarmus!"

The wizard's wand flew into her open palm and now all she had to say, "Stupify!"

BANG

And, the fourth wizard's body flew away.

Satisfied, Tinnie smiled and said, "I told you to not underestimate me."

But she still had one left to take care of.

"Stupify!", she turned around and exclaimed towards the leader of the group, who, fortunately enough for her, was too distracted by the fall of his companions to react.

BANG

His body was the last to fly.

Left standing alone in the room, Tina walked towards the body of the leader and took his wand from his hand. Then, she lifted the spell and the man's body started moving.

"I want to know one thing.", Tina stood above him and grabbed his collar.

 "Who is this The One Who Was Born In Darkness everybody is talking about?", She asked angrily and the grip on his collar tightened.

The leader smiled fanatically without caring for the wand at his neck and said, "He is everything! He is One and One is Him! He... is unlike any other person you've ever seen in your pathetic life. For he would cover the world in darkness once again."
