The white one-piece was a simple sundress, designed by one of the most famous designers in the fashion industry. From afar, it looked like a simple, bright, and sparkly spring dress, but that was far from what it truly was. The thin shoulder straps were made of pure rhodium and studded with all diamonds aligned on each strap. Not just the straps though, the entire dress was lined and decorated with rhodium to give off a bright reflection from the sun. How much is rhodium? The current market puts it at about $2,100 per ounce, where platinum sits around $800. Now, the fabric used for the dress was a special silk and wool combination, both from Vucana sheep. These two fabrics range from $1,800 to $3,000 a yard; for reference, a scarf costs around $20,000. The market value for this dress was placed at 2.2 million dollars. It was indeed one of a kind.
Isabelle wore this very dress to Biscord High, on the first day of school. This was her second year attending this high school, so she had no business going to the freshmen orientation. But she wanted to go there anyway. She had hopes of finding the boy that helped her the other day at the park.
As she excitedly walked through Biscord High's main entrance, almost everyone around stopped in their tracks to stare at her. Everyone knew who she was, but no one dared to approach her. It was partially due to her security detail, but we all know that's not the real reason why… They could only look from afar and adore her.
In her head, she was thinking all sorts of things: "What should I say to him If I see him? Will he recognize me? Does he even remember?"
BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM.
Her heart raced, and her face flushed red. Seconds later, she felt as if butterflies were flying all around in her stomach.
"What is this feeling?" she thought, "Am I embarrassed? The great Isabelle Royale? Me? Feeling embarrassed?"
"Or am I excited? Excited? Excited for what?"
"Maybe I'm nervous? But what am I nervous about?"
"Is it him? Is it because I'm going to see him? Is he the one making me feel this way?"
BADUM-BADUM-BADUM-BADUM-BADUM-BADUM-BADUM
Her heart raced even faster at the thought of him.
She kept on walking while lost in her thoughts with a smile on her face. Before she realized, she had arrived at the gymnasium.
BUMP
She ran into something hard and fell back onto her buttocks. Her sunglasses dropped to the ground, and her right hand landed on it while she attempted to break her fall with both her hands. Her mind went blank for a second before anger erupted within her like a volcano.
"Are you ok?" a voice asked.
She realized it wasn't a thing that she ran into; it was a person. This person tried to apologize and help her up to her feet, but her bodyguards stopped him. They came swooping in and clearing the crowd.
When she got on her feet, she started screaming at him.
He offered to pay for the dress and the amount that she announced destroyed his mentality.
'How could a dress cost so much?! My life is over…' Jack thought.
She fell onto the floor in front of everyone. Her new dress was dirtied, and her sunglasses were broken. Her face flushed red again, but it wasn't because of the same feeling as before. Isabelle felt embarrassed to the max, and she saw red.
She was so startled and angry that she didn't recognize the boy in front of her, and Jack was so shocked by the price that he didn't recognize her either.
'I've just moved to the city and spent all of my money on rent. I haven't gotten a job yet, and now I'm already slammed with a huge debt… ' Jack thought, with his mind in utter despair.
"I'll work it off to pay for the dress!" Jack begged.
"You think you can just work it off to pay for this dress?!" Isabelle screamed.
"Please! I'll do anything!"
"You'll do anything? Who do you think you are? Who do you think I am? I don't need anything from the likes of you!" Isabelle claimed as she turned her head and crossed her arms.
Then, Jack got on to his knees. The most shameful act a man could do. With an ugly frown on his face, he continued to beg.
Suddenly, a lightbulb lit up in Isabelle's mind.
She thought that of employing him to find the boy, she met at the park.
'What a great idea! Yes, yes. I won't have to embarrass myself like today if I have someone else find him for me!' Isabelle thought.
"Get up, peasant. I do have something for you to do for me. If you complete this task, I'll clear this debt. It's just a dress after all," Isabelle said.
Jack quickly got up and thanked her, "Thank you, miss! I may not look it, but I'm a hard worker! I won't let you down!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever... Let's go!" she said.
She turned to the entrance and started walking. Isabelle's thoughts continued, 'Oh my god! How unsightly! I hope 'he' didn't see what happened!'
BA-DUM, BA-DUM, BA-DUM
Her heart started racing again. Her cheeks flushed red, and she held her face with both hands to hide it, as she walked out of the gymnasium.
