You Did Your Best
Kaiju yelled, spreading his hands to his sides. Thousands of monsters ran under his feet, filling the streets of the city.
BOOM BOOM
The battleship did not stop firing. The streets of the city turned into a war zone as the battleship tried to reduce the number of White Thorns. Each gun of the ship fired at its part of the city, destroying everything around it. But everything was in vain, there were too many enemies, and they gradually filled the city.
No one knew if the White Thorns would be able to break into the underground vaults, but it was certain that people would suffer in this city. People in underground storages will be able to live for about a month. They don't have enough food and water. But even in a month it will be difficult to liberate this city.
"This is a disaster! We failed this city." The marshal spoke these words as he watched destruction and fires spread throughout the city.
"Sir, we had no way of knowing that the White Thorns would attack as well. We have no way to detect them. Apparently, this swarm came here fleeing from South America. Torterra drove them out of there and they decided to attack from the ocean." Mr. Choi said. He was sitting nearby at his workplace.
"We really need new satellites. They have changed their tactics and can now attack anywhere in the world." The new satellites were ready and waiting for Torterra to launch them into space. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long.
In war, the enemy always changes his strategy. For every human action, the aliens came up with a countermeasure. These games of cat and mouse were felt most strongly now. The closer the time of closing the portal approached, the more resourceful the enemy became. They even created a Kaiju capable of shooting a laser beam and destroyed the wall.
Marshal was comforted by the fact that people were always one step ahead in this game. The constant, unsuccessful attempts by aliens to destroy human cities said that humanity was ahead, but now humanity was experiencing defeat in this battle.
"How far are the military from the city?" Marshal asked.
"They are an hour away from the city, but the problem is that the heavy equipment was evacuated and it takes all day to get it back."
It was a security protocol for the military. Many military bases are built either in or near cities. This was done in order to make it easier to protect cities. But when the city was attacked by the Kaiju, then according to protocol, all military equipment was evacuated deeper into the continent. This technique was useless against the Kaiju, but it was still very expensive, the Kaiju couldn't be allowed to destroy the technique.
Unfortunately, these protocols were written before the White Thorns appeared in the world.
"Sir. Torterra returns to his island. Maybe we should ask him for help?" Mr. Choi asked.
"How will he help us? He can only burn the city with the White Thorns and with the people. We will have to clear the city with the help of soldiers. It will be a tough and bloody fight."
"He will be able to kill the Kaiju."
"We will kill Kaiju ourselves. Torterra needs to fly into space quickly." With that, Marshal pressed a button on the table to contact Obsidian Fury, "Are you in firing position?"
"Yes. We are ready to shoot!"
"Fire!"
Obsidian Fury stood on the wall. The wall was wide enough for the robot to stand on top of. Standing on the wall, the twin sisters could clearly see Insectokaiju. Just as the Kaiju was about to enter the city and start destroying the houses, a cylindrical projectile flew silently towards him.
SKREEEE
In an instant, the projectile pierced through the Kaiju's armor and sank into the middle.
BOOOM
A loud explosion rang out inside the Kaiju. He screamed in pain as his right arm fell to the ground along with his shoulder. The force of the explosion caused Insectokaiju to stagger and fall onto a nearby building, destroying it.
Debris fell to the ground, raising a cloud of dust. Kaiju blood covered the street and continued to ooze from his massive wound.
The Kaiju screamed in pain and flailed his arm trying to get up. He did not die from the first shot, but was badly wounded. Out of anger, he hit a nearby building and smashed it into pieces.
"He is still alive. Again!" Marshal ordered. But even without his team, Obsidian Fury had already started reloading his sniper rifle.
The Kaiju looked in the direction he was being shot from and screamed when he saw Jaeger there.
UUAARRRRRRR
Blue blood flowed from his wounds and streams of blue toxin even flowed from under his face armor. The White Spikes that were around the Kaiju stopped and turned their heads towards the Jaeger. They ran at full speed in that direction. The entire swarm of monsters headed towards the Jaeger, ready to tear the robot to pieces.
"They run to you. You have no weapons to fight them. Finish it and run away from there."
"Sir. We have grenades, we can significantly reduce their number, we can lure them out of the city!" The twin sisters did not want to give up this city. They were startled at first when they saw the swarm running towards them, but they quickly saw an opportunity. It was a chance they could take.
"This is too dangerous. Even if one of them hits the middle of a Jaeger, you die and we lose another Jaeger today! I cannot allow this. Shoot and run!" Marshall remembered Yancy and Raleigh back when they were piloting together. They always did not listen to him in such situations.
"We have a plan. We can save this city!" Having said this, the sisters took aim once more for a shot. Kaiju noticed this and quickly ran into the city, taking cover with the buildings. Unfortunately for him, sisters were very good at it.
Taking aim, the sisters waited for the right moment. They calculated everything from wind and gravity. Although these indicators were not very important for a magnetic cannon, but the Kaiju was quite far away and at such a distance these things became important.
Just as Kaiju walked between the buildings, the Obsidian Fury fired a shot.

The projectile quickly broke the speed of sound and flew towards the alien beast. A black cylindrical projectile flew straight between the buildings and hit the Kaiju in the back.

Before Insectokaiju could scream, it was torn to pieces. These shells were not simple cylinders with explosives. It was a high-tech device. Each shot cost as much as a jet fighter. If it was just a heavy cylinder, then it would have punched through the Kaiju without dealing critical damage.
These shells were equipped with sophisticated sensors that told them when to explode. These sensors were the most expensive part, because at such a speed of flight of the projectile, a supercomputer was needed to react in time.
It was only when Obsidian Fury fired at Torterra that these sensors malfunctioned. This was because the projectile could not penetrate his armor completely and stuck without entering the middle. This resulted in a pause between the hit and the explosion.
This Kaiju didn't stand a chance against this weapon. The accurate hit tore his body apart and scattered pieces of his body all over the street, staining everything blue.
If the aliens hadn't used mind-altering witches in this attack, then this battle would have ended quickly. Unfortunately, the aliens had enough ideas to make life difficult for people.
GGREEEE
A chorus of screams echoed through the city as the White Thorns continued to run towards the Jaeger. Those monsters that were closest to the Kaiju turned around and attacked his corpse. They quickly began to tear it apart and eat it. They acted like hungry beasts, tearing the Kaiju corpse to shreds.
"Run away from there! You have done your job, the soldiers will do the rest." Marshal tried to persuade the sisters, but he felt that they would not listen to him. He also couldn't turn off their Jaeger, because he understood that this was the right thing to do and no threats could dissuade the sisters from this idea.
The White Spikes ran along the wall towards the Jaeger. They moved like a river of flesh destroying small houses on their way. It was just what the sisters wanted from them. The Jaeger climbed down from the wall and stood in the path of the swarm, waiting for the right moment.
The White Thorns could not climb the wall. More precisely, they could, but it was very difficult and long. No matter what anyone thought, climbing concrete walls with the help of claws was very difficult. That's why Jaeger climbed down from the wall.
The sisters took out some grenades and waited. They were on the edge of the city and they had time to prepare. When the swarm was already near Jaeger, they threw a grenade. A few grenades in total. One is very far in the tail of the swarm, the other is mediocre and the last one is right in front of them. As soon as Jaeger threw these grenades, he quickly jumped and, holding on to the top of the wall with one hand, jumped over it and ended up on the other side of the wall.

Jaeger's feet fell into the ocean water on the other side of the wall and the next moment there were three loud explosions.

The wall immediately shook as three huge grenades exploded near it. The blue fire covered everything around together. Unfortunately, country houses were destroyed. The wall cracked with the force of the impact and bowed in the area where the explosion rang out.
"BEEP BEEP BEEP. The integrity of the hull is violated!" The twin sisters heard the voice of artificial intelligence. They immediately checked the system and found that the integrity of the hull was broken in the legs. Lowering their heads, they saw a swarm of White Thorns, under the water, tearing at their legs.
They jumped over the wall and ended up in the ocean. Although they killed a lot of White Thorns with grenades, they did not think that there were still many of them in the ocean.
"Excuse me, sir. We failed. The White Thorns penetrated the middle." The sisters wanted to cry. They felt useless in this struggle. All they did was fire a few shots, they couldn't defend the city.
"Stay where you are. You will be picked up in a minute." Marshal answered. He ordered the plane to pick up the pilots. They could get out of Jaeger and then the plane could pick them up. "You saved many soldiers by luring the White Thorns to you, leave the rest to them." Every monster killed is a potentially saved soldier.
