You Can't Run Away From Me!

POV: Raleigh

"Is this another Kaiju? Where is the help you were talking about? Is that the first Kaiju category 4? What size is it?" Panicking, we immediately began to bombard the command center with questions.

"Calm down, it's Torterra!" Marshal answered us.

The giant Titan, more than 100 meters high, approached the shore and stopped. His whole body screamed of the power that was chained in him. His muscles seemed to be made of steel, and his armor was filled with spikes in many places. He was very heavy, and his feet sank many meters into the sand with each step. A mouth full of teeth, and his eyes, which glared at the Kaiju with anger, could frighten any pilot. No Jaeger could fight against this creature.

"He's definitely on our side?" I could not help doubting the reality. Over the years, this monster traveled the world, and my brother and I had to constantly fight against the Kaiju. This is the first time we've seen Torterra with our own eyes, and we couldn't believe that this aggressive-looking creature was human-friendly.

RRRROOOAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!

Torterra growled. The force of the shock wave blew out windows in the buildings and created a strong gust of wind that bent the trees in front of it. It was the cry of the master of the ocean, who was very angry and ready to tear his enemy apart.

"What should we do? Just watch?" I looked at Yancy and asked him.

"I don't know. Torterra doesn't look fast, so maybe the Kaiju will run away from him as well as from us." My brother answered me.

POV: Torterra

After the difficult and slow crossing of the Panama Canal, I soon felt the presence of the Kaiju. Harry's death and the annoying journey through a land filled with roads, buildings and power lines completely blew me away. I had no more patience for this Kaiju.

I growled at him just out of anger. The kaiju snarled back at me with much less force, saying it didn't want to accept the challenge.

GGRRRRR

He did not run to fight, but simply looked at me from the opposite side of the city. After a pause, he, as if mocking me, simply continued to jump from the mountain to the city. His jumps were graceful and fast. He enjoyed the destruction and being faster than me.

I looked at Jaeger who was getting to his feet. Jaeger was familiar to me from history. I forgot his name, but it was definitely the two brothers the main characters of this war. If I see him, it means that the main character's brother is still alive. "Great, that means the attack on Alaska hasn't happened yet." I thought.

"Now what do I do with this Kaiju?" It was necessary to finish the duel faster, because the city was already badly damaged, but I still did not want to enter the city.

POV: Raleigh

We rose to our feet and looked around the city. The Kaiju continued to jump around the city, sometimes climbing the mountains on the edge of the city and jumping from them into the city to cause more destruction. He seemed to be playing with people's lives and mocking us.

We looked at Torterra and saw him just standing on the shore doing nothing. This puzzled us a lot. Why doesn't he go to the city and join the fight?

"Maybe he wants us to lure him to the ocean?" I asked my brother.

"We can try."

We ran towards the Kaiju, avoiding the houses. Our Jaeger could walk a whole block in a few steps with wide steps. Sometimes we just jump over buildings. Cracks formed on the ground from every step, and the walls of buildings shook from earthquakes.

While we were running towards the Kaiju, we weren't looking at Torterra anymore, so we didn't notice what he was doing. The cracks between the armor began to glow on his chest. The light was not strong and had a golden hue. This light gradually began to rise to Torterra's neck, resembling a web of veins. Golden neon veins moved further up the throat until they reached the mouth and stopped there.

Torterra stood there looking at the Kaiju with narrowed eyes. He charged his flame-plasma cannon and held the heat in his mouth without opening it. He seemed to be waiting for the right moment. Golden light shone from the gaps between his teeth. After a moment, light came from his chest again and the same streaks of light went to his mouth. Then again and again, each time charging was accelerated. With each charge of his fiery breath, the light in his mouth grew larger and more concentrated.

Torterra waited for the right moment and opened a small gap in his mouth. A highly concentrated golden beam burst out of this gap, heading towards the Kaiju at great speed.

My brother and I ran to Kaiju. He looked at us and started running away from us. This Dog moved around the city, sometimes avoiding buildings and sometimes stepping on them to gain speed and get away from us.

"Damn it! He is running away again, we will never catch up with him. Loading our plasma cannon, maybe we can hurt him and slow him down," my brother told me. We immediately started loading our cannon. We kept running and at some point the Kaiju looked first at us and then at Torterra. Although there was no emotion visible on his face, you could somehow tell that his mood had changed. He turned sharply to the right and started running towards the mountains.

"He is fleeing deep into the continent. Stop him," Marshal shouted over the communicator.

We didn't want to let him go either. We started running faster, not paying attention to the buildings below us. The Kaiju had already started climbing the mountain. If he climbs over the mountain, we won't get him.

Our Jaeger raised his hand with a cannon. We aimed and fired at the Kaiju. We weren't close enough to do any serious damage, but we hoped we could at least hurt him.

PPPPRRRRRRR

As we fired, a strong flash of light blinded us. We felt a burning sensation on our left hand, as if it had been melted.

AAAAHHHHH

We screamed in pain and stopped running towards the Kaiju and jumped to the side.

When our eyes cleared, we raised our heads to see what had happened. In front of us lay a dead Kaiju with a large hole in its back. The Kaiju went down sluggishly the mountain towards the city, destroying several buildings in the process. Smoke was coming out of the hole in his back, the hole was straight through.

Looking up, we saw the mountain Kaiju was trying to climb. "Oho! I didn't know our cannon could do something like that!" I commented on what I saw. Instead of the top of the mountain range, there was a large molten hole. The edge of the opening was red from the molten earth, and the trees around it were burning.

"I don't think it was us, bro," Yancy told me. "Raleigh, look at Torterra."

We turned Gipsy towards the ocean shore and saw Torterra standing there. Smoke was coming out of his mouth and he looked very angry. All the way from him to the Kaiju was smoking. The leaves were twisted and dry, as if they had been near a fire.

POV: Torterra

Jaeger looked at me for a whole minute without looking away. He was definitely shocked. To be honest, I'm shocked too, but considering I put a lot of energy into this attack and spent a lot of time on it, a lesser result would have disappointed me.

Now I have to pick up this Kaiju for lunch. Slowly I walked through the city. There were many destroyed houses, and I did not see people anywhere. It seems that people are trained in proper behavior during emergency situations. It's good, and judging by the fact that there's not a single person here, the government is doing a better job of it than in the movie.

In the movie, even though they know that the Kaiju is coming to the city soon, for some reason people still only evacuate when he starts destroying the city. Maybe it was just filmed for drama. Although if it was a densely populated city with skyscrapers, then it would be impossible to evacuate it even in a few days.

Approaching the Kaiju's body, I picked it up and threw it on the nearby mountain. It was impossible to drag him into the ocean. While I was sailing here, I saw blue stains of toxic blood on some shores, even pools of blood floating in the middle of the ocean, like oil slicks. They tried to gather it by ships and clean the ocean, but at first glance you could tell that the process was very slow. It was better to eat this Kaiju here.

I sat down next to the Kaiju and bit him, tearing off a piece and swallowing it. I hadn't eaten anything in a long time and I was a little hungry.

"Do you know how much this Kaiju's blood is worth?! Can you give us time to collect blood from him?" Jaeger told me through sign language. After it became known that Mr. Harry was able to teach Torterra to sign language, all the Jaeger pilots were also taught to sign language.

I looked at him and narrowed my eyes. "Is he kidding me?" I thought. I knew what these brothers were like, but I still couldn't tell if he just wanted to talk or if he really meant it to me.

I did not answer him. I didn't see the point in joking with him. I just looked at him like he was a fool. After a minute, he simply turned and walked away from me. Apparently, he realized his mistake and went to report on the situation in the city.
