The boy woke up as a giant turtle in the Pacific Rim. This is a story about a guy with a good moral compass. If you want to read how MC destroys cities and sinks ships, then this fanfic is not for you. There will be no magical transformation back into a human. This is my first fanfic. English is not my native language, so I used a translator. In the first chapters, I used GPT for some paragraphs of text, but the result is not satisfactory. Then everything is manual work. I do not own the rights to the universe and characters in this story.
"I am lost!" those words echoed tumultuously in my mind after two days of swimming in the endless ocean. Initially, I tried to stay close to the shore, follow landmarks, and not venture too far. But after some time, the land disappeared from my sight, and I faced the danger of being trapped in the vastness of the ocean for many years. That's what I thought. And the fact that I had become a monster didn't make me immune to something as silly as getting lost. How did Godzilla even travel the world? It seemed like he knew exactly where to go.
Navigation became a great challenge for me as I got lost in the midst of this boundless expanse. The absence of landmarks and signs on the horizon left me without guidance. I was adrift in the ocean, with almost no means of orienting myself.
My mind struggled with how to find my way back and figure out what world I ended up in after my transformation, or what had happened to me. But around me, there was only endless water—above me, beneath me, on all sides. Everything looked the same, and what could have been a point of reference was obscured by clouds.
Drawing upon every bit of navigation knowledge I possessed, I tried to determine my way back. Stars, the sun, the wind—everything became the subject of my analysis. But all I could do was make educated guesses. I felt small and powerless in the face of nature. It was fortunate that I didn't feel hunger or thirst. I also didn't feel the need for oxygen underwater. I wasn't sure how that worked, but I didn't complain.
The water surrounding me flooded all my thoughts, leaving little room for answers. I was alone with my fears and an unfamiliar world. Lost among the waves, I searched for a way back, yet the water remained silent, not pointing to any path that could lead me back to the shore.
In my journey, I encountered numerous marine creatures, including whales and sharks. Dolphins playfully frolicked alongside me, using the waves I created for their tricks and surfing. It emphasized that I was indeed in the ocean.
At one point, I decided to taste shark meat. With my enormous jaws, it wasn't difficult to swiftly capture it. However, after the first bite of raw flesh, I became concerned. I started worrying about potential parasites in the food and how it might affect my health. Though these were just thoughts, I convinced myself that it was merely sushi from a Japanese restaurant and managed to swallow the shark whole. The taste was decent, indicating that I wasn't a herbivorous creature. Nevertheless, one shark was enough for me; it was merely an experiment, and I decided not to eat anyone else.
Diving to the ocean floor, I had no idea how deep I descended, but it was quite dark there. Despite the darkness, I was amazed by how clearly I could see the ocean floor. My eyes were well adapted to the underwater environment, which pleased me. I swam through an oceanic desert where nothing existed except silt and rocks. Occasionally, I encountered strange creatures I had never heard of in my previous life. I spent approximately a day there, but it quickly became monotonous. Everywhere was dark and silent. I rarely came across anything interesting, although I stumbled upon an old ship at one point. However, it was completely covered in something, making it nearly impossible to discern the details. The only thing I understood was that the ship was metallic.
While spending a few more days in the oceanic expanses, Gamera decided to take navigation seriously. As a last resort, he could try to find a ship and follow it, although he wasn't particularly fond of that idea. He understood that almost all ships were equipped with sonars, so he couldn't observe unnoticed. However, his main task was to determine which world he had ended up in, and for that, he needed to observe humans.
"Maybe I'm doing something wrong." He began contemplating possible ways in which other Godzilla-like monsters could locate each other across the world. Did they use certain sources of radiation for orientation? Could he possibly use something similar?
Gamera remembered that Godzilla and other monsters emitted radiation. He started wondering if he could somehow sense radiation in the atmosphere. Perhaps it had a distinct smell or left a sensation on the skin. He focused, trying to perceive any changes in the surrounding environment, but he didn't hear or notice anything like that. "But how did they find radioactive feeding grounds?"
His concentration efforts were not in vain as his nose suddenly came to life. For a moment, he felt an explosion of a palette of scents that amazed his senses. Various aromas filled his nasal cavities, creating a vivid picture with distinct notes.
Gamera speculated that such a stench could only emanate from cities. "Finally, something!" he thought, confidently swimming in the direction from which he sensed the smell. He swam closer, and the aroma grew stronger and more distinct. The closer he got, the more apparent it became that he was approaching a civilized area.
Gamera felt a sense of hope and curiosity because finding a city meant encountering humans and the opportunity to learn more about the world he found himself in. He moved faster, filled with newfound energy and a keen desire to discover what awaited him ahead.
