Monsters

It was still a bit of time until 12 in Venia village. Today Claude was staying home and was reading the species encyclopaedia.

Even though it has been so much time and Claude had already read the species encyclopaedia completely he still likes to read about the creatures and races which in his past world were myths.

Claude always thought of this that if such creatures exist in this world then how are they considered myths in his own world. Do these creatures exist in his past world ? If yes then did they come from this world ? Because at the very least their names should be different but their names are the same and except for a few changes they have entirely similar descriptions as in his world.

It seems like the species encyclopaedia Ares has doesn't entirely cover all the races because beast and monsters have numerous races which are not written in this book.

Claude was sitting on his table. His left hand was on the table supporting his head while his right hand was on the page of the book, ready to turn it. Even though he looked sluggish and dizzy, if you have seen through a girl's eyes she would only have one thought - Dreamy!!

Claude, with his enhanced mana senses sensed someone running towards his room. He recognised the mana core and waited for the person to come into his room. And as expected…..

BAM

….the door was abruptly and with greater strength opened but Claude didn't move an inch as if he was used to this crude behaviour.

When he looked towards the direction of the door he saw Eren huffing. This piqued Claude's interest as with Eren being a master rank running from village to the house requires barely 5 minutes, unless he used mana and came even faster, reaching the house before 5 minutes. What could be the reason Eren was in such urgency to meet him that he even used mana.

" The Monsters...huff….they have arrived near the village…." Eren said, still gasping for air.

When Claude heard this he didn't waste a single minute regenerating Eren's mana through his breathing technique. He jumped out of the window along with Eren and started following him.

" Explain the situation." Claude said to Eren.

" I don't know much but one of the merchants came back to the village saying that he had seen monsters approaching the village. Father sended one of his best scouts to check and he told him that they sure are approaching the village as there is nothing else except our village." Eren explained while running.

Claude understood the situation. It seems like these monsters are going to attack the village to loot it. When Eren recognised this he came towards him because any help in such a situation is a good thing.

After a few minutes they finally reached the village and went towards the direction where soldiers were gathered. They saw that the soldiers were already in their battle stance.

Claude and Eren went towards Ares's direction and stood beside him on the frontlines. Ares was looking in a particular direction as if waiting for someone.

Claude and Eren looked at the direction Ares was staring and they finally saw the Monsters.

They looked much taller than humans around 8 feet ( 243.8 cm). They had bulky and big muscles. They didn't have much different faces and the most unique thing about them was that they had tusks coming out from their lower jaw. They had Navy Blue coloured skin which looked quite rough. The had human like eyes except that the sclera and the pupil were of yellow colour.

Except for a few individuals everyone else were wearing makeshift clothes from animal furs. They carried weapons made of stones which were either spears or axes. All in all they looked quite rough and savage.

" What are they ?" Eren asked to Claude.

" Orcs " Claude replied.

" Any other information ?" When Eren asked this every soldier even a few master ranks looked at Claude. After all everyone knew how much of a book worm Claude was.

" Orcs, a race classified in the monster species. They require only 5 to 8 years to grow into a complete adults and reach maturity. They have a life span of 30 to 40 years but most of them die before reaching that age." Claude said.

" Why ?" Eren asked why they die before reaching the end of their age.

" They are called as the warrior race but we humans in particular called them as the cursed ones because their insatiable urge of fight. They don't fight like us to grow stronger they fight to feel thrilled and to satisfy their craving. You can also call them as naturally born rankers because unlike us they don't need a guide to breakthrough ranks they subconsciously become rankers." He continued.

" Most of the monsters are classified in ranks because most of the races in the Monsters are more combat oriented and their are hardly anyone with magical talent is born in them but even one of them who can use magic can create destruction of large amount. They are also classified with other species hierarchy depending on their race. Orcs are classified according to beasts."

" So what is the rank and tier of orcs." Eren asked his blood boiling to fight when he heard they are natural born warriors.

" They are mandatory tier 3 beasts. While rank is something they can improve just like us. If you want to know what is the ranks of the orcs in front of us then. Everyone is intermediate rank with a 10 or so master rank, 2 saint ranks and one sage rank." When Claude said their ranks, everyone understood why they are called natural warriors and rankers.

The ten or so master rank were weilding iron weapons. The two saint ranks were wearing leather armor with iron weapons and the one who seemed to be their leader and the sage rank was wearing a iron chest plate and had beast furred cloak covering his body like a king's cape.
