49 The Orcs
" But it's weird." Claude said, gathering everyone's attention.
" What is ?" Eren asked.
" Orcs are a warmonger race. Even if they don't have any hatred or problems with humans, they will attack us anyway because they don't need a reason to attack us." Claude continued.
" Then why are the members of such a race standing right in front of us, like they are also observing us but what do they want?" Claude asked himself.
Well, what Claude said is true. Most of the monster races originate from the mixture of spirit species and beast species. Orcs in particular originated from the Giants and demons. It's like even their ancestors used to take pleasures from war and battles. That's why the way these orcs are behaving is kind of weird unless...
Something clicked in Claude's mind. He put down his swords and his small dagger he is always carrying around and said :-
" I am going to talk to them."
Hearing Claude everyone looked at Claude with widened eyes in shock. After all, only an insane person would try to talk with monsters after knowing about them.
" Brother, did you fall on your head while coming here ?" Eren asked, worried. His question might have seemed like a joke but no one laughed as they were also wondering that did Claude hit his head or something.
" My brain works faster than yours and my instincts were never wrong before this. That's why just wait and watch." Claude replied to his brother.
" Dad, are you not going to stop him?" Eren asked Ares.
" Hehe, as if he has ever listened to anyone when he makes up his mind. Just don't do anything reckless because I won't be able to face Elen in the afterlife if anything happened to her precious sons." Ares chuckled and replied. The last part might seem insensitive but when Claude heard it he subconsciously became cautious. Ares knew how both of his sons were, when they made up their minds even death wouldn't be able to stop them. Ares smiled when he remembered the words of Ellen ' It is your fault, they take after you in that part.'
Claude after putting his sword and dagger down and showing his hands up to the leader of the orcs slowly started walking towards their tribe. He stopped at the centre, between the two groups : the soldiers and the tribes.
As if the leader of the orc tribe understood something he also kept his great sword and other weapons and started walking towards Claude. After a few seconds he stood directly in front of Claude.
The orc leader was the tallest even in the tribe with a towering height of 9'4( 286.5 cm). He had a long scar on his left eye. He had long hair which was tied in a pony without any bangs. The thing that Claude noticed the most was the 8 huge scars on his body. 4 on each hand, they were made intentionally and not in battle. Claude looked like a small pup in front of this orc.
" What do you want ?" Claude asked directly.
The orc simply looked at Claude from toe to head as if trying to grasp everything about him.
" Are you not scared of us ?" The orc asked with a smirk.
" Heh~, why should I be scared of you ? From the scars on your hands, you have conquered at least 8 orc tribes that means the population of your tribe should be around 1000 orcs but I can only see 300 to 400 orcs and from the looks of it you have females more than males that means you have lost a lot of your troops in a battle and only a fool will attack and start a small scale war again with this amount of troops. " Claude said with a smirk of his own.
The orc was taken aback by this small human childs near perfect analysis. After all, he literally explained everything about his tribe perfectly.
" Hahahaha…." To Claude's surprise the orc leader didn't get angry or annoyed instead he started laughing as if he had heard the joke of his life.
" Even after knowing this much, they have sended a small child, a bunch of cowards." The orc leader said after stopping his laughter. He looked at the soldiers of venia village with disgust.
" Uh, no I am the only one who knows about this." Claude said awkwardly.
" Then why didn't you tell your people ?" The orc asked, getting more and more interested in Claude.
" At the end of the day we are humans and you are monsters. They fear the strong and torment the weak. They would have attacked you because for them you are no different than dungeon dwellers. And I will like to avoid any fight as much as possible." Claude explained and the orc was clearly surprised by the show of wisdom of this small human child. He just didn't think of the best solution but also understood the shortcomings of his race.
" So what do you want ?" Claude asked after a few seconds went by yet the orc leader remained silent.
" If you know this much about us you would have probably guessed why we are here." The orc said wanting more of Claude's show of wisdom.
Claude was taken aback a bit. As the orc leader had guessed, Claude already had a guess what these orcs wanted. From the looks of it this orcs were going to a certain place because to reach the village of venia you need to cross at least two mountains. There were a total of 8 mountains surrounding Venia from all the 4 directions. Each direction has 2 mountains. If you think logically most of the people would avoid the village of venia and go through a different way due to mountains. Crossing them was not the real problem but the temperature is so low in these mountains along with the rainy season that a snow storm was the best you can expect.
But these orcs have intentionally crossed two mountains and it seems like they are going to two more mountains as well. The only problem that will arise to them for which they would talk with the humans then that problem probably is....
" You are running low on food supplies ?" Claude questioned with an understanding look. Even he was confused as to how can he make such calculations in minutes.
