As Rayne was being dragged away by her father's people, she recalled her terrible past and how she and her father became what they were.

They were originally a family of three that lived in a village that was visited by a group of researchers who were studying the Ley Lines looking for unique spots where they met up.

Such spots were known as supernatural beacons where strange things happened more often and supernatural creatures were often drawn toward them.

In severe cases, some rifts, tears, or gates appeared connected to strange dimensions while other spots were used by mages to set up their bases and other strange phenomena occurred.

The leader of the group was a former Magical Pharmaceuticals employee called Dr Aero who seemed very kind and cooperative with the villagers.

It did not take long for him to reveal his sinister intentions as he spiked the water of the village and had them all imprisoned to become test subjects.

He aimed to research the effects of different energies that were abundant in the area and how they affected people.

He hoped to figure out how to empower humans using such methods but his approach was very unaccepted in the science communities.

He proceeded to introduce high concentrations of strange energies to his captives as he documented their changes if they underwent one.

Most adults showed more rejection of his experiments which caused many deaths while young children were more likely to show some changes.

His methods were very extreme which caused the death of Rayne's mother.

Rayne and her father Hogan did not have time to grieve over the loss.

Hogan started to unlock the potential for magic while Rayne showed great rejection of further experiments and was seen as a failure.

One day changed their lives forever as a strange group came to take down Dr. Aero and his people causing everyone to be saved.

Just like how the strange group operated normally, every victim had their memories erased of the incident and they were given a second chance at life while some were being monitored.
