Chapter 27: Becoming a True Companion

[A/N: MC has not had that much of an encounter with games, so he is basically a Noob who will stumble along as he learns about these games]

Surrounded by Draugr corpses Farkas and I could be seen breathing heavily with a few cuts and wounds on our bodies from the fight with the Draugr.

"Let's return," I told Farkas who was grinning like a fool from the fun we just had.

"Agreed, I am needing some good mead after this battle," Farkas told me with a smile before sheathing his great sword by putting it on his back.

Walking back over to the strange wall filled with carvings, I walked over to the large chest that lay at the end of the table at the center of the semi-spheric wall.

Opening the chest I found that it contained a few different expensive jewelries along with some gold ingots.

There was even some ancient nordic armor that was quite similar to the armor I saw Aela wearing as well as its quiver which was filled with the Draugr's ancient arrows.

As we began backtracking through the crypt, we soon reached the surface where we cleaned ourselves in the river from all the blood that covered us.

[A/n: This is not the game guys, no shortcuts in most Nordic Crypts which have even more treasure for our dear MC who could easily get rich in a place like Skyrim from selling the literal treasure he gets from the Nordic Crypts]

"That's clean enough, let's get back to the others," I told Farkas who nodded in agreement.

We soon reached Jorrvaskr where we found the more well-known companions in an almost complete circle.

Once Farkas and I joined the circle, Kodlack began to speak.

"Brothers and sisters of the Circle, today we welcome a new soul into our mortal fold. This man has endured, has challenged, and has shown his valor. Who will speak for him?" Kodlak asked before Farkas stepped forward.

"I stand witness to the courage of the soul before us," Farkas told the others.

"Would you raise your shield in his defense?" Kodlak asked.

"I would stand at his back, that the world might never overtake us," Farkas responded.

"And would you raise your sword in his honor?" Kodlak asked Farkas once more.

"It stands ready to meet the blood of his foes," Farkas continued.

"And would you raise a mug in his name?" Kodlak asked one final time.

"I would lead the song of triumph as our mead hall reveled in his stories," Farkas finished.

"Then the judgment of this Circle is complete. His heart beats with fury and courage that have united the companions since the days of the distant green summers. Let it beat with ours, that the mountains may echo and our enemies may tremble at the call," Kodlak spoke with a smile on his aged face.

Suddenly the others in the circle stepped forward and spoke in unison, "It shall be so."

As everyone dispersed, Kodlak stepped towards me before speaking.

"Well, boy, you're one of us now, I trust you won't disappoint."

"Thank you for your kind words, what happens now?" I asked.

"Now that you are a part of the Circle, we have a lot more jobs available for you," Kodlak informed me.

"What kind of jobs?" I asked.

"For one, you can start accepting the higher profile work from the Jarl's Steward and even start taking the high-risk contracts in the other holds of Skyrim," Kodlak informed me.

"In fact, I actually wanted to ask you if you would head up to Dragonsreach since the Steward is offering a fetching job," Kodlak informed me.

"Fetching Job?" I asked.

"From what he told me the Court Wizard is searching for a stone tablet said to have been in one of the western Nord Crypts, if you are interested you are free to speak with the Steward more in detail on the job," Kodlak told me before retreating to Jorrvaskr.

Stone Tablet in one of the western Nord crypts...?

Why does that sound familiar?

Wait...is he talking about the strange stone tablet in my inventory?

...

The next day I began walking up the staircase up to Dragonsreach, where the Jarl of Whiterun and his court live.

Stepping into the large palace that lies at the top of Whiterun, I found myself in a large hall with a throne at the other end where I could see the Jarl of Whiterun, Jarl Balgruuf the Greater, sitting in a small throne talking to his court.

As I approached suddenly the dark elf standing to his side in leather armor drew her sword and rushed over to me, making the court all turn around to look at me.

Well...this will be a pleasant first meeting...
