Fragment of Reality

“This world is so pathetic, everyday is consecutively the same, yet we still are anticipating for what is to come. Why is that? Is it because we are so immersed into this pitiful world of ours, or are we just utter fools?” Fragment of Reality is a riveting dark fantasy, adventure, thriller novel that follows the journey of a young man named Kuro, who embarks on a perilous quest to uncover the true meaning of existence. At the beginning of the novel, Kuro is depicted as a generic character, with little depth or complexity. However, as the story progresses, Kuro begins to develop a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around him, which leads him on a journey of self-discovery. As Kuro travels deeper into the unknown, he confronts the ultimate question of existence: What is the purpose of life? Is there a grand design that governs our existence, or are we merely random elements in a chaotic universe? Through his encounters with various characters, Kuro comes to understand that the answer to this question is not straightforward, and that the meaning of existence is a complex and multifaceted concept that can only be approached through experience.——

The Abyss

I wake up, sweating and breathing heavily. I'm lying on a hard surface in the pitch black. My entire body hurts like hell. The pain is dulled by the adrenaline that's still coursing through my veins. It feels like I've been laying here for an eternity, but it can't have been more than just a few hours.

I shift my gaze in a panic, but can't see anything except mere darkness; an infinite abyss. I'm now conscious that this place I'm in isn't typical.

- "Reveal yourselves." My voice echoed through the abyss.

It was silent, nothing to be heard expect the echoes of my voice.

As the echoes died down, there was still no response. The darkness continued to engulf everything, and the pain in my body intensified. I tried to remember how I got here, but my mind drew a blank. It was as if I had been plucked from reality and thrown into this void.

As I lay there, trying to make sense of my situation, I heard a faint sound in the distance. It was like a low chuckle, almost unnoticeable.

I strained to hear it better and realized that it was getting louder. The sound grew and grew until it filled the entire space, drowning out all other thoughts and sensations.

Now sensible of what I'm experiencing, Im sure that I hear a man laughing; but I cannot see him! I'm still alone in the dark, and even more afraid than before. My heart pounds with fear as a cold shiver runs through my spine.

- "Come out." I call into the void again.

The laughing stops. The air is cold enough to freeze me throughout.

I slowly hear footsteps dashing closer, and closer towards me.

I turn my gaze behind me, and I see the presence of a man walking up to me. I am too shook to say a word, certainly horrified. But even so, the man looked beautiful.

His hair was long, silky and white, and he had piercing golden eyes. His skin was pale, and he seemed to have a youthful appearance. He looked like an angel, yet so corrupt.

As the man comes closer to me, he raises his voice.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" The man's laugh is full of insanity, and his face shines with madness.

- "Who are you?" I ask.

He looks at me with a smile, continuing to laugh.

The man's laughter echoes through the empty room, and I can feel my fear rising. I try to move, but my body feels heavy and unresponsive, as if weighed down by an invisible force.

The man's laughter eventually dies down, and he looks at me with his golden eyes glinting.

He takes a step closer, and I can see the malice in his eyes. I try to summon up the courage to stand up and face him, but my body still refuses to move.

He stands before me, looming over me, his face twisted into a sinister smile. I can feel his breath on my skin, and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

- "Who are you?" I ask again, my voice barely above a whisper.

The man leans down, his face only inches from mine. "You don't remember yet, do you?" he hisses, his voice low and menacing.

Suddenly, the room begins to spin, and I feel myself being pulled into a vortex of darkness. The man's laughter echoes in my ears, and I realize with a sickening feeling that I am being consumed by his madness.

I struggle to keep my eyes open, but the darkness engulfs me completely. I can hear the man's laughter growing louder and more maniacal as I slip deeper into unconsciousness.

As I'm being engulfed into the depths of the darkness, I hear the mysterious man's voice raise once more. His voice is all choppy and distorted, extremely loud and menacing.

The man then calls my name.

- "FAREWELL, KURO!" My name echoes through the darkness, and I can feel a sense of familiarity to it.

The darkness continues to consume me, and I feel like I'm being pulled further and further away from reality.

The man's laughter echoed throughout the void once more, and his existence slowly vanishing into the infinite.

My mind can only think one thing, and it brings terror to my heart.

- "I fear something terrible is bound to happen."

My vision slowly started to blur, and my thoughts were becoming distorted. I tried to focus on what happened, and why I couldn't remember anything. But all I could think about was how I had lost myself. How I no longer know who I am, or where I come from.

Just as my thoughts became blurred, I finally passed out.

-"Ah, good to see you awake." A cheerful voice broke my train of thought.

I snapped out of my daze, and looked around.

I was inside a small cabin. There was a bed, and a wooden table. On top of it sat a plate with some bread and wine.

I got up, and grabbed the food. I was famished.

After eating, I laid down on the bed. I felt tired, but at the same time, I couldn't fall asleep.

I looked out the window and saw the sky was beginning to grow dark.

I suddenly remembered the last thing I experienced before losing my consciousness. I had been in a dark void, and a man called my name.

'FAREWELL KURO!'

I wanted to believe it was a dream, but it wasn't. I knew deep down inside that I was experiencing true reality.

I stood up, and went over to the door. I pushed against the handle, and it opened. I walked outside, and looked around.

I was in a forest, surrounded by trees and bushes. The sun was setting, and the colors of the sky gave way to darkness.

There was something I was supposed to do, I just wasn't sure what.

I walked deeper into the woods, until I reached a clearing. It was quiet, and there were no people around.

I looked up, and saw a large tree in the middle of the clearing. I walked towards the tree, and ran my fingers over the bark.

I took a deep breath, feeling the wind blow past my face. I closed my eyes, and let the sound of nature take me away to another world.

I took a step forward, and suddenly fell to my knees.

I held my head in my hands, and began to cry. All the pent up emotions came pouring out of me.

I felt the warmth of my tears wetting my face, and I cried harder.

I didn't know what was happening to me. I didn't know who I am, and I don't know why the hell I'm here.

As I sat there, crying and alone in the clearing, I began to feel a sense of clarity wash over me. It was as if the tears were washing away all the confusion and fear that had been consuming me.
