CHAPTER EIGHT: A New Journey
Fog still sits on his butt looking at the pile of ash and rust that was Metal Silver
FOG
"It's finally over."
Fog stands up and kneels over the pile. seeing a single golden bracer that looks exactly like his father's. Fog picks it up. Realizing it the exact bracer his father had. This brings back some memories for Fog. A single tear falls down Fog's face. Fog wipes the tear away and stands up. Fog puts on the bracer.
Velocity looks at the pile with an amazed look. Velocity still with an amazed look slowly turns into excitement
VELOCITY
"I did it."
VELOCITY
"I did it!"
Velocity starts to jump up and down from excitement
As Fog slowly starts to stand up leaning more on his right leg than his left, Velocity runs straight into Fog giving him a big hug
VELOCITY
"I DID IIIIIIIIT!"
Fog chuckles
Velocity lets go of Fog
Fog looks down at Velocity
FOG
"Yes you did."
Fog kneels over a little bit and ruffles through the quills ontop Velocity's head
FOG
"And I'm proud of you."
Velocity smile starts to brighten up even more
Onyx comes from the sky and lands on the ground. Onyx walks toward Fog and Velocity
ONYX
"Good job kid."
Velocity raises both of his hands
VELOCITY
"I did it!"
Velocity points at the pile of rust and ash
Onyx chuckles
ONYX
"I know you did."
Onyx looks around at the surrounding city. Currently in ruins.
ONYX
"Looks like it's going to take awhile to rebuild. We might have to relocate too."
Onyx looks at Fog
Fog realizes Onyx's concerning gaze
ONYX
"What are you going to do?"
Fog thinks for a second
FOG
"I don't really know."
Onyx looks away with a kind of embarrassed look
ONYX
"You. could always stay with us?"
Fog looks at Onyx with a confused look
Onyx looks at Fog
ONYX
"What?! Is it weird for me to offer help and all?!"
Onyx averts her eyes
ONYX (MUTTERS)
"We almost lost you and all."
Onyx looks back at FOG
ONYX
"It's also a thanks for what you did too!"
Fog looks at Onyx for a second. Then starts to burst out in laughter
FOG
"I knew you cared about me one way or another."
Onyx's face starts to turn red from embarrassment
Onyx punches Fog in the head with a loud "thud!"
FOG
"Ow."
Onyx turns away from Fog
ONYX
"Idiot."
ONYX
"So, made your decision on what you wanna do yet."
Fog looks at Velocity and starts to think for a second
Fog contemplates
"Maybe he's ready…"
Fog looks at Onyx with a determined look
Onyx turns around and sees Fog, catching her attention
FOG
"Do you have any info on the Master Emerald?"
Onyx looks at Fog with a surprised look
Onyx looks at Velocity and then back at Fog
ONYX
"Is it for him?"
Fog nods
ONYX
"Are you sure he's ready?"
Fog looks at the ground, Then back up at Onyx with a determined look
FOG
"He has to be."
Onyx sighs.
ONYX
"I don't have any solid info for you. But I do have something. Go west to the Desert of Storms. That's the last place the island of Echidna's wsas spotted."
Onyx hesitates for a second.
ONYX
"But it may lead to your death."
Fog looks down at the ground thinking. Fog looks at Velocity. Then to Onyx.
FOG
"We're going to have to take a chance."
Onyx sighs
ONYX
"If you really have to. But at least stay here until you're all rested up."
Fog sighs and then chuckles
FOG
"If you say so."
As Onyx helps fog walk. Her, Fog, and Velocity walk through the city toward Onyx's original casino
A woman peaks out of the rubble and sees the group she runs up to Fog. Showing she is carrying a baby. Then she bows her head
WOMAN
"Thank you for saving me and my daughter!"
Fog looks at the woman with a puzzled look. Then suddenly remembers the woman he saved from falling rubble, hours ago
Fog smiles
FOG
"You don't have to thank me. I just did what I could to help."
The woman looks up at Fog and smiles
ONYX
"Make sure to get to the shelter. We still don't know if it's completely safe out here!"
The woman nods and runs away
Fog looks at Onyx
FOG
"Do you have to be so hard on them?"
ONYX
"Well someone has to be."
Onyx continues to carry Fog to the casino
A couple of days later
Fog stands in front of the gate with Velocity. Fog has a bandage on his thigh and he is sporting a new brown cloak with a hood. Velocity now has a red backpack to carry his things
Velocity looks at Fog
VELOCITY
"Why do we have to leave so soon? We basically just got here."
Fog chuckles
FOG
"We have to do something important. For you."
VELOCITY
"For me? Do I get to know?"
FOG
"No, but I'll tell you later."
Velocity pouts
VELOCITY
"No fair!"
Fog chuckles
ONYX
"The kid has a point."
Fog turns around and looks at Onyx
ONYX
"Do you really have to leave? You could just stay here and be safe?"
Fog smiles
FOG
"You know that's not really my style."
Onyx sighs
ONYX
"I know that more than most."
Fog smiles
Fog looks down at Velocity
FOG
"We better get going."
Velocity, still pouting, reluctantly nods
The gate in front of the two starts to open
Fog looks back at Onyx
FOG
"I'll see you later. Thanks for everything."
ONYX (MUTTERS)
"I should be saying that to you."
ONYX (WHISPERS)
"Make sure to come to back me."
Fog stops for a second
Onyx starts to get flustered
ONYX
"You weren't supposed to hear that!"
Fog smiles
FOG (WHISPERS)
"I will, I promise."
Onyx looks at Fog with a surprised look
Onyx closes her eyes and smiles
Fog and Velocity exit through the gate going through the tunnel they originally went through
A new adventure awaits for our heroes. Where will they go now? Will they survive the Disastrous Desert of Storms? I suppose we'll just have to find out.
