SHE LOST IT.

—ALEXA—

Other complements followed before she came to my table and dropped the papers she was holding, they were data that needed to be encoded into the computer. She sat close to me heavily and leaned when speaking to me.

"This might be my last time coming here until after my delivery, please tell Susan once she reports working." I wished her a safe delivery before she left. She looked almost due.

I was sure it wasn't going to exceed a week before she gave birth. I caught sight of Walker still staring around the small room.

The room was very large, the space was probably more than that needed for fifty people but we were only twenty.

There was a table and three-seater settee on each point. Then right beside the entrance was a leather couch where visitors sat and waited for them to be attended to.

But we rarely had visitors, so it was a makeshift relaxation point whenever we needed a break. There was also a long, dark, mahogany table at the end at the right.

There was a large poster and five enormous televisions that hung right behind it on the wall.

I sat up so I could take a peek over the desktop in front of me and look once again at the man who had just entered.

Walker was that way, he always attracted a second look despite being such a pain in the arse. I had never known how hot he was until I had seen him in his casual attire.

His chest bulged through the t-shirt and his super veiny arm stretched from it. His hair was neatly carved and arranged and accentuated his sapphire-coloured eyes.

I snap from the thought of what it would feel like, lying on that chest of his. His eyes were unblinking as he looked around.

Not strange he was behaving that way, he was a stranger to this place. I also noted his sharp jaws. They had unshaved beards that were now sprouting again.

There was one word for a man like him: "Super hot!" I stopped myself from the lustful gaze I was directing toward him, but I couldn't help it.

I had only discovered later that I was staring stupidly at him. But I had always assured myself that no matter how hot he was, I was never going to be in a relationship any sooner, and not with a world-class jerk like him when I finally recovered.

I had been dealt with by my parents and it was going to take some time before I fully recovered from the terrible pain I had passed through in the past months.

He might be very hot but I was not going to ignore the fact that he was sleeping around. That was only what I had suspected him to do because of the way he responded to the women who threw themselves at him. I heard a clapping sound and turned around to see the Pack's trainer.

He had clapped only to get our attention. "Please listen, everyone… We all should be aware that Eve will be leaving for a while.

That means that until she is back, Alpha Walker will be the one in charge of the reports from now on. I strained my ears to hear what he said.

I was startled when I heard him pronounce that name. "Please guys, give him your cooperation and explain things to him whenever you think he is lagging." He announced finally and turned back towards his office. I continued to watch him, shocked by what I was seeing and hearing.

What the hell was that supposed to mean. There was no other meaning, I reminded myself immediately. Walker was now my head.

His ruggedly handsome face breaks into a wide grin. I flushed and turned back to the keyboard. Everything suddenly felt strange.

What must have pushed the Alpha into assigning him to this position? There was not a single day here that we didn't work seriously but from what I heard, Walker had never worked for a single day in his life, nor did he take matters seriously.

I lowered my gaze back to the keyboard and looked at the codes again. I had been persistently trying to perfect them until now.

I could not concentrate at all. I felt annoyed without knowing why. Walker followed Alvarez back to his office shortly after.

Some turned back to their computers as if nothing happened. Some others were chatting excitedly, some visibly annoyed with the decision while some seemed not to give a hoot.

Some minutes later he came out of the office and shook hands with Alvarez who left shortly. He first went to Susan's desk and stood right behind her before he leaned over to say something to her. It wasn't long and I heard her laugh in her silly, loud voice.

What kind of man was this? I thought. He had just started and he was already flirting with one of us. I did not know if I should get angry or keep my cool.

I was not just used to that kind of people, I thought. I could see some of his rock-hard abs as I gazed in his direction.

I did not know why I couldn't stop staring at him. I knew Susan would never be stupid enough to fall for a man like Walker.

But if she had done so already? I asked myself, still watching them. Susan had been my friend for some months now probably because we were of the same age,  and she had been in this department for over three years.
