42 An Immortal!

Kane had been standing straight for a while now. Ji Chen hadn't moved or done anything.

"Master! Now that you've freed me, I'm your personal companion!"

Kane kneeled on the ground. Ji Chen nodded his head, thinking how cool it looked in third person. But then, he came back to reality and shook his head.

"What use do you have? I am already stronger than you!"

Kane didn't respond back but instead made the book in Ji Chen's hand start to grow chains.

"A seal?"

Seeing the book glow, that was the first thing that came to Ji Chen's mind.

"Master, the book is sealed unless I unseal..."

Before Kane could finish his sentence, Ji Chen instantly snapped the chains. Kane had a dumbfounded look. He was questioning if he was daydreaming. Snapping a seal of such level couldn't be broken by mere mortals! Even the realms above Gold Realm: Profound, Earth and Sky couldn't break through such a seal!

"An Immortal!"

Kane kowtowed down on the floor. When he was kneeling, though he felt inferior, he didn't think that the difference between them would be so much!

"What can a Mortal spirit like you offer me?"

Mortal was what Semi-Immortals called those who were below them. It was very common to see them disdain upon 'Mortals' sometimes even killing them straight up because of their realm!

Ji Chen ruthlessly asked. Though he looked ruthless outside, inside he was confused. He had seen many Demigod level items for three hundred points, what could {The Profound Knowledge of True Edge} provide that the others couldn't? This made him curious.

Kane was astounded that he was even given a chance. He had heard that many Immortal level beings eliminated anything below Semi-Immortal, calling them 'vermin'.

"Your majesty! I have much knowledge that the Profound Knowledge manual doesn't offer!"

Kane was determined to follow Ji Chen. This opportunity only came once in a lifetime, he didn't want to miss out on such a thing!

"Like what?"

Kane spoke out many techniques and skills that he could offer, but Ji Chen didn't even blink once hearing them through. They were quite common in the realm of the gods. They literally had everything, what more could Ji Chen want from Kane? But it was then when Kane was about to give up, he said something that piqued Ji Chen's interest:

"Sigh, what about conversation specialist. I have various experiences on what other's are thinking and their mindset."

Kane had sighed as he spoke. He was sure that Ji Chen would never care about something as little as 'conversation specialist'. But it was only then that Ji Chen didn't shake his head.

"Conversation specialist? Can you expand on that?"

Kane instantly brightened up. He had started to machine gun answers about how he was great at reading others expression and their background. It only made Ji Chen nod at how the title 'The master of showing-off' fit him. But for Kane, he thought that Ji Chen was nodding at his performance. He only sped up his voice and his skill at bragging.

Surprisingly, not once had he repeated himself! He was truly a master at the art of bragging! He delivered information fast, quick and mindfully.

Remembering the quest from The System and the hint that he had gotten, he tried to sound as if he was the one in charge.

"Master, have you decided whether I can follow you?"

Kane asked hurriedly.

"I have decided that you can follow me!"

Ji Chen finally answered Kane. Making Kane draw in a sigh of relief. He knew perfectly well how high Immortals stood! They were beings that were considered at the peak of the first benchmark! Beings that could destroy empires with a wave of a hand!

"But..."

Hearing the but from Ji Chen, Kane's heartbeat fastened. He was scared that Ji Chen would have a change of heart.

"You must first show me an example of your ability!"

Ji Chen continued. Inside Kane's mind, he had a face of disdain. He clearly knew that Ji Chen was probably stuck at a conversation problem, and since he had just bragged about being a conversation specialist, Ji Chen probably wanted to use him for that. Outside, Kane had a smiling face and responded joyfully:

"Your majesty, it is my honour to assist you!"

Ji Chen nodded and asked Kane to follow along. It was then that Kane realised the majestic room he was in! He could barely see through the commonest of carvings! It was obvious that the one who had designed such a thing was an Immortal Builder!

"Your majesty, who built you such a fortress, where are we?"

Kane was trying to get on the good side of Ji Chen by trying to ass lick him. Ji Chen's eyebrow twitched hearing 'your majesty'. He faced Kane and showed an agitated face, scaring Kane, Ji Chen then answered him:

"We are in the Thirty-Third Heaven for something important..."

Ji Chen spaced out for a couple of seconds, but continued, realising that he had spaced out:

"Cough, cough! The one who had built a fortress was a friend of mine. He is an Immortal like me."

Since Kane had inferred that he was an Immortal, Ji Chen rolled with it.

"Another Immortal in the Thirty-Third Heaven?"

Kane almost choked. He would never expect for some Immortals to go down to such a low realm like the Thirty-Third Realm! Kane had started inferring that there would be some treasure that even Immortals would go mad for in the Thirty-Third Heaven.

"It doesn't really matter, what matters is your task."

Ji Chen guided Kane to Marie's Fort.
