To Be Come A Part Of Their Family

Eve's POV

   I was very nervous when I went down to the dining area. I saw a family of three smiling at me. They are patiently waiting before they could eat.

   "I'm sorry... I took long". I shyly said then lowered my head in embarrassment.

   "It's okay honey, come. You must be very hungry now". Annalee said sweetly to me as she ushered me to an empty seat beside her.

   "By the way Eve this is my husband John". She pointed at the man across the table and he smiled warmly at me.

   "Eve, don't be shy okay, treat this place as your own home. I know Maya expect that from us. That's why she sent you here". He said with a fatherly tone.

   "I don't know what to say except.... Thank you!". I said as I almost choke with tears.

   "Oh honey please don't cry again!". Annalee pleaded and I burst into laughter.

   The dinner went well. They told me stories about Maya and why did she left their home. She was a very sickly little girl back then and Banes Field have no much professional doctors yet. Maya was sent to her Aunt in the city where she received treatment. She studied there and only comes home every summer for a vacation. The last time she went home she met a man and falls deeply in love with him but after few months of bliss the man found another woman to marry and he broke up with Maya after that she never came back. She only calls but all of a sudden the call stopped and Annalee's family began to worry. They tried to find her but there was no luck. After few years she calls back to say she have already a beautiful daughter.

   "That's why we were very thankful to you.... You brought her back to us". Annalee teared up and John patted her back.

  "But it's only me who came back... She didn't make it". I almost whispered what I said to them.

   "It's okay at least a part of her returned... Her heart returned".

  I looked at Annalee and I felt guilt inside of me. They always thought that Maya died due to her chronic illness. And I decided to leave it like that. Less painful, less hurt. But still a question popped inside my head. Then a debate start. Should I ask them if they know who I really was or should I leave it as a secret too. But my head keeps telling me that they are good people. I already hid the truth about Maya's death should I also hide my true identity to them?....

   "Did she tell you....".

   "We know dear". Annalee cut my sentence. "But we don't care. We still see you as my twin sister's real daughter". She said while looking straight into my eyes. That part of me, she didn't hide it from them.

  "We still want you to become a part of our family.... We hope you can reconsider". John speak lastly and I burst out crying.

  "So... Would you like to be my sister?". Amy asked with worry. I think she's afraid that I might say no. I just nod continously.

   "Yes!.... I have a sister!". She shouted with glee.

   "Hey she's your cousin!". Annalee corrected her daughter but Amy just pout at her.

   "I don't care... I want a sister and she will be my sister... And that's final, hmp!".

   We all laughed at her.

   The guest room became my own room. Amy, now as my cousin/sister and Annalee who became now my Aunt are all busy decorating my room. We bought wallpapers and other girly stuffed that I don't understand why I needed it. John is always busy at work. He only stop by just to ask me if I am okay or if I feel uncomfortable and I just answered him with a smile.

   The mother and daughter tandem are always busy showing me almost the whole Banes Field Town and telling me stories about the place. It is a very peaceful town and almost everyone knows every one. I feel at home with the Sanchez Family, who are now my family too.

   And at the first time in my life, I feel free. I just hope Maya is here with me. I still miss her though.
