Poor John

Eve's POV

Two weeks after I got at Banes Field and met Maya's real family. I tried to familiarize myself with my new surroundings. I run everyday. I told Annalee that it was my hobby to run every morning, which is half true. The other half of the truth is I am memorizing each and every place, stores, houses and alleys of Banes Field. Everybody said this place is a piece of heaven but there's something about this place that gives me a red light of warning. I don't know what, where or who. All I can do right now is just prepare myself. Something may come and I don't want to be pin down to the ground with my new found family.

For several days of running I already memorize almost all the in and out of the place. Where the connecting roads and alleys collide. And what vehicle should I use if I need to flee. The next part I want to go is the woods. And today I am running inside of it.

Inside the luscious green woods is a trail leading to somewhere. I noticed some tire tracks on the ground. Most of them are still fresh. The soil from where the tire marks embedded are much lower than the side. It is almost like a road and a lot of cars already pass this area. Well that's what I thought.

I decided to follow the path and been walking for a more than fifteen minutes when I heard a growl. The sound echoed inside the woods and I halted to see if something will jump over me out of nowhere. For more than a minute nothing came but I am still in alert mode. The sound I heard is not a simple growl of a small animal. It's bigger.

Slowly I turned my body to walk again straight to the road path but after taking a step a loud growl came again. And I can feel a power behind it. "Not good!". I told myself and decided to walk back from where I came from. But I know I will be back here.

   Dinner.

"Guess what?". John opened the conversation while eating Annalee's best selling meatloaf and grilled chicken. I could swear this food is the food of the God.

   "What!". Amy asked while grinning.

"Eve will be attending Central Banes High on monday". John said proudly.

Amy squealed and I am agape. I honestly forgot about school.

"Wow... You did good today my love". Annalee cupped John's face and he smiled with admiration towards her.

"OMG... There's children inside the room.... Hello!". Amy's eyes rolled after watching her parents adorable gesture towards each other. While I chuckled. I thought maybe, I am the only one thinking they really looked cute together.

"Honestly, I almost forgot about school.... Thank you for the effort of getting me to school although I am already a week behind". I said shyly to my now uncle John.

"Anything for you kiddo, we all wanted to help you fulfill your promise to Maya". He said then wink at me.

I smiled remembering her. I know Maya is looking after me and patiently waiting for me to fulfill my promise.

"So this means shopping again tomorrow?". Annalee said with a wide grin on her lips. While Amy was clapping with excitement and me, I just sigh and smile. I'm not really a fan of shopping.

"Again?... Didn't we just both a lot of things last week?". I asked the other two women in the house with confuse.

"Honestly, sometimes I really wanted to asked your Aunt and your cousin why they need to buy a lot of things that they don't usually use?". John asked as dumbfounded as I am.

"It's a girl thing". Amy suddenly answered.

"C'mon John, the girls nedded a new clothes and shoes for school". Annalee said sweetly to John and put her hand on top of his.

"Fine!". And he handed her his card.

Both women giggled in excitement while I shook my head grinning. Poor John.
